Exodus 13

1 The firstborn are sanctified to God. 3 The memorial of the Passover is commanded. 11 The firstlings of beasts are set apart. 17 The Israelites go out of Egypt, and carry Joseph's bones with them. 20 They come to Etham. 21 God guideth them by a pillar of a cloud, and a pillar of fire.

 13:1 Then the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 13:2 “Sanctify 6942 to Me every 3605 firstborn 1060, the first 6363a offspring 6363a of every 3605 womb 7358 among the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, both of man 120 and beast 929; it belongs to Me.”

 13:3 ¶ Moses 4872 said 559 to the people 5971a, “Remember 2142 this 2088 day 3117 in which 834 you went 3318 out from Egypt 4714, from the house 1004 of slavery 5650; for by a powerful 2392 hand 3027 the LORD 3068 brought 3318 you out from this 2088 place. And nothing 3808 leavened 2557 shall be eaten 398.

 13:4 “On this day 3117 in the month 2320 of Abib 24, you are about to go 3318 forth 3318.

 13:5 “It shall be when 3588 the LORD 3068 brings 935 you to the land 776 of the Canaanite 3669a, the Hittite 2850, the Amorite 567, the Hivite 2340 and the Jebusite 2983, which 834 He swore 7650 to your fathers 1 to give 5414 you, a land 776 flowing 2100 with milk 2461 and honey 1706, that you shall observe 5647 this 2088 rite 5656 in this 2088 month 2320.

 13:6 “For seven 7651 days 3117 you shall eat 398 unleavened 4682 bread 4682, and on the seventh 7637 day 3117 there shall be a feast 2282 to the LORD 3068.

 13:7 “Unleavened 4682 bread 4682 shall be eaten 398 throughout the seven 7651 days 3117; and nothing 3808 leavened 2557 shall be seen 7200 among you, nor 3808 shall any leaven 7603 be seen 7200 among you in all 3605 your borders 1366.

 13:8 “You shall tell 5046 your son 1121 on that day 3117, saying 559, ‘It is because 5668 of what 2088 the LORD 3068 did 6213a for me when I came 3318 out of Egypt 4714.’

 13:9 “And it shall serve 1961 as a sign 226 to you on your hand 3027, and as a reminder 2146 on your forehead 996 5869, that the law 8451 of the LORD 3068 may be in your mouth 6310; for with a powerful 2389 hand 3027 the LORD 3068 brought 3318 you out of Egypt 4714.

 13:10 “Therefore, you shall keep 8104 this 2088 ordinance 2708 at its appointed 4150 time 4150 from year 3117 to year 3117.

 13:11 ¶ “Now when 3588 the LORD 3068 brings 935 you to the land 776 of the Canaanite 3669a, as He swore 7650 to you and to your fathers 1, and gives 5414 it to you,

 13:12 you shall devote 5674a to the LORD 3068 the first 6363a offspring 6363a of every 3605 womb 7358, and the first 6363a offspring 6363a of every 3605 beast 929 that you own 1961; the males 2145 belong to the LORD 3068.

 13:13 “But every 3605 first 6363a offspring 6363a of a donkey 2543 you shall redeem 6299 with a lamb 7716, but if 518 you do not redeem 6299 [it], then you shall break 6202 its neck 6202; and every 3605 firstborn 1060 of man 120 among your sons 1121 you shall redeem 6299.

 13:14 “And it shall be when 3588 your son 1121 asks 7592 you in time 4279 to come 4279, saying 559, ‘What 4100 is this 2088?’ then you shall say 559 to him, ‘With a powerful 2392 hand 3027 the LORD 3068 brought 3318 us out of Egypt 4714, from the house 1004 of slavery 5650.

 13:15 ‘It came 1961 about, when 3588 Pharaoh 6547 was stubborn 7185 about letting 7971 us go 7971, that the LORD 3068 killed 2026 every 3605 firstborn 1060 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, both 4480 the firstborn 1060 of man 120 and the firstborn 1060 of beast 929. Therefore 5921 3651, I sacrifice 2076 to the LORD 3068 the males 2145, the first 6363a offspring 6363a of every 3605 womb 7358, but every 3605 firstborn 1060 of my sons 1121 I redeem 6299.’

 13:16 “So it shall serve 1961 as a sign 226 on your hand 3027 and as phylacteries 2903 on your forehead 996 5869, for with a powerful 2392 hand 3027 the LORD 3068 brought 3318 us out of Egypt 4714.”

 13:17 ¶ Now when Pharaoh 6547 had let 7971 the people 5971a go 7971, God 430 did not lead 5148 them by the way 1870 of the land 776 of the Philistines 6430, even 3588 though 3588 it was near 7138; for God 430 said 559, “The people 5971a might 6435 change 5162 their minds 5162 when they see 7200 war 4421, and return 7725 to Egypt 4714.”

 13:18 Hence God 430 led 5437 the people 5971a around 5437 by the way 1870 of the wilderness 4057b to the Red 5488 3220 Sea 3220; and the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 went 5927 up in martial 2571 array 2571 from the land 776 of Egypt 4714.

 13:19 Moses 4872 took 3947 the bones 6106 of Joseph 3130 with him, for he had made the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 solemnly 7650 swear 7650, saying 559, “God 430 will surely 6485 take 6485 care 6485 of you, and you shall carry 5927 my bones 6106 from here 2088 with you.”

 13:20 Then they set 5265 out from Succoth 5523 and camped 2583 in Etham 864a on the edge 7097a of the wilderness 4057b.

 13:21 The LORD 3068 was going 1980 before 6440 them in a pillar 5982 of cloud 6051 by day 3119 to lead 5148 them on the way 1870, and in a pillar 5982 of fire 784 by night 3915 to give 215 them light 215, that they might travel 1980 by day 3119 and by night 3915.

 13:22 He did not take 4185 away 4185 the pillar 5982 of cloud 6051 by day 3119, nor 3808 the pillar 5982 of fire 784 by night 3915, from before 6440 the people 5971a.
