Yæhûđà

16:1 ¶
In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Basha king of Yisrael came up against Yehudah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Yehudah. |

Then

brought out°°
silver°
and gold°
out of the treasures°°
of the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
and of the king's°
house,°
and sent°°
to°
Ben Háđađ
בֶּן־הֲדַד°
king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם,°
that dwelt°°
at
Dammäŝek
דַּמָּשֶׂק,°
saying,°° |

16:2
Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Yahweh and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, that dwelt at Dammaseq, saying, |

[There is] a league°
between°
me and thee, as [there was] between°
my father°
and thy father:°
behold,°
I have sent°°
thee silver°
and gold;°
go,°°°
break°°
thy league°
with°
Ba`šä´
בַּעשָׁא°
king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
that he may depart°°
from°°
me. |

16:3
[There is] a league between me and thee, as [there was] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with Basha king of Yisrael, that he may depart from me. |

And

אָסָא,°
and sent°°°
the captains°
of his°
armies°
against°
the cities°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;°

עִיּוֹן,°
and
Dän
דָּן,°
and
´Ävël Mäyim
אָבֵל־מָיִם,°
and all°
the store°
cities°
of
Naftälî
נַפתָּלִי.° |

16:4
And Ben-Hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Yisrael; and they smote Iyyon, and Dan, and Avel-Mayim, and all the store cities of Naftali. |

16:5
And it came to pass,°
when
Ba`šä´
בַּעשָׁא°
heard°°
[it], that he left off°°
building°°°°
of
Rämà
רָמָה,°
and let°
his work°
cease.°° |

And it came to pass, when Basha heard [it], that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease. |

Then
´Äsä´
אָסָא°
the king°
took°°°
all°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה;°
and they carried away°°°
the stones°
of
Rämà
רָמָה,°
and the timber°
thereof, wherewith°
Ba`šä´
בַּעשָׁא°
was building;°°
and he built°°
therewith°
Geva`
גֶּבַע°
and
Mixpà
מִצפָּה.° |

16:6
Then Asa the king took all Yehudah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Basha was building; and he built therewith Geva and Mitzpah. |
|
16:7 ¶
And at that°
time°
Çánänî
חֲנָנִי°
the seer°°°
came°°
to°
´Äsä´
אָסָא°
king°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and said°°
unto°
him, Because thou hast relied°°
on°
the king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם,°
and not°
relied°°
on°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
thy
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
therefore°°
is the host°
of the king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם°
escaped°°
out of thine hand.°° |

16:7 ¶
And at that time Chanani the seer came to Asa king of Yehudah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Aram, and not relied on Yahweh thy Elohim, therefore is the host of the king of Aram escaped out of thine hand. |

16:8
Were°
not°
the
Cûšîm
כּוּשִׁים°
and the
Lûvîm
לוּבִים°
a huge°
host,°
with very°
many°°
chariots°
and horsemen?°
yet, because thou didst rely°°
on°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
he delivered°°
them into thine hand.° |

16:8
Were not the Kushim and the Luvim a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on Yahweh, he delivered them into thine hand. |
|
16:9
For°
the eyes°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
run to and fro°°
throughout the whole°
earth,°
to shew himself strong°°
in the behalf of°
[them] whose heart°
[is] perfect°
toward°
him. Herein°°
thou hast done foolishly:°°
therefore°
from henceforth°°
thou shalt have°
wars.° |

16:9
For the eyes of Yahweh run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of [them] whose heart [is] perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. |
|
16:10
Then
´Äsä´
אָסָא°
was wroth°°
with°
the seer,°°°
and put°°
him in a prison°
house;°
for°
[he was] in a rage°
with°
him because of°
this°
[thing]. And
´Äsä´
אָסָא°
oppressed°°
[some] of°
the people°
the same°
time.° |

Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for [he was] in a rage with him because of this [thing]. And Asa oppressed [some] of the people the same time. |

16:11 ¶
And, behold,°
the acts°
of
´Äsä´
אָסָא,°
first°
and last,°
lo,°
they [are] written°°
in°
the book°
of the kings°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

16:11 ¶
And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they [are] written in the book of the kings of Yehudah and Yisrael. |

16:12
And
´Äsä´
אָסָא°
in the thirty°
and ninth°
year°
of his reign°
was diseased°°
in his feet,°
until°
his disease°
[was] exceeding°
[great]: yet°
in his disease°
he sought°°
not°°
to
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
but°
to the physicians.°° |

16:12
And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease [was] exceeding [great]: yet in his disease he sought not to Yahweh, but to the physicians. |
|
16:13 ¶
And
´Äsä´
אָסָא°
slept°°
with°
his fathers,°
and died°°
in the one°
and fortieth°
year°
of his reign.°° |

16:13 ¶
And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign. |

16:14
And they buried°°
him in his own sepulchres,°
which°
he had made°°
for himself in the city°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
and laid°°
him in the bed°
which°
was filled°°
with sweet odours°
and divers kinds°
[of spices] prepared°°
by the apothecaries'°
art:°°°
and they made°°
a very°°
great°
burning°
for him. |

And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of Dawid, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds [of spices] prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him. |
