Then allº
the peopleº

יְהוּדָהº
tookººº
`Uzziyyà

whoº
[was] sixteenºº
yearsº
old,º
and made him kingººº
in the room ofº
his fatherº
´Ámaxyà
אֲמַציָה.º |
|
 26:1 ¶
Then all the people of Yehudah took Uzziyyah, who [was] sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amatzyah. |
 26:2
Heº
builtººº
´Ëlô±
אֵלוֹת,º
and restoredºº
it to
Yæhûðà
יְהוּדָה,º
afterº
thatº
the kingº
sleptºº
withº
his fathers.º |
|
 26:2
He built Eloth, and restored it to Yehudah, after that the king slept with his fathers. |
 26:3
Sixteenºº
yearsº
oldº
[was]
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
when he began to reign,ºº
and he reignedºº
fiftyº
and twoº
yearsº
in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.º
His mother'sº
nameº
also [was]

יְכָליָהº
ofº
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.º |
|
 26:3
Sixteen years old [was] Uzziyyah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Yerushalaim. His mother's name also [was] Yekholyah of Yerushalaim. |
 26:4
And he didºº
[that which was] rightº
in the sightº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
according to allº
thatº
his fatherº
´Ámaxyà
אֲמַציָהº
did.ºº |
|
 26:4
And he did [that which was] right in the sight of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amatzyah did. |
 26:5
And he soughtººº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
in the daysº
of
Zæ¢aryà
זְכַריָה,º
who had understandingºº
in the visionsºº
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:º
and as long asº
he soughtººº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
made him to prosper.ºº |
|
 26:5
And he sought Elohim in the days of Zekharyah, who had understanding in the visions of Elohim: and as long as he sought Yahweh, Elohim made him to prosper. |
 26:6
And he went forthºº
and warredºº
against the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים,º
and brake downººº
the wallº
of
Ga±
גַּת,º
and the wallº
of
Yavnì
יַבנֵה,º
and the wallº
of
´Ašdôð
אַשׁדּוֹד,º
and builtºº
citiesº

´Ašdôð
אַשׁדּוֹד,º
and among the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים.º |
|
 26:6
And he went forth and warred against the Pelishtim, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Yavneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Pelishtim. |
 26:7
And
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
helpedºº
him againstº
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים,º
and againstº
the
`Árävîm
עֲרָבִיםº
that dweltºº
in
Gûr Bä`al
גּוּר־בָּעַל,º
and the
Mæ`ûnîm
מְעוּנִים.º |
|
 26:7
And Elohim helped him against the Pelishtim, and against the Aravim that dwelt in Gur-Baal, and the Meunim. |
 26:8
And the
`Ammönîm
עַמֹּנִיםº
gaveºº
giftsº
to
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּה:º
and his nameº
spread abroadººº
[even] toº
the enteringºº
inº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם;º
forº
he strengthenedºº
[himself] exceedingly.ºº |
|
 26:8
And the Ammonim gave gifts to Uzziyyah: and his name spread abroad [even] to the entering in of Mitzrayim; for he strengthened [himself] exceedingly. |
 26:9
Moreover
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
builtºº
towersº
in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַםº
atº
the cornerº
gate,º
and atº
the valleyº
gate,º
and atº
the turningº
[of the wall], and fortifiedºº
them. |
|
 26:9
Moreover Uzziyyah built towers in Yerushalaim at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning [of the wall], and fortified them. |
 26:10
Also he builtºº
towersº
in the desert,º
and diggedºº
manyº
wells:º
forº
he hadº
muchº
cattle,º
both in the low country,º
and in the plains:º
husbandmenº
[also], and vine dressersº
in the mountains,º
and in
Carmel
כַּרמֶל:º
forº
he lovedººº
husbandry.º |
|
 26:10
Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen [also], and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Karmel: for he loved husbandry. |
 26:11
Moreover
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
hadº
an hostº
of fightingº
men,ººº
that went outºº
to warº
by bands,º
according to the numberº
of their accountº
by the handº
of
Yæ`î´ël
יְעִיאֵלº
the scribeºº
and
Ma`á$ëyà
מַעֲשֵׂיָהº
the ruler,ºº
underº
the handº
of
Çánanyà
חֲנַניָה,º
[one] of the king'sº
captains.ºº |
|
 26:11
Moreover Uzziyyah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Yeiel the scribe and Maaseyah the ruler, under the hand of Chananyah, [one] of the king's captains. |
 26:12
The wholeº
numberº
of the chiefº
of the fathersº
of the mighty menº
of valourº
[were] two thousandº
and sixº
hundred.º |
|
 26:12
The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour [were] two thousand and six hundred. |
 26:13
And underº
their handº
[was] an army,ºº
threeº
hundredº
thousandº
and sevenº
thousandº
and fiveº
hundred,º
that madeºº
warº
with mightyº
power,º
to helpºº
the kingº
againstº
the enemy.ºº |
|
 26:13
And under their hand [was] an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy. |
 26:14
And
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
preparedºº
for them throughout allº
the hostº
shields,º
and spears,º
and helmets,º
and habergeons,º
and bows,º
and slingsº
[to cast] stones.º |
|
 26:14
And Uzziyyah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings [to cast] stones. |
 26:15
And he madeºº
in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַםº
engines,º
inventedº
by cunning men,ºº
to beº
onº
the towersº
and uponº
the bulwarks,º
to shootºº
arrowsº
and greatº
stonesº
withal. And his nameº
spreadºº
far abroad;ººº
forº
he was marvellouslyºº
helped,ºº
tillºº
he was strong.ºº |
|
 26:15
And he made in Yerushalaim engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong. |
 26:16 ¶
But when he was strong,ºº
his heartº
was lifted upºº
toº
[his] destruction:ºº
for he transgressedºº
against
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
his
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,º
and wentºº
intoº
the templeº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
to burn incenseºº
uponº
the altarº
of incense.º |
|
 26:16 ¶
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to [his] destruction: for he transgressed against Yahweh his Elohim, and went into the temple of Yahweh to burn incense upon the altar of incense. |
 26:17
And
`Ázaryà
עֲזַריָהº
the priestº
went inºº
afterº
him, and withº
him fourscoreº
priestsº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
[that were] valiantº
men:ºº |
|
 26:17
And Azaryah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of Yahweh, [that were] valiant men: |
 26:18
And they withstoodººº
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
the king,º
and saidºº
unto him, [It appertaineth] notº
unto thee,
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּה,º
to burn incenseºº
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
butº
to the priestsº
the sonsº
of
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן,º
that are consecratedºº
to burn incense:ºº
go outºº
ofº
the sanctuary;º
forº
thou hast trespassed;ºº
neitherº
[shall it be] for thine honourº
from
Yähwè
יָהוֶהºº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.º |
|
 26:18
And they withstood Uzziyyah the king, and said unto him, [It appertaineth] not unto thee, Uzziyyah, to burn incense unto Yahweh, but to the priests the sons of Aharon, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither [shall it be] for thine honour from Yahweh Elohim. |
 26:19
Then
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
was wroth,ºº
and [had] a censerº
in his handº
to burn incense:ºº
and while he was wrothºº
withº
the priests,º
the leprosyº
even rose upºº
in his foreheadº
beforeº
the priestsº
in the houseº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
from besideºº
the incenseº
altar.º |
|
 26:19
Then Uzziyyah was wroth, and [had] a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of Yahweh, from beside the incense altar. |
 26:20
And
`Ázaryà
עֲזַריָהº
the chiefº
priest,º
and allº
the priests,º
lookedºº
uponº
him, and, behold,º
heº
[was] leprousºº
in his forehead,º
and they thrust him outºº
from thence;ºº
yea, himselfº
hastedºº
alsoº
to go out,ºº
becauseº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
had smittenºº
him. |
|
 26:20
And Azaryah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he [was] leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because Yahweh had smitten him. |
 26:21
And
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
the kingº
wasº
a leperºº
untoº
the dayº
of his death,º
and dweltº
inºº
a severalºº
house,º
[being] a leper;ºº
forº
he was cut offºº
from the houseºº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
and
Yô±äm
יוֹתָםº
his sonº
[was] overº
the king'sº
house,º
judgingººº
the peopleº
of the land.º |
|
 26:21
And Uzziyyah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, [being] a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh: and Yotham his son [was] over the king's house, judging the people of the land. |
 26:22 ¶
Now the restº
of the actsº
of
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּה,º
firstº
and last,º
did
Yæša`yà
יְשַׁעיָהº
the prophet,º
the sonº
of
´Ämôx
אָמוֹץ,º
write.ºº |
|
 26:22 ¶
Now the rest of the acts of Uzziyyah, first and last, did Yeshayah the prophet, the son of Amotz, write. |
 26:23
So
`Uzziyyà
עֻזִּיָּהº
sleptºº
withº
his fathers,º
and they buriedºº
him withº
his fathersº
in the fieldº
of the burialº
whichº
[belonged] to the kings;º
forº
they said,ºº
Heº
[is] a leper:ºº
and
Yô±äm
יוֹתָםº
his sonº
reignedºº
in his stead.º |
|
 26:23
So Uzziyyah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which [belonged] to the kings; for they said, He [is] a leper: and Yotham his son reigned in his stead. |
