Exodus 4

1 Moses' rod is turned into a serpent. 6 His hand is leprous. 10 He is loath to be sent. 14 Aaron is appointed to assist him. 18 Moses departeth from Jethro. 21 God's message to Pharaoh. 24 Zipporah circumciseth her son. 27 Aaron is sent to meet Moses. 31 The people believeth them.

 4:1 Then Moses 4872 said 559, “What if 2005 they will not believe 539 me or listen 8085 to what 6963 I say 6963? For they may say 559, ‘The LORD 3068 has not appeared 7200 to you.’”

 4:2 The LORD 3068 said 559 to him, “What 4100 is that in your hand 3027?” And he said 559, “A staff 4294.”

 4:3 Then He said 559, “Throw 7993 it on the ground 776.” So he threw 7993 it on the ground 776, and it became 1961 a serpent 5175; and Moses 4872 fled 5127 from it.

 4:4 But the LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Stretch 7971 out your hand 3027 and grasp 270 [it] by its tail 2180”—so he stretched 7971 out his hand 3027 and caught 2388 it, and it became 1961 a staff 4294 in his hand 3709—

 4:5 “that they may believe 539 that the LORD 3068, the God 430 of their fathers 1, the God 430 of Abraham 85, the God 430 of Isaac 3327, and the God 430 of Jacob 3290, has appeared 7200 to you.”

 4:6 ¶ The LORD 3068 furthermore 5750 said 559 to him, “Now 4994 put 935 your hand 3027 into your bosom 2436.” So he put 935 his hand 3027 into his bosom 2436, and when he took 3318 it out, behold 2009, his hand 3027 was leprous 6879 like snow 7950.

 4:7 Then He said 559, “Put 7725 your hand 3027 into your bosom 2436 again 7725.” So he put 7725 his hand 3027 into his bosom 2436 again 7725, and when he took 3318 it out of his bosom 2436, behold 2009, it was restored 7725 like [the rest of] his flesh 1320.

 4:8 “If 518 they will not believe 539 you or heed 8085 the witness 6963 of the first 7223 sign 226, they may believe 539 the witness 6963 of the last 314 sign 226.

 4:9 “But if 518 they will not believe 539 even 1571 these 428 two 8147 signs 226 or heed 8085 what 6963 you say 6963, then you shall take 3947 some 4480 water 4325 from the Nile 2975 and pour 8210 it on the dry 3004 ground 3004; and the water 4325 which 834 you take 3947 from the Nile 2975 will become 1961 blood 1818 on the dry 3006 ground 3006.”

 4:10 ¶ Then Moses 4872 said 559 to the LORD 3068, “Please 994a, Lord 136, I have never 3808 been eloquent 376 1697, neither 1571 recently 4480 8543 nor 1571 in time 8032a past 8032a, nor 1571 since 3975b You have spoken 1696 to Your servant 5650; for I am slow 3515 of speech 6310 and slow 3515 of tongue 3956.”

 4:11 The LORD 3068 said 559 to him, “Who 4310 has made 7760 man’s 120 mouth 6310? Or 176 who 4310 makes 7760 [him] mute 483 or 176 deaf 2795, or 176 seeing 6493 or 176 blind 5787? Is it not I, the LORD 3068?

 4:12 “Now 6258 then go 1980, and I, even I, will be with your mouth 6310, and teach 3384 you what 834 you are to say 1696.”

 4:13 But he said 559, “Please 994a, Lord 136, now 4994 send 7971 [the message] by whomever You will 7971.”

 4:14 Then the anger 639 of the LORD 3068 burned 2734 against Moses 4872, and He said 559, “Is there not your brother 251 Aaron 175 the Levite 3881? I know 3045 that he speaks 1696 fluently 1696. And moreover 1571, behold 2009, he is coming 3318 out to meet 7122 you; when he sees 7200 you, he will be glad 8055 in his heart 3820.

 4:15 “You are to speak 1696 to him and put 7760 the words 1697 in his mouth 6310; and I, even I, will be with your mouth 6310 and his mouth 6310, and I will teach 3384 you what 834 you are to do 6213a.

 4:16 “Moreover, he shall speak 1696 for you to the people 5971a; and he will be as a mouth 6310 for you and you will be as God 430 to him.

 4:17 “You shall take 3947 in your hand 3027 this 2088 staff 4294, with which 834 you shall perform 6213a the signs 226.”

 4:18 ¶ Then Moses 4872 departed 1980 and returned 7725 to Jethro 3500 his father-in-law 2860b and said 559 to him, “Please 4994, let me go 1980, that I may return 7725 to my brethren 251 who 834 are in Egypt 4714, and see 7200 if they are still 5750 alive 2416a.” And Jethro 3503 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Go 1980 in peace 7965.”

 4:19 Now the LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872 in Midian 4080, “Go 1980 back 7725 to Egypt 4714, for all 3605 the men 376 who were seeking 1245 your life 5315 are dead 4191.”

 4:20 So Moses 4872 took 3947 his wife 802 and his sons 1121 and mounted 7392 them on a donkey 2543, and returned 7725 to the land 776 of Egypt 4714. Moses 4872 also took 3947 the staff 4294 of God 430 in his hand 3027.

 4:21 ¶ The LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “When you go 1980 back 7725 to Egypt 4714 see 7200 that you perform 6213a before 6440 Pharaoh 6547 all 3605 the wonders 4159 which 834 I have put 7760 in your power 3027; but I will harden 2388 his heart 3820 so that he will not let 7971 the people 5971a go 7971.

 4:22 “Then you shall say 559 to Pharaoh 6547, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “Israel 3478 is My son 1121, My firstborn 1060.

 4:23 “So I said 559 to you, ‘Let 7971 My son 1121 go 7971 that he may serve 5647 Me’; but you have refused 3985 to let 7971 him go 7971. Behold 2009, I will kill 2026 your son 1121, your firstborn 1060.”’”

 4:24 ¶ Now it came 1961 about at the lodging 4411 place 4411 on the way 1870 that the LORD 3068 met 6298 him and sought 1245 to put 4191 him to death 4191.

 4:25 Then Zipporah 6855 took 3947 a flint 6864 and cut 3772 off 3772 her son’s 1121 foreskin 6190 and threw 5060 it at Moses’ feet 7272, and she said 559, “You are indeed 3588 a bridegroom 2860a of blood 1818 to me.”

 4:26 So He let 7503 him alone 7503. At that time 227 she said 559, “[You are] a bridegroom 2860a of blood 1818”—because of the circumcision 4139.

 4:27 ¶ Now the LORD 3068 said 559 to Aaron 175, “Go 1980 to meet 7122 Moses 4872 in the wilderness 4057b.” So he went 1980 and met 6298 him at the mountain 2022 of God 430 and kissed 5401a him.

 4:28 Moses 4872 told 5046 Aaron 175 all 3605 the words 1697 of the LORD 3068 with which 834 He had sent 7971 him, and all 3605 the signs 226 that He had commanded 6680 him [to do].

 4:29 Then Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 went 1980 and assembled 622 all 3605 the elders 2205 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478;

 4:30 and Aaron 175 spoke 1696 all 3605 the words 1697 which 834 the LORD 3068 had spoken 1696 to Moses 4872. He then performed 6213a the signs 226 in the sight 5869 of the people 5971a.

 4:31 So the people 5971a believed 539; and when they heard 8085 that the LORD 3068 was concerned 6485 about the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 and that He had seen 7200 their affliction 6040a, then they bowed 6915 low 6915 and worshiped 7812.
