 1:1 ¶ And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° the son° of Däwiđ דָּוִד° was strengthened°° in° his kingdom,° and Yähwè יָהוֶה° his ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° [was] with° him, and magnified°° him exceedingly.°

 1:1 ¶ And Shelomoh the son of Dawid was strengthened in his kingdom, and Yahweh his Elohim [was] with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

 1:2 Then Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° spake°° unto all° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° to the captains° of thousands° and of hundreds,° and to the judges,°° and to every° governor° in all° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° the chief° of the fathers.°

 1:2 Then Shelomoh spake unto all Yisrael, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Yisrael, the chief of the fathers.

 1:3 So Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה,° and all° the congregation° with° him, went°°° to the high place° that° [was] at Giv`ôn גִּבעוֹן;° for° there° was° the tabernacle° of the congregation° of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° which° Möšè מֹשֶׁה° the servant° of Yähwè יָהוֶה° had made°° in the wilderness.°

 1:3 So Shelomoh, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that [was] at Givon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of Elohim, which Mosheh the servant of Yahweh had made in the wilderness.

 1:4 But° the ark° of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° had Däwiđ דָּוִד° brought up°° from Kiryaŧ Yæ`ärîm קִריַת־יְעָרִים°° to [the place which] Däwiđ דָּוִד° had prepared°° for it: for° he had pitched°° a tent° for it at Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם.°

 1:4 But the ark of Elohim had Dawid brought up from Qiryath-Yearim to [the place which] Dawid had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Yerushalaim.

 1:5 Moreover the brasen° altar,° that° Bæxal´ël בְּצַלאֵל° the son° of ´Ûrî אוּרִי,° the son° of Çûr חוּר,° had made,°° he put°° before° the tabernacle° of Yähwè יָהוֶה:° and Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° and the congregation° sought°° unto it.

 1:5 Moreover the brasen altar, that Betzalel the son of Uri, the son of Chur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of Yahweh: and Shelomoh and the congregation sought unto it.

 1:6 And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° went up°° thither° to° the brasen° altar° before° Yähwè יָהוֶה,° which° [was] at the tabernacle° of the congregation,° and offered°° a thousand° burnt offerings° upon° it.

 1:6 And Shelomoh went up thither to the brasen altar before Yahweh, which [was] at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

 1:7 ¶ In that° night° did ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° appear°° unto Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה,° and said°° unto him, Ask°° what° I shall give°° thee.

 1:7 ¶ In that night did Elohim appear unto Shelomoh, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

 1:8 And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° said°° unto ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° Thou° hast shewed°° great° mercy° unto° Däwiđ דָּוִד° my father,° and hast made me to reign°° in his stead.°

 1:8 And Shelomoh said unto Elohim, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto Dawid my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

 1:9 Now,° O Yähwè יָהוֶה° ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° let thy promise° unto° Däwiđ דָּוִד° my father° be established:°° for° thou° hast made me king°° over° a people° like the dust° of the earth° in multitude.°

 1:9 Now, O Yahweh Elohim, let thy promise unto Dawid my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

 1:10 Give°° me now° wisdom° and knowledge,° that I may go out°° and come in°° before° this° people:° for° who° can judge°° this°° thy people,° [that is so] great?°

 1:10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, [that is so] great?

 1:11 And ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° said°° to Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה,° Because°° this° was° in° thine heart,° and thou hast not° asked°° riches,° wealth,° or honour,° nor the life° of thine enemies,°° neither° yet° hast asked°° long° life;°° but hast asked°° wisdom° and knowledge° for thyself, that° thou mayest judge°°° my people,° over° whom° I have made thee king:°°

 1:11 And Elohim said to Shelomoh, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

 1:12 Wisdom° and knowledge° [is] granted°° unto thee; and I will give°° thee riches,° and wealth,° and honour,° such as°° none° of the kings° have had° that° [have been] before° thee, neither° shall there any after° thee have° the like.°

 1:12 Wisdom and knowledge [is] granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that [have been] before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

 1:13 ¶ Then Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° came°° [from his journey] to the high place° that° [was] at Giv`ôn גִּבעוֹן° to Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם,° from before°° the tabernacle° of the congregation,° and reigned°° over° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 1:13 ¶ Then Shelomoh came [from his journey] to the high place that [was] at Givon to Yerushalaim, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Yisrael.

 1:14 And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° gathered°° chariots° and horsemen:° and he had° a thousand° and four° hundred° chariots,° and twelve°° thousand° horsemen,° which he placed°°° in the chariot° cities,° and with° the king° at Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם.°

 1:14 And Shelomoh gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Yerushalaim.

 1:15 And the king° made°°° silver° and gold° at Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם° [as plenteous] as stones,° and cedar trees° made°° he as the sycomore trees° that° [are] in the vale° for abundance.°

 1:16 And Šælömò שְׁלֹמֹה° had horses° brought° out° of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם,°° and linen yarn:° the king's° merchants°° received°° the linen yarn° at a price.°

 1:16 And Shelomoh had horses brought out of Mitzrayim, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

 1:17 And they fetched up,°° and brought forth°° out of Mixrayim מִצרַיִם°° a chariot° for six° hundred° [shekels] of silver,° and an horse° for an hundred° and fifty:° and so° brought they out°° [horses] for all° the kings° of the Çittîm חִתִּים,° and for the kings° of ´Áräm אֲרָם,° by their means.°

 1:17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Mitzrayim a chariot for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out [horses] for all the kings of the Chittim, and for the kings of Aram, by their means.
