Exodus 5

1 Pharaoh chideth Moses and Aaron for their message. 5 He increaseth the Israelites' task. 15 He checketh their complaints. 20 They cry out upon Moses and Aaron. 22 Moses complaineth to God.

 5:1 And afterward 310 Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 came 935 and said 559 to Pharaoh 6547, “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, ‘Let 7971 My people 5971a go 7971 that they may celebrate 2287 a feast 2287 to Me in the wilderness 4057b.’”

 5:2 But Pharaoh 6547 said 559, “Who 4310 is the LORD 3068 that I should obey 8085 His voice 6963 to let 7971 Israel 3478 go 7971? I do not know 3045 the LORD 3068, and besides 1571, I will not let 7971 Israel 3478 go 7971.”

 5:3 Then they said 559, “The God 430 of the Hebrews 5680 has met 7122 with us. Please 4994, let us go 1980 a three 7969 days’ 3117 journey 1870 into the wilderness 4057b that we may sacrifice 2076 to the LORD 3068 our God 430, otherwise 6435 He will fall 6293 upon us with pestilence 1698 or 176 with the sword 2719.”

 5:4 But the king 4428 of Egypt 4714 said 559 to them, “Moses 4872 and Aaron 175, why 4100 do you draw 6544a the people 5971a away 6544a from their work 4639? Get 1980 [back] to your labors 5450!”

 5:5 Again Pharaoh 6547 said 559, “Look 2005, the people 5971a of the land 776 are now 6258 many 7227a, and you would have them cease 7673a from their labors 5450!”

 5:6 So the same 1931 day 3117 Pharaoh 6547 commanded 6680 the taskmasters 5065 over the people 5971a and their foremen 7860, saying 559,

 5:7 “You are no 3808 longer 3254 to give 5414 the people 5971a straw 8401 to make 3835b brick 3835b as previously 8543 8032a; let them go 1980 and gather 7197a straw 8401 for themselves 1992a.

 5:8 “But the quota 4971 of bricks 3843 which 834 they were making 6213a previously 8543 8032a, you shall impose 7760 on them; you are not to reduce 1639 any 4480 of it. Because 3588 they are lazy 7503, therefore 5921 3651 they cry 6817 out, ‘Let us go 1980 and sacrifice 2076 to our God 430.’

 5:9 “Let the labor 5656 be heavier 3513 on the men 376, and let them work 6213a at it so that they will pay 8159 no 408 attention 8159 to false 8267 words 1697.”

 5:10 ¶ So the taskmasters 5065 of the people 5971a and their foremen 7860 went 3318 out and spoke 559 to the people 5971a, saying 559, “Thus 3541 says 559 Pharaoh 6547, ‘I am not going to give 5414 you [any] straw 8401.

 5:11 ‘You go 1980 [and] get 3947 straw 8401 for yourselves wherever 4480 834 you can find 4672 [it], but none 369 of your labor 5656 will be reduced 1639.’”

 5:12 So the people 5971a scattered 6327a through all 3605 the land 776 of Egypt 4714 to gather 7197a stubble 7179 for straw 8401.

 5:13 The taskmasters 5065 pressed 213 them, saying 559, “Complete 3615 your work 4639 quota 4639, [your] daily 3117 amount 1697 3117, just 3512c as when you had 1961 straw 8401.”

 5:14 Moreover, the foremen 7860 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, whom 834 Pharaoh’s 6547 taskmasters 5065 had set 7760 over 5921 them, were beaten 5221 and were asked 559, “Why 4069 have you not completed 3615 your required 2706 amount 2706 either 1571 yesterday 8543 or 1571 today 3117 in making 3835b brick 3835b as previously 8543 8032a?”

 5:15 ¶ Then the foremen 7860 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 came 935 and cried 6817 out to Pharaoh 6547, saying 559, “Why 4100 do you deal 6213a this 3541 way 3541 with your servants 5650?

 5:16 “There 369 is no 369 straw 8401 given 5414 to your servants 5650, yet they keep saying 559 to us, ‘Make 6213a bricks 3843!’ And behold 2009, your servants 5650 are being beaten 5221; but it is the fault 2398 of your [own] people 5971a.”

 5:17 But he said 559, “You are lazy 7503, [very] lazy 7503; therefore 5921 3651 you say 559, ‘Let us go 1980 [and] sacrifice 2076 to the LORD 3068.’

 5:18 “So go 1980 now 6258 [and] work 5647; for you will be given 5414 no 3808 straw 8401, yet you must deliver 5414 the quota 8506 of bricks 3843.”

 5:19 The foremen 7860 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 saw 7200 that they were in trouble 7451b because they were told 559, “You must not reduce 1639 [your] daily 3117 amount 1697 3117 of bricks 3843.”

 5:20 When they left 3318 Pharaoh’s 6547 presence 4480 854, they met 6293 Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 as they were waiting 5324 for them.

 5:21 They said 559 to them, “May the LORD 3068 look 7200 upon you and judge 8199 [you], for you have made 887 us odious 887 7381b in Pharaoh’s 6547 sight 5869 and in the sight 5869 of his servants 5650, to put 5414 a sword 2719 in their hand 3027 to kill 2026 us.”

 5:22 ¶ Then Moses 4872 returned 7725 to the LORD 3068 and said 559, “O Lord 136, why 4100 have You brought 7489a harm 7489a to this 2088 people 5971a? Why 4100 did You ever 2088 send 7971 me?

 5:23 “Ever since 3975b I came 935 to Pharaoh 6547 to speak 1696 in Your name 8034, he has done 7489a harm 7489a to this 2088 people 5971a, and You have not delivered 5337 Your people 5971a at all 5337.”
