Exodus 14

1 God instructeth the Israelites in their journey. 5 Pharaoh pursueth after them. 10 The Israelites murmur. 13 Moses comforteth them. 15 God instructeth Moses. 19 The cloud removeth behind the camp. 21 The Israelites pass through the Red Sea, 23 which drowneth the Egyptians.

 14:1 Now the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 14:2 “Tell 1696 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 to turn 7725 back 7725 and camp 2583 before 6440 Pi-hahiroth 6367, between 996 Migdol 4024 and the sea 3220; you shall camp 2583 in front 6440 of Baal-zephon 1189, opposite 5227 it, by the sea 3220.

 14:3 “For Pharaoh 6547 will say 559 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, ‘They are wandering 943 aimlessly 943 in the land 776; the wilderness 4057b has shut 5462 them in.’

 14:4 “Thus I will harden 2388 Pharaoh’s 6547 heart 3820, and he will chase 7291 after 310 them; and I will be honored 3513 through Pharaoh 6547 and all 3605 his army 2428, and the Egyptians 4714 will know 3045 that I am the LORD 3068.” And they did 6213a so 3651.

 14:5 ¶ When the king 4428 of Egypt 4714 was told 5046 that the people 5971a had fled 1272, Pharaoh 6547 and his servants 5650 had 2015 a change 2015 of heart 3824 toward 413 the people 5971a, and they said 559, “What 4100 is this 2088 we have done 6213a, that we have let 7971 Israel 3478 go 7971 from serving 5647 us?”

 14:6 So he made 631 his chariot 7393 ready 631 and took 3947 his people 5971a with him;

 14:7 and he took 3947 six 8337a hundred 3967 select 977 chariots 7393, and all 3605 the [other] chariots 7393 of Egypt 4714 with officers 7991c over 5921 all 3605 of them.

 14:8 The LORD 3068 hardened 2388 the heart 3820 of Pharaoh 6547, king 4428 of Egypt 4714, and he chased 7291 after 310 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 as the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 were going 3318 out boldly 7311 3027.

 14:9 Then the Egyptians 4714 chased 7291 after 310 them [with] all 3605 the horses 5483b [and] chariots 7393 of Pharaoh 6547, his horsemen 6571b and his army 2428, and they overtook 5381 them camping 2583 by the sea 3220, beside 5921 Pi-hahiroth 6367, in front 6440 of Baal-zephon 1189.

 14:10 ¶ As Pharaoh 6547 drew 7126 near 7126, the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 looked 5375 5869, and behold 2009, the Egyptians 4714 were marching 5265 after 310 them, and they became 3372a very 3966 frightened 3372a; so the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 cried 6817 out to the LORD 3068.

 14:11 Then they said 559 to Moses 4872, “Is it because 4480 1097 there 369 were no 369 graves 6913 in Egypt 4714 that you have taken 3947 us away to die 4191 in the wilderness 4057b? Why 4100 have you dealt 6213a with us in this 2088 way 2088, bringing 3318 us out of Egypt 4714?

 14:12 “Is this 2088 not the word 1697 that we spoke 1696 to you in Egypt 4714, saying 559, ‘Leave 2308 us alone 4480 that we may serve 5647 the Egyptians 4714’? For it would have been better 2896a for us to serve 5647 the Egyptians 4714 than 4480 to die 4191 in the wilderness 4057b.”

 14:13 But Moses 4872 said 559 to the people 5971a, “Do not fear 3372a! Stand 3320 by and see 7200 the salvation 3444 of the LORD 3068 which 834 He will accomplish 6213a for you today 3117; for the Egyptians 4714 whom 834 you have seen 7200 today 3117, you will never 3808 5750 see 7200 them again 3254 forever 5704 5769.

 14:14 “The LORD 3068 will fight 3898a for you while you keep 2790b silent 2790b.”

 14:15 ¶ Then the LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Why 4100 are you crying 6817 out to Me? Tell 1696 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 to go 5265 forward 5265.

 14:16 “As for you, lift 7311 up your staff 4294 and stretch 5186 out your hand 3027 over 5921 the sea 3220 and divide 1234 it, and the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 shall go 935 through 935 the midst 8432 of the sea 3220 on dry 3004 land 3004.

 14:17 “As for Me, behold 2009, I will harden 2388 the hearts 3820 of the Egyptians 4714 so that they will go 935 in after 310 them; and I will be honored 3513 through Pharaoh 6547 and all 3605 his army 2428, through his chariots 7393 and his horsemen 6571b.

 14:18 “Then the Egyptians 4714 will know 3045 that I am the LORD 3068, when I am honored 3513 through Pharaoh 6547, through his chariots 7393 and his horsemen 6571b.”

 14:19 ¶ The angel 4397 of God 430, who had been going 1980 before 6440 the camp 4264 of Israel 3478, moved 5265 and went 1980 behind 4480 310 them; and the pillar 5982 of cloud 6051 moved 5265 from before 4480 6440 them and stood 5975 behind 4480 310 them.

 14:20 So it came 935 between 996 the camp 4264 of Egypt 4714 and the camp 4264 of Israel 3478; and there was the cloud 6051 along with the darkness 2822, yet it gave 215 light 215 at night 3915. Thus the one 2088 did not come 7126 near 7126 the other 2088 all 3605 night 3915.

 14:21 ¶ Then Moses 4872 stretched 5186 out his hand 3027 over 5921 the sea 3220; and the LORD 3068 swept 1980 the sea 3220 [back] by a strong 5794 east 6921 wind 7307 all 3605 night 3915 and turned 7760 the sea 3220 into dry 2724 land 2724, so the waters 4325 were divided 1234.

 14:22 The sons 1121 of Israel 3478 went 935 through 935 the midst 8432 of the sea 3220 on the dry 3004 land 3004, and the waters 4325 [were like] a wall 2346 to them on their right 3225 hand 3225 and on their left 8040.

 14:23 Then the Egyptians 4714 took 7291 up the pursuit 7291, and all 3605 Pharaoh’s 6547 horses 5483b, his chariots 7393 and his horsemen 6571b went 935 in after 310 them into the midst 8432 of the sea 3220.

 14:24 At the morning 1242 watch 821, the LORD 3068 looked 8259 down 8259 on the army 4264 of the Egyptians 4714 through the pillar 5982 of fire 784 and cloud 6051 and brought 2000 the army 4264 of the Egyptians 4714 into confusion 2000.

 14:25 He caused their chariot 4818 wheels 212 to swerve 5493, and He made them drive 5090a with difficulty 3517; so the Egyptians 4714 said 559, “Let us flee 5127 from Israel 3478, for the LORD 3068 is fighting 3898a for them against the Egyptians 4714.”

 14:26 ¶ Then the LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Stretch 5186 out your hand 3027 over 5921 the sea 3220 so that the waters 4325 may come 7725 back 7725 over 5921 the Egyptians 4714, over 5921 their chariots 7393 and their horsemen 6571b.”

 14:27 So Moses 4872 stretched 5186 out his hand 3027 over 5921 the sea 3220, and the sea 3220 returned 7725 to its normal 386 state 386 at daybreak 1242, while the Egyptians 4714 were fleeing 5127 right 7122 into it; then the LORD 3068 overthrew 5287 the Egyptians 4714 in the midst 8432 of the sea 3220.

 14:28 The waters 4325 returned 7725 and covered 3680 the chariots 7393 and the horsemen 6571b, even Pharaoh’s 6547 entire 3605 army 2428 that had gone 935 into the sea 3220 after 310 them; not even 5704 one 259 of them remained 7604.

 14:29 But the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 walked 1980 on dry 3004 land 3004 through the midst 8432 of the sea 3220, and the waters 4325 [were like] a wall 2346 to them on their right 3225 hand 3225 and on their left 8040.

 14:30 ¶ Thus the LORD 3068 saved 3467 Israel 3478 that day 3117 from the hand 3027 of the Egyptians 4714, and Israel 3478 saw 7200 the Egyptians 4714 dead 4191 on the seashore 3220 8193.

 14:31 When Israel 3478 saw 7200 the great 1419 power 3027 which 834 the LORD 3068 had used 6213a against the Egyptians 4714, the people 5971a feared 3372a the LORD 3068, and they believed 539 in the LORD 3068 and in His servant 5650 Moses 4872.
