Now Yehoshafat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Achav. |

[certain] years°
he went down°°

שֹׁמרוֹן.°
And
´Aç´äv

killed°°
sheep°
and oxen°
for him in abundance,°
and for the people°
that°
[he had] with°
him, and persuaded°°
him to go up°°
[with him] to°
Rämôŧ Gil`äđ
רָמוֹת־גִּלעָד.°° |

18:2
And after [certain] years he went down to Achav to Shomron. And Achav killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that [he had] with him, and persuaded him to go up [with him] to Ramoth-Gilad. |

as thy people;°

thee in the war.° |

And Achav king of Yisrael said unto Yehoshafat king of Yehudah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-Gilad? And he answered him, I [am] as thou [art], and my people as thy people; and [we will be] with thee in the war. |

And Yehoshafat said unto the king of Yisrael, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of Yahweh to day. |

Therefore the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
gathered together°°°
of prophets°
four°
hundred°
men,°
and said°°
unto°
them, Shall we go°°°
to°
Rämôŧ Gil`äđ
רָמוֹת־גִּלעָד°°
to battle,°
or°
shall I forbear?°°
And they said,°°
Go up;°°
for
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
will deliver°°
[it] into the king's°
hand.° |

Therefore the king of Yisrael gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-Gilad to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for Elohim will deliver [it] into the king's hand. |
|

יָהוֶה°
besides,°
that we might enquire°°
of him?°° |

But Yehoshafat said, [Is there] not here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we might enquire of him? |

יְהוֹשָׁפָט,°
[There is] yet°
one°
man,°
by whom°°
we may enquire°°

יָהוֶה:°

hate°°
him; for°
he never°
prophesied°°
good°
unto°
me, but°
always°°
evil:°
the same°
[is]

And

Let not°
the king°
say°°

And the king of Yisrael said unto Yehoshafat, [There is] yet one man, by whom we may enquire of Yahweh: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same [is] Mikhayhu the son of Yimla. And Yehoshafat said, Let not the king say so. |

Fetch quickly°°

And the king of Yisrael called for one [of his] officers, and said, Fetch quickly Mikhayhu the son of Yimla. |

And the king°

יִשׂרָאֵל°

יְהוֹשָׁפָט°
king°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
sat°°
either°
of them on°
his throne,°
clothed°°
in [their] robes,°
and they sat°°
in a void place°
at the entering in°
of the gate°
of
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן;°
and all°
the prophets°
prophesied°°
before°
them. |

And the king of Yisrael and Yehoshafat king of Yehudah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in [their] robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Shomron; and all the prophets prophesied before them. |
|
18:10

him horns°
of iron,°

Thus°

יָהוֶה,°
With these°
thou shalt push°°°

they be consumed.°° |

And Tzidqiyyah the son of Kenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith Yahweh, With these thou shalt push Aram until they be consumed. |

18:11
And all°
the prophets°
prophesied°°
so,°
saying,°°
Go up°°
to
Rämôŧ Gil`äđ
רָמוֹת־גִּלעָד,°°
and prosper:°°
for
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
shall deliver°°
[it] into the hand°
of the king.° |

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-Gilad, and prosper: for Yahweh shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king. |

And the messenger°
that°
went°°
to call°°

מִיכָיהוּ°
spake°°
to°
him, saying,°°
Behold,°
the words°
of the prophets°
[declare] good°
to°
the king°
with one°
assent;°
let thy word°
therefore, I pray thee,°
be°
like one°
of°
theirs, and speak°°
thou good.° |

And the messenger that went to call Mikhayhu spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets [declare] good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good. |

And Mikhayhu said, [As] Yahweh liveth, even what my Elohim saith, that will I speak. |

And when he was come°°

the king,°
the king°

unto°
him,

רָמוֹת־גִּלעָד°°
to battle,°
or°
shall I forbear?°°
And he said,°°

and prosper,°°

And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Mikhah, shall we go to Ramoth-Gilad to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand. |

times°
shall I°
adjure°°
thee that°
thou say°°
nothing°
but°
the truth°

me in the name°

Yähwè
יָהוֶה?° |

And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of Yahweh? |

18:16
Then he said,°°
I did see°°°
all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
scattered°°
upon°
the mountains,°
as sheep°
that°
have no°
shepherd:°°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
said,°°
These°
have no°
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן;°
let them return°°
[therefore] every man°
to his house°
in peace.° |

18:16
Then he said, I did see all Yisrael scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and Yahweh said, These have no adon; let them return [therefore] every man to his house in peace. |
|
18:17
And the king°

to°
Yæhôšäfäţ
יְהוֹשָׁפָט,°
Did I not°
tell°°°
thee [that] he would not°
prophesy°°
good°
unto°
me, but°°
evil?° |

18:17
And the king of Yisrael said to Yehoshafat, Did I not tell thee [that] he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil? |
|
18:18
Again he said,°°
Therefore°
hear°°
the word°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה;°
I saw°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
sitting°°
upon°
his throne,°
and all°
the host°
of heaven°
standing°°
on°
his right hand°
and [on] his left.° |

Again he said, Therefore hear the word of Yahweh; I saw Yahweh sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and [on] his left. |
|
18:19
And

יִשׂרָאֵל,°
that he may go up°°
and fall°°

spake°°

after this manner,°
and another°
saying°°
after that manner.° |

18:19
And Yahweh said, Who shall entice Achav king of Yisrael, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-Gilad? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. |
|
18:20
Then there came out°°
a spirit,°
and stood°°
before°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and said,°°
I°
will entice°°
him. And
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
said°°
unto°
him, Wherewith?° |

18:20
Then there came out a spirit, and stood before Yahweh, and said, I will entice him. And Yahweh said unto him, Wherewith? |
|
18:21
And he said,°°
I will go out,°°
and be°
a lying°
spirit°
in the mouth°
of all°
his prophets.°
And
[Yähwè
יָהוֶה] said,°°
Thou shalt entice°°
[him], and thou shalt also°
prevail:°°
go out,°°
and do°°
[even] so.° |

And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And [Yahweh] said, Thou shalt entice [him], and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do [even] so. |

therefore, behold,°

hath put°°
a lying°
spirit°
in the mouth°
of these°
thy prophets,°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
hath spoken°°
evil°
against°
thee. |

Now therefore, behold, Yahweh hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and Yahweh hath spoken evil against thee. |

Then Tzidqiyyah the son of Kenaanah came near, and smote Mikhayhu upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of Yahweh from me to speak unto thee? |

18:24
And

said,°°
Behold,°
thou shalt see°°
on that°
day°
when°
thou shalt go°°
into an inner°
chamber°
to hide°°
thyself.° |

18:24
And Mikhayhu said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself. |
|
18:25
Then the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
said,°°
Take°°
ye°
Mîȼäyhû
מִיכָיהוּ,°
and carry him back°°
to°
´Ämôn
אָמוֹן°
the governor°
of the city,°
and to°
Yô´äš
יוֹאָשׁ°
the king's°
son;° |

18:25
Then the king of Yisrael said, Take ye Mikhayhu, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Yoash the king's son; |
|
18:26
And say,°°
Thus°
saith°°
the king,°
Put°°
this°
[fellow] in the prison,°°
and feed°°
him with bread°
of affliction°
and with water°
of affliction,°
until°
I return°°
in peace.° |

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this [fellow] in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace. |

And Mikhayhu said, If thou certainly return in peace, [then] hath not Yahweh spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people. |

went up°°

So the king of Yisrael and Yehoshafat the king of Yehudah went up to Ramoth-Gilad. |

unto°

יְהוֹשָׁפָט,°
I will disguise°°
myself,°
and will go°°
to the battle;°
but put°°
thou on°°
thy robes.°
So the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
disguised°°
himself;°
and they went°°
to the battle.° |

And the king of Yisrael said unto Yehoshafat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Yisrael disguised himself; and they went to the battle. |

18:30
Now the king°

had commanded°°°
the captains°
of the chariots°
that°
[were] with him, saying,°°
Fight°°
ye not°
with°
small°
or°
great,°
save°°
only°
with°
the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of the chariots that [were] with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Yisrael. |
|
18:31
And it came to pass,°
when the captains°
of the chariots°
saw°°°
Yæhôšäfäţ
יְהוֹשָׁפָט,°
that they°
said,°°
It°
[is] the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.°
Therefore they compassed°
about°°°
him to fight:°°
but
Yæhôšäfäţ
יְהוֹשָׁפָט°
cried out,°°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
helped°°
him; and
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
moved°°
them [to depart] from°
him. |

18:31
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Yehoshafat, that they said, It [is] the king of Yisrael. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Yehoshafat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and Elohim moved them [to depart] from him. |

18:32
For it came to pass,°
that, when the captains°
of the chariots°
perceived°°
that°
it was°
not°
the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
they turned back again°°
from pursuing°°
him. |

For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Yisrael, they turned back again from pursuing him. |
|
18:33
And a [certain] man°
drew°°
a bow°
at a venture,°
and smote°°°
the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
between°
the joints°
of the harness:°
therefore he said°°
to his chariot°
man,°°
Turn°°
thine hand,°
that thou mayest carry me out°°
of°
the host;°
for°
I am wounded.°° |

18:33
And a [certain] man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Yisrael between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded. |

18:34
And the battle°
increased°°
that°
day:°
howbeit the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
stayed [himself] up°°°
in [his] chariot°
against°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
until°
the even:°
and about the time°
of the sun°
going down°°
he died.°° |

18:34
And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Yisrael stayed [himself] up in [his] chariot against the Arammim until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died. |
