to fight°°
against°

יִשׂרָאֵל,°
that he might bring°°°
the kingdom°
again°°
to
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם.° |

11:1 ¶
And when Rechavam was come to Yerushalaim, he gathered of the house of Yehudah and Binyamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen [men], which were warriors, to fight against Yisrael, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rechavam. |

But the word°

שְׁמַעיָה°
the man°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
saying,°° |

But the word of Yahweh came to Shemayah the man of Elohim, saying, |

king°

Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and to°
all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°

יְהוּדָה°

Binyämîn
בִּניָמִין,°

Speak unto Rechavam the son of Shelomoh, king of Yehudah, and to all Yisrael in Yehudah and Binyamin, saying, |

Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
Ye shall not°
go up,°°
nor°
fight°°
against°
your brethren:°
return°°
every man°
to his house:°
for°
this°
thing°
is done°°
of°°
me. And they obeyed°°°
the words°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and returned°°
from going°°°°
against°
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם.° |

Thus saith Yahweh, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of Yahweh, and returned from going against Yorovam. |

for defence°

And Rechavam dwelt in Yerushalaim, and built cities for defence in Yehudah. |

And Adorayim, and Lakhish, and Azeqah, |

which°
[are] in
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and in
Binyämîn

fenced°

And Tzorah, and Ayyalon, and Chevron, which [are] in Yehudah and in Binyamin fenced cities. |

And he fortified°°°
the strong holds,°
and put°°
captains°
in them, and store°
of victual,°
and of oil°
and wine.° |

And he fortified the strong holds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine. |

[he put] shields°
and spears,°
and made them exceeding°°°

And in every several city [he put] shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Yehudah and Binyamin on his side. |

And the priests°
and the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם°

[were] in all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
resorted°°
to°
him out of all°°
their coasts.° |

11:13 ¶
And the priests and the Lewiyyim that [were] in all Yisrael resorted to him out of all their coasts. |

the
Læwiyyim
לְוִיִּם°
left°°°
their suburbs°
and their possession,°
and came°°°
to
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם:°
for°
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
and his sons°
had cast them off°°
from executing the priest's office°°°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:° |

For the Lewiyyim left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Yehudah and Yerushalaim: for Yorovam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto Yahweh: |

And he ordained°°
him priests°
for the high places,°
and for the devils,°
and for the calves°
which°
he had made.°° |

And after them out of all the tribes of Yisrael such as set their hearts to seek Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael came to Yerushalaim, to sacrifice unto Yahweh Elohim of their fathers. |

So they strengthened°°°
the kingdom°

Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה,°
and made°
Ræçav`äm
רְחַבעָם°
the son°

Šælömò
שְׁלֹמֹה°
strong,°°
three°
years:°
for°
three°
years°
they walked°°
in the way°

Däwiđ

So they strengthened the kingdom of Yehudah, and made Rechavam the son of Shelomoh strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of Dawid and Shelomoh. |

And Rechavam took him Machalath the daughter of Yerimoth the son of Dawid to wife, [and] Avichayil the daughter of Eliav the son of Yishay; |

שְׁמַריָה,°

Which bare him children; Yeush, and Shemaryah, and Zaham. |

אֲבִיָּה,°

`Attäy

And after her he took Maakhah the daughter of Avshalom; which bare him Aviyyah, and Attay, and Ziza, and Shelomith. |

and his concubines:°

And Rechavam loved Maakhah the daughter of Avshalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.) |

And he dealt wisely,°°

בִּניָמִין,°
unto every°
fenced°
city:°
and he gave°°
them victual°
in abundance.°
And he desired°°
many°

And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Yehudah and Binyamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives. |
