 5:1 ¶ Now the sons° of Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן° the firstborn° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° (for° he° [was] the firstborn;° but, forasmuch as he defiled°° his father's° bed,° his birthright° was given°° unto the sons° of Yôsëf יוֹסֵף° the son° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל:° and the genealogy is not to be reckoned°°° after the birthright.°

 5:1 ¶ Now the sons of Reuven the firstborn of Yisrael, (for he [was] the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Yosef the son of Yisrael: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

 5:2 For° Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה° prevailed°° above his brethren,° and of° him [came] the chief ruler;° but the birthright° [was] Yôsëf's יוֹסֵף:)°

 5:3 The sons,° [I say], of Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן° the firstborn° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° [were], Çánöȼ חֲנֹך,° and Pallû´ פַּלּוּא,° Çexrôn חֶצרוֹן,° and Carmî כַּרמִי.°

 5:3 The sons, [I say], of Reuven the firstborn of Yisrael [were], Chanokh, and Pallu, Chetzron, and Karmi.

 5:4 The sons° of Yô´ël יוֹאֵל;° Šæma`yà שְׁמַעיָה° his son,° Gôq גּוֹג° his son,° Šim`î שִׁמעִי° his son,°

 5:4 The sons of Yoel; Shemayah his son, Gog his son, Shimi his son,

 5:5 Mîȼà מִיכָה° his son,° Ræ´äyà רְאָיָה° his son,° Bä`al בָּעַל° his son,°

 5:5 Mikhah his son, Reayah his son, Baal his son,

 5:6 Bæ´ërà בְּאֵרָה° his son,° whom° Tillæqaŧ Pilnæ´eser תִּלְּגַת־פִּלנְאֶסֶר° king° of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר° carried away°° [captive]: he° [was] prince° of the Ræ´ûvënîm רְאוּבֵנִים.°

 5:6 Beerah his son, whom Tillegath-Pilneeser king of Ashshur carried away [captive]: he [was] prince of the Reuvenim.

 5:7 And his brethren° by their families,° when the genealogy°° of their generations° was reckoned,°° [were] the chief,° Yæ`î´ël יְעִיאֵל,° and Zæȼaryà זְכַריָה,°

 5:8 And Bela` בֶּלַע° the son° of `Äzäz עָזָז,° the son° of Šæma` שְׁמַע,° the son° of Yô´ël יוֹאֵל,° who° dwelt°° in `Árö`ër עֲרֹעֵר,° even unto° Nævô נְבוֹ° and Ba`al Mæ`ôn בַּעַל־מְעוֹן:°

 5:8 And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Yoel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nevo and Baal-Meon:

 5:9 And eastward° he inhabited°° unto° the entering°° in° of the wilderness° from° the river° Pæräŧ פְּרָת:° because° their cattle° were multiplied°° in the land° of Gil`äđ גִּלעָד.°

 5:9 And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Perath: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilad.

 5:10 And in the days° of Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° they made°° war° with° the Haqrî´îm הַגרִיאִים,° who fell°° by their hand:° and they dwelt°° in their tents° throughout° all°°° the east° [land] of Gil`äđ גִּלעָד.°

 5:10 And in the days of Shaul they made war with the Hagriim, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east [land] of Gilad.

 5:11 ¶ And the children° of Gäđ גָּד° dwelt°° over against° them, in the land° of Bäšän בָּשָׁן° unto° Salȼà סַלכָה:°

 5:12 Yô´ël יוֹאֵל° the chief,° and Šäfäm שָׁפָם° the next,° and Ya`nay יַענַי,° and Šäfäţ שָׁפָט° in Bäšän בָּשָׁן.°

 5:12 Yoel the chief, and Shafam the next, and Yanay, and Shafat in Bashan.

 5:13 And their brethren° of the house° of their fathers° [were], Mîȼä´ël מִיכָאֵל,° and Mæšulläm מְשֻׁלָּם,° and Šævä´ שְׁבָא,° and Yôray יוֹרַי,° and Ya`cän יַעכָּן,° and Zîå` זִיעַ,° and Çever חֶבֶר,° seven.°

 5:13 And their brethren of the house of their fathers [were], Mikhael, and Meshullam, and Sheva, and Yoray, and Yakan, and Zia, and Chever, seven.

 5:14 These° [are] the children° of ´Ávîçäyil אֲבִיחָיִל° the son° of Çûrî חוּרִי,° the son° of Yärôåç יָרוֹחַ,° the son° of Gil`äđ גִּלעָד,° the son° of Mîȼä´ël מִיכָאֵל,° the son° of Yæšîšay יְשִׁישַׁי,° the son° of Yaçdô יַחדּוֹ,° the son° of Bûz בּוּז;°

 5:14 These [are] the children of Avichayil the son of Churi, the son of Yaroach, the son of Gilad, the son of Mikhael, the son of Yeshishay, the son of Yachdo, the son of Buz;

 5:15 ´Áçî אֲחִי° the son° of `Avdî´ël עַבדִּיאֵל,° the son° of Gûnî גּוּנִי,° chief° of the house° of their fathers.°

 5:15 Achi the son of Avdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.

 5:16 And they dwelt°° in Gil`äđ גִּלעָד° in Bäšän בָּשָׁן,° and in her towns,° and in all° the suburbs° of Šärôn שָׁרוֹן,° upon° their borders.°

 5:16 And they dwelt in Gilad in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.

 5:17 All° these were reckoned by genealogies°° in the days° of Yôŧäm יוֹתָם° king° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה,° and in the days° of Yorov`äm יָרָבעָם° king° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 5:17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Yotham king of Yehudah, and in the days of Yorovam king of Yisrael.

 5:18 ¶ The sons° of Ræ´ûvën רְאוּבֵן,° and the Gäđîm גָּדִים,° and half° the tribe° of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה,° of° valiant men,°° men°° able to bear°° buckler° and sword,° and to shoot°° with bow,° and skilful°° in war,° [were] four° and forty° thousand° seven° hundred° and threescore,° that went out°° to the war.°

 5:18 ¶ The sons of Reuven, and the Gadim, and half the tribe of Menashsheh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, [were] four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.

 5:19 And they made°° war° with° the Haqrî´îm הַגרִיאִים,° with Yæţûr יְטוּר,° and Näfîš נָפִישׁ,° and Nôđäv נוֹדָב.°

 5:19 And they made war with the Hagriim, with Yetur, and Nafish, and Nodav.

 5:20 And they were helped°° against° them, and the Haqrî´îm הַגרִיאִים° were delivered°° into their hand,° and all° that [were] with°° them: for° they cried°° to ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° in the battle,° and he was intreated°° of them; because° they put their trust°° in him.

 5:20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagriim were delivered into their hand, and all that [were] with them: for they cried to Elohim in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

 5:21 And they took away°° their cattle;° of their camels° fifty° thousand,° and of sheep° two hundred° and fifty° thousand,° and of asses° two thousand,° and of men°° an hundred° thousand.°

 5:22 For° there fell°° down° many° slain,° because° the war° [was] of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים.°° And they dwelt°° in their steads° until° the captivity.°

 5:23 ¶ And the children° of the half° tribe° of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה° dwelt°° in the land:° they° increased°° from Bäšän בָּשָׁן°° unto° Ba`al Çermôn בַּעַל־חֶרמוֹן° and Ŝænîr שְׂנִיר,° and unto mount° Çermôn חֶרמוֹן.°

 5:23 ¶ And the children of the half tribe of Menashsheh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baal-Chermon and Senir, and unto mount Chermon.

 5:24 And these° [were] the heads° of the house° of their fathers,° even `Ëfer עֵפֶר,° and Yiš`î יִשׁעִי,° and ´Élî´ël אֱלִיאֵל,° and `Azrî´ël עַזרִיאֵל,° and Yirmæyà יִרמְיָה,° and Hôđawyà הוֹדַויָה,° and Yaçdî´ël יַחדִּיאֵל,° mighty° men°° of valour,° famous° men,°° [and] heads° of the house° of their fathers.°

 5:24 And these [were] the heads of the house of their fathers, even Efer, and Yishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Yirmeyah, and Hodawyah, and Yachdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, [and] heads of the house of their fathers.

 5:25 ¶ And they transgressed°° against the ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° of their fathers,° and went a whoring°° after° the ´élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° of the people° of the land,° whom° ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° destroyed°° before°° them.

 5:25 ¶ And they transgressed against the Elohim of their fathers, and went a whoring after the elohim of the people of the land, whom Elohim destroyed before them.

 5:26 And the ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° stirred up°°° the spirit° of Pûl פּוּל° king° of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר,° and the spirit° of Tillæqaŧ Pilnæ´eser תִּלְּגַת־פִּלנְאֶסֶר° king° of ´Aššûr אַשּׁוּר,° and he carried them away,°° even the Ræ´ûvënîm רְאוּבֵנִים,° and the Gäđîm גָּדִים,° and the half° tribe° of Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה,° and brought°° them unto Çælaç חְלַח,° and Çävôr חָבוֹר,° and Härä´ הָרָא,° and to the river° Gôzän גּוֹזָן,° unto° this° day.°

 5:26 And the Elohim of Yisrael stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Ashshur, and the spirit of Tillegath-Pilneeser king of Ashshur, and he carried them away, even the Reuvenim, and the Gadim, and the half tribe of Menashsheh, and brought them unto Chelach, and Chavor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
