34:1 ¶
Yoshiyyah [was] eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Yerushalaim one and thirty years. |
|
34:2
And he did°°
[that which was] right°
in the sight°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and walked°°°
in the ways°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
his father,°
and declined°°
[neither] to the right hand,°
nor to the left.° |

And he did [that which was] right in the sight of Yahweh, and walked in the ways of Dawid his father, and declined [neither] to the right hand, nor to the left. |

34:3 ¶
For in the eighth°
year°
of his reign,°°
while he°
was yet°
young,°
he began°°
to seek°°
after the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
his father:°
and in the twelfth°°
year°
he began°°
to purge°°°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
from°
the high places,°
and the groves,°
and the carved images,°
and the molten images.° |

34:3 ¶
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the Elohim of Dawid his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Yehudah and Yerushalaim from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images. |
|
34:4
And they brake down°°°
the altars°
of
Bæ`älîm
בְּעָלִים°
in his presence;°
and the images,°
that°
[were] on high°
above°°
them,°
he cut down;°°
and the groves,°
and the carved images,°
and the molten images,°
he brake in pieces,°°
and made dust°°
[of them], and strowed°°
[it] upon°°
the graves°
of them that had sacrificed°°
unto them. |

34:4
And they brake down the altars of Bealim in his presence; and the images, that [were] on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust [of them], and strowed [it] upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them. |
|
34:5
And he burnt°°
the bones°
of the priests°
upon°
their altars,°
and cleansed°°°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

34:5
And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Yehudah and Yerushalaim. |

34:6
And [so did he] in the cities°
of
Mænaššè
מְנַשֶּׁה,°
and
´Efrayim
אֶפרַיִם,°
and
Šim`ôn
שִׁמעוֹן,°
even unto°
Naftälî
נַפתָּלִי,°
with their mattocks°
round about.° |

And [so did he] in the cities of Menashsheh, and Efrayim, and Shimon, even unto Naftali, with their mattocks round about. |

34:7
And when he had broken down°°°
the altars°
and the groves,°
and had beaten°°
the graven images°
into powder,°°
and cut down°°
all°
the idols°
throughout all°
the land°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
he returned°°
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Yisrael, he returned to Yerushalaim. |

34:8 ¶
Now in the eighteenth°°
year°
of his reign,°°
when he had purged°°
the land,°
and the house,°
he sent°°°

the son°
of
´Áxalyà
אֲצַליָה,°
and
Ma`áŝëyà
מַעֲשֵׂיָה°
the governor°
of the city,°

the recorder,°°
to repair°°°
the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
his
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |

34:8 ¶
Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shafan the son of Atzalyah, and Maaseyah the governor of the city, and Yoach the son of Yoachaz the recorder, to repair the house of Yahweh his Elohim. |

And when they came°°

חִלקִיָּה°
the high°
priest,°
they delivered°°°
the money°
that was brought°°
into°
the house°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
which°
the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם°
that kept°°
the doors°
had gathered°°
of the hand°°
of
Mænaššè
מְנַשֶּׁה°
and
´Efrayim
אֶפרַיִם,°
and of all°°
the remnant°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and of all°°
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Binyämîn
בִּניָמִין;°
and they returned°°°°°
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

And when they came to Chilqiyyah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of Elohim, which the Lewiyyim that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Menashsheh and Efrayim, and of all the remnant of Yisrael, and of all Yehudah and Binyamin; and they returned to Yerushalaim. |

of the workmen°°°
that had the oversight°°
of the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and they gave°°
it to the workmen°°°
that°
wrought°°
in the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
to repair°°
and amend°°
the house:° |

And they put [it] in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of Yahweh, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of Yahweh, to repair and amend the house: |

Even to the artificers°
and builders°°
gave°°
they [it], to buy°°
hewn°
stone,°
and timber°
for couplings,°
and to floor°°°
the houses°
which°
the kings°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
had destroyed.°° |

Even to the artificers and builders gave they [it], to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Yehudah had destroyed. |

And the men°°

faithfully:°
and the overseers°°

them [were]

to set [it] forward;°°
and [other of] the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם,°

that could skill°°
of instruments°

And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them [were] Yachath and Ovadyah, the Lewiyyim, of the sons of Merari; and Zekharyah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Qehathim, to set [it] forward; and [other of] the Lewiyyim, all that could skill of instruments of musick. |

Also [they were] over°
the bearers of burdens,°
and [were] overseers°°
of all°
that wrought°°
the work°
in any manner of service:°
and of°
the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם°
[there were] scribes,°°
and officers,°°
and porters.° |

34:14 ¶
And when they brought out°°°
the money°
that was brought into°°

חִלקִיָּה°
the priest°
found°°°
a book°
of the law°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
[given] by°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה.° |

34:14 ¶
And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of Yahweh, Chilqiyyah the priest found a book of the law of Yahweh [given] by Mosheh. |

And

and said°°
to°

שָׁפָן°
the scribe,°°
I have found°°
the book°
of the law°
in the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.°
And

And Chilqiyyah answered and said to Shafan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Yahweh. And Chilqiyyah delivered the book to Shafan. |

the king,°
and brought°°°
the king°
word°
back°°
again,°
saying,°°
All°
that°
was committed°°
to°
thy servants,°°
they°
do°°

And Shafan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do [it]. |

And they have gathered together°°°
the money°
that was found°°
in the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and have delivered°°
it into°
the hand°
of the overseers,°°
and to°
the hand°
of the workmen.°°° |

And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of Yahweh, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen. |

me a book.°
And

Then Shafan the scribe told the king, saying, Chilqiyyah the priest hath given me a book. And Shafan read it before the king. |

And it came to pass,°
when the king°

that he rent°°°
his clothes.° |

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes. |

And the king commanded Chilqiyyah, and Achiqam the son of Shafan, and Avdon the son of Mikhah, and Shafan the scribe, and Asayah a servant of the king's, saying, |

יָהוֶה°
for°
me, and for°
them that are left°°
in
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°

Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
concerning°
the words°
of the book°
that°

[is] the wrath°

Yähwè
יָהוֶה°

Go, enquire of Yahweh for me, and for them that are left in Yisrael and in Yehudah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great [is] the wrath of Yahweh that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of Yahweh, to do after all that is written in this book. |

34:22
And

the prophetess,°
the wife°

dwelt°°

Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
in the college:)°
and they spake°°
to°
her to that°
[effect]. |

And Chilqiyyah, and [they] that the king [had appointed], went to Chuldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Toqhath, the son of Chasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Yerushalaim in the college:) and they spake to her to that [effect]. |

34:23 ¶
And she answered°°
them, Thus°
saith°°

יָהוֶה°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
Tell°°
ye the man°
that°
sent°°
you to°
me, |

And she answered them, Thus saith Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael, Tell ye the man that sent you to me, |

יָהוֶה,°
Behold,°
I will bring°°
evil°
upon°
this°
place,°
and upon°
the inhabitants°°
thereof, [even]°
all°
the curses°
that are written°°
in°
the book°
which°
they have read°°
before°
the king°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה:° |

Thus saith Yahweh, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, [even] all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Yehudah: |

Because°°
they have forsaken°°
me, and have burned incense°°°°
unto other°
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
that°
they might provoke me to anger°°
with all°
the works°
of their hands;°
therefore my wrath°
shall be poured out°°
upon this°
place,°
and shall not°
be quenched.°° |

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other elohim, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched. |

you to enquire°°

Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
so°
shall ye say°°
unto°
him, Thus°
saith°°
Yähwè

thou hast heard;°° |

And as for the king of Yehudah, who sent you to enquire of Yahweh, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael [concerning] the words which thou hast heard; |

Because°
thine heart°
was tender,°°
and thou didst humble°°
thyself°
before°°
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
when thou heardest°°°
his words°
against°
this°
place,°
and against°
the inhabitants°°
thereof, and humbledst°°
thyself°
before°
me, and didst rend°°°
thy clothes,°
and weep°°
before°
me; I°
have even heard°°
[thee] also,°
saith°°

יָהוֶה.° |

Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Elohim, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard [thee] also, saith Yahweh. |

34:28
Behold,°
I will gather°°
thee to°
thy fathers,°
and thou shalt be gathered°°
to°
thy grave°
in peace,°
neither°
shall thine eyes°
see°°
all°
the evil°
that°
I°
will bring°°
upon°
this°
place,°
and upon°
the inhabitants°°
of the same. So they brought°°°
the king°
word°

Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again. |

and

יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Yehudah and Yerushalaim. |

into the house°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and all°
the men°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and the inhabitants°°
of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
and the priests,°
and the

לְוִיִּם,°
and all°
the people,°
great°°
and small:°
and he read°°
in their ears°°
all°
the words°
of the book°
of the covenant°
that was found°°
in the house°

Yähwè

And the king went up into the house of Yahweh, and all the men of Yehudah, and the inhabitants of Yerushalaim, and the priests, and the Lewiyyim, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of Yahweh. |

And the king°

a covenant°
before°

after°

and to keep°°°
his commandments,°
and his testimonies,°
and his statutes,°

And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Yahweh, to walk after Yahweh, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book. |

And he caused°

that were present°°

בִּניָמִין°
to stand°°
[to it]. And the inhabitants°°
of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
did°°
according to the covenant°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of their fathers.° |

34:32
And he caused all that were present in Yerushalaim and Binyamin to stand [to it]. And the inhabitants of Yerushalaim did according to the covenant of Elohim, the Elohim of their fathers. |

34:33
And
Yö´šiyyà
יֹאשִׁיָּה°
took away°°°
all°
the abominations°
out of°
all°
the countries°
that°
[pertained] to the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and made°
all°
that were present°°
in
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
to serve,°°
[even] to serve°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
their
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.°
[And] all°
his days°
they departed°°
not°
from following°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
of their fathers.° |

34:33
And Yoshiyyah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that [pertained] to the children of Yisrael, and made all that were present in Yisrael to serve, [even] to serve Yahweh their Elohim. [And] all his days they departed not from following Yahweh, the Elohim of their fathers. |
