the fenced°°
cities,°
and thought°°
to win°°
them for°
himself. |

After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sancheriv king of Ashshur came, and entered into Yehudah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself. |

And when

was come,°°
and that he was purposed°
to fight°
against°
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,° |

And when Chizqiyyah saw that Sancheriv was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Yerushalaim, |

He took counsel°°
with°
his princes°
and his mighty men°
to stop°°°
the waters°
of the fountains°
which°
[were] without°°
the city:°
and they did help°°
him. |

So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Ashshur come, and find much water? |

32:5
Also he strengthened°°
himself,°
and built up°°°
all°
the wall°
that was broken,°°
and raised [it] up°°
to°
the towers,°
and another°
wall°
without,°
and repaired°°°
Millô´
מִלּוֹא°
[in] the city°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
and made°°
darts°
and shields°
in abundance.° |

Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised [it] up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo [in] the city of Dawid, and made darts and shields in abundance. |

And he set°°
captains°
of war°
over°
the people,°
and gathered them together°°
to°
him in°
the street°
of the gate°
of the city,°
and spake°°
comfortably°°
to them, saying,°° |

him: for°
[there be] more°

us than with°°

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Ashshur, nor for all the multitude that [is] with him: for [there be] more with us than with him: |

him [is] an arm°
of flesh;°

us [is]

אֱלֹהִים°
to help°°
us, and to fight°°
our battles.°
And the people°
rested°°
themselves°
upon°
the words°
of
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
king°

Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה.° |

With him [is] an arm of flesh; but with us [is] Yahweh our Elohim to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Chizqiyyah king of Yehudah. |

32:9 ¶
After°
this°

´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר°
send°°
his servants°
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
(but he°
[himself laid siege] against°
Läȼîš
לָכִישׁ,°
and all°
his power°
with°
him,) unto°
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
king°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and unto°
all°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
that°
[were] at
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°

32:9 ¶
After this did Sancheriv king of Ashshur send his servants to Yerushalaim, (but he [himself laid siege] against Lakhish, and all his power with him,) unto Chizqiyyah king of Yehudah, and unto all Yehudah that [were] at Yerushalaim, saying, |

that ye abide°°

Thus saith Sancheriv king of Ashshur, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Yerushalaim? |

Doth not°
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
persuade°°
you to give°°
over°
yourselves to die°°
by famine°
and by thirst,°
saying,°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
shall deliver°°
us out of the hand°°
of the king°
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר?° |

32:11
Doth not Chizqiyyah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, Yahweh our Elohim shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Ashshur? |

32:12
Hath not°
the same°
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
taken away°°°
his high places°
and his altars,°
and commanded°°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
saying,°°
Ye shall worship°°
before°
one°
altar,°
and burn incense°°
upon°
it? |

Hath not the same Chizqiyyah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Yehudah and Yerushalaim, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it? |

Know°°
ye not°
what°
I°
and my fathers°
have done°°
unto all°
the people°
of [other] lands?°
were the
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of the nations°
of those lands°
any ways°°
able°°
to deliver°°°
their lands°
out of mine hand?°° |

Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of [other] lands? were the elohim of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand? |

32:14
Who°
[was there] among all°
the
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of those°
nations°
that°
my fathers°
utterly destroyed,°°
that°
could°°
deliver°°°
his people°
out of mine hand,°°
that°
your
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
should be able°°
to deliver°°
you out of mine hand?°° |

Who [was there] among all the elohim of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your Elohim should be able to deliver you out of mine hand? |

32:15
Now°
therefore let not°°
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
deceive°°
you, nor°
persuade°°
you on this manner,°
neither°
yet believe°°
him: for°
no°°
´élôåh
אֱלוֹהַ°
of any°
nation°
or kingdom°
was able°°
to deliver°°
his people°
out of mine hand,°°
and out of the hand°°
of my fathers:°
how much less°°
shall your
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
deliver°°
you out of mine hand?°° |

Now therefore let not Chizqiyyah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no eloah of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your Elohim deliver you out of mine hand? |

And his servants°

32:16
And his servants spake yet [more] against Yahweh Elohim, and against his servant Chizqiyyah. |

32:17
He wrote°°
also letters°
to rail°°
on
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and to speak°°
against°
him, saying,°°
As the
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of the nations°
of [other] lands°
have not°
delivered°°
their people°
out of mine hand,°°
so°
shall not°
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
deliver°°
his people°
out of mine hand.°° |

32:17
He wrote also letters to rail on Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael, and to speak against him, saying, As the elohim of the nations of [other] lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the Elohim of Chizqiyyah deliver his people out of mine hand. |

32:18
Then they cried°°

unto°
the people°
of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
that°
[were] on°
the wall,°
to affright°°
them, and to trouble°°
them; that°
they might take°°°

Then they cried with a loud voice in the Yehudim's speech unto the people of Yerushalaim that [were] on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city. |

32:19
And they spake°°
against°°
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
as against°
the
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of the people°
of the earth,°
[which were] the work°
of the hands°
of man.° |

And they spake against the Elohim of Yerushalaim, as against the elohim of the people of the earth, [which were] the work of the hands of man. |
|
32:20
And for°
this°
[cause]
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
the king,°
and the prophet°
Yæša`yà
יְשַׁעיָה°
the son°
of
´Ämôx
אָמוֹץ,°
prayed°°
and cried°°
to heaven.° |

And for this [cause] Chizqiyyah the king, and the prophet Yeshayah the son of Amotz, prayed and cried to heaven. |
|
32:21 ¶
And
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
sent°°
an angel,°
which cut off°°
all°
the mighty men°
of valour,°
and the leaders°
and captains°
in the camp°
of the king°
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר.°
So he returned°°
with shame°
of face°
to his own land.°
And when he was come°°
into°
the house°
of his
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
they that came forth°°
of his own bowels°
slew°°
him there°
with the sword.° |

32:21 ¶
And Yahweh sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Ashshur. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his elohim, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword. |

[other], and guided°°
them on every side.°° |

32:22
Thus Yahweh saved Chizqiyyah and the inhabitants of Yerushalaim from the hand of Sancheriv the king of Ashshur, and from the hand of all [other], and guided them on every side. |
|
32:23
And many°
brought°°
gifts°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
and presents°
to
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
king°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה:°
so that he was magnified°°
in the sight°
of all°
nations°
from thenceforth.°°° |

And many brought gifts unto Yahweh to Yerushalaim, and presents to Chizqiyyah king of Yehudah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth. |
|
32:24 ¶
In those°
days°
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
was sick°°
to°
the death,°°
and prayed°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:°
and he spake°°
unto him, and he gave°°
him a sign.° |
|
32:24 ¶
In those days Chizqiyyah was sick to the death, and prayed unto Yahweh: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign. |
|
32:25
But
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
rendered not again°°°
according to the benefit°
[done] unto°
him; for°
his heart°
was lifted up:°°
therefore there was°
wrath°
upon°
him, and upon°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

32:25
But Chizqiyyah rendered not again according to the benefit [done] unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Yehudah and Yerushalaim. |
|
32:26
Notwithstanding
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
humbled°°
himself°
for the pride°
of his heart,°
[both] he°
and the inhabitants°°
of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
so that the wrath°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
came°°
not°
upon°
them in the days°
of
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה.° |

32:26
Notwithstanding Chizqiyyah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, [both] he and the inhabitants of Yerushalaim, so that the wrath of Yahweh came not upon them in the days of Chizqiyyah. |
|
32:27 ¶
And

חִזקִיָּה°
had°
exceeding°
much°°
riches°
and honour:°
and he made°°
himself treasuries°
for silver,°
and for gold,°
and for precious°
stones,°
and for spices,°
and for shields,°
and for all manner°
of pleasant°
jewels;° |

And Chizqiyyah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels; |

Storehouses°
also for the increase°
of corn,°
and wine,°
and oil;°
and stalls°
for all manner°
of beasts,°
and cotes°
for flocks.° |

This same Chizqiyyah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gichon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of Dawid. And Chizqiyyah prospered in all his works. |

Howbeit°
in [the business of] the ambassadors°°

unto°
him to enquire°°

the wonder°
that°
was°
[done] in the land,°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°

him, to try°°
him, that he might know°°

Howbeit in [the business of] the ambassadors of the princes of Bavel, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was [done] in the land, Elohim left him, to try him, that he might know all [that was] in his heart. |

32:32 ¶

And Chizqiyyah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of Dawid: and all Yehudah and the inhabitants of Yerushalaim did him honour at his death. And Menashsheh his son reigned in his stead. |
