 11:1 ¶ Then all° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° gathered°° themselves° to° Däwiđ דָּוִד° unto Çevrôn חֶברוֹן,° saying,°° Behold,° we° [are] thy bone° and thy flesh.°

 11:1 ¶ Then all Yisrael gathered themselves to Dawid unto Chevron, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh.

 11:2 And moreover° in time° past,°°° even° when Šä´ûl שָׁאוּל° was° king,° thou° [wast] he that leddest out°° and broughtest in°°° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל:° and Yähwè יָהוֶה° thy ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° said°° unto thee, Thou° shalt feed°°° my people°° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° and thou° shalt be° ruler° over° my people°° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 11:2 And moreover in time past, even when Shaul was king, thou [wast] he that leddest out and broughtest in Yisrael: and Yahweh thy Elohim said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Yisrael, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Yisrael.

 11:3 Therefore came°° all° the elders° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° to° the king° to Çevrôn חֶברוֹן;° and Däwiđ דָּוִד° made°° a covenant° with them in Çevrôn חֶברוֹן° before° Yähwè יָהוֶה;° and they anointed°°° Däwiđ דָּוִד° king° over° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° according to the word° of Yähwè יָהוֶה° by° Šæmû´ël שְׁמוּאֵל.°

 11:3 Therefore came all the elders of Yisrael to the king to Chevron; and Dawid made a covenant with them in Chevron before Yahweh; and they anointed Dawid king over Yisrael, according to the word of Yahweh by Shemuel.

 11:4 ¶ And Däwiđ דָּוִד° and all° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° went°°° to Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם,° which° [is] Yævûs יְבוּס;° where° the Yævûsîm יְבוּסִים° [were], the inhabitants°° of the land.°

 11:4 ¶ And Dawid and all Yisrael went to Yerushalaim, which [is] Yevus; where the Yevusim [were], the inhabitants of the land.

 11:5 And the inhabitants°° of Yævûs יְבוּס° said°° to Däwiđ דָּוִד,° Thou shalt not° come°° hither.° Nevertheless Däwiđ דָּוִד° took°°° the castle° of Xiyyôn צִיּוֹן,° which° [is] the city° of Däwiđ דָּוִד.°

 11:5 And the inhabitants of Yevus said to Dawid, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless Dawid took the castle of Tziyyon, which [is] the city of Dawid.

 11:6 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° said,°° Whosoever° smiteth°° the Yævûsîm יְבוּסִים° first° shall be° chief° and captain.° So Yô´äv יוֹאָב° the son° of Xærûyà צְרוּיָה° went°° first° up,°°° and was° chief.°

 11:6 And Dawid said, Whosoever smiteth the Yevusim first shall be chief and captain. So Yoav the son of Tzeruyah went first up, and was chief.

 11:7 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° dwelt°° in the castle;° therefore°° they called°° it the city° of Däwiđ דָּוִד.°

 11:7 And Dawid dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of Dawid.

 11:8 And he built°° the city° round about,°° even from° Millô´ מִלּוֹא° round about:° and Yô´äv יוֹאָב° repaired°°° the rest° of the city.°

 11:8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Yoav repaired the rest of the city.

 11:9 So Däwiđ דָּוִד° waxed°° greater°° and greater:°°° for Yähwè יָהוֶה° Xævä´ôŧ צְבָאוֹת° [was] with° him.

 11:9 So Dawid waxed greater and greater: for Yahweh Tzevaoth [was] with him.

 11:10 ¶ These° also [are] the chief° of the mighty men° whom° Däwiđ דָּוִד° had, who strengthened°° themselves° with° him in his kingdom,° [and] with° all° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° to make him king,°° according to the word° of Yähwè יָהוֶה° concerning° Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 11:10 ¶ These also [are] the chief of the mighty men whom Dawid had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, [and] with all Yisrael, to make him king, according to the word of Yahweh concerning Yisrael.

 11:11 And this° [is] the number° of the mighty men° whom° Däwiđ דָּוִד° had; Yäšov`äm יָשָׁבעָם,° a Çaȼmônî חַכמוֹנִי,°° the chief° of the captains:°°° he° lifted up°°° his spear° against° three° hundred° slain° [by him] at one° time.°

 11:11 And this [is] the number of the mighty men whom Dawid had; Yashovam, a Chakhmoni, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain [by him] at one time.

 11:12 And after° him [was] ´El`äzär אֶלעָזָר° the son° of Dôđô דּוֹדוֹ,° the ´Áçôçî אֲחוֹחִי,° who° [was one] of the three° mighties.°

 11:12 And after him [was] Elazar the son of Dodo, the Achochi, who [was one] of the three mighties.

 11:13 He° was° with° Däwiđ דָּוִד° at Pas Dammîm פַּס־דַּמִּים,° and there° the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים° were gathered together°° to battle,° where was° a parcel° of ground° full° of barley;° and the people° fled°° from before°° the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים.°

 11:13 He was with Dawid at Pas-Dammim, and there the Pelishtim were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Pelishtim.

 11:14 And they set°° themselves° in the midst° of [that] parcel,° and delivered°° it, and slew°°° the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים;° and Yähwè יָהוֶה° saved°° [them] by a great° deliverance.°

 11:14 And they set themselves in the midst of [that] parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Pelishtim; and Yahweh saved [them] by a great deliverance.

 11:15 ¶ Now three° of° the thirty° captains° went down°° to° the rock° to° Däwiđ דָּוִד,° into° the cave° of `Áđulläm עֲדֻלָּם;° and the host° of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים° encamped°° in the valley° of Ræfä´îm רְפָאִים.°

 11:15 ¶ Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to Dawid, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Pelishtim encamped in the valley of Refaim.

 11:16 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° [was] then° in the hold,° and the Pælištîm's פְּלִשׁתִּים° garrison° [was] then° at Bêŧ Läçem בֵּית־לָחֶם.°

 11:16 And Dawid [was] then in the hold, and the Pelishtim's garrison [was] then at Beth-Lachem.

 11:17 And Däwiđ דָּוִד° longed,°° and said,°° Oh that° one would give me drink°° of the water° of the well°° of Bêŧ Läçem בֵּית־לָחֶם,° that° [is] at the gate!°

 11:17 And Dawid longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-Lachem, that [is] at the gate!

 11:18 And the three° brake through°° the host° of the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים,° and drew°° water° out of the well°° of Bêŧ Läçem בֵּית־לָחֶם,° that° [was] by the gate,° and took°° [it], and brought°° [it] to° Däwiđ דָּוִד:° but Däwiđ דָּוִד° would°° not° drink°° [of] it, but poured it out°°° to Yähwè יָהוֶה,°

 11:18 And the three brake through the host of the Pelishtim, and drew water out of the well of Beth-Lachem, that [was] by the gate, and took [it], and brought [it] to Dawid: but Dawid would not drink [of] it, but poured it out to Yahweh,

 11:19 And said,°° My ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים°° forbid° it° me, that I should do°°° this thing:° shall I drink°° the blood° of these° men°° that have put their lives° in jeopardy?° for° with [the jeopardy of] their lives° they brought°° it. Therefore he would°° not° drink°° it. These things° did°° these three° mightiest.°

 11:19 And said, My Elohim forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

 11:20 ¶ And ´Ávîšay אֲבִישַׁי° the brother° of Yô´äv יוֹאָב,° he° was° chief° of the three:° for lifting up°°° his spear° against° three° hundred,° he° slew° [them], and had a name° among the three.°

 11:20 ¶ And Avishay the brother of Yoav, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew [them], and had a name among the three.

 11:21 Of° the three,° he was more honourable°° than the two;° for he was° their captain:° howbeit he attained°° not° to° the [first] three.°

 11:21 Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the [first] three.

 11:22 Bænäyà בְּנָיָה° the son° of Yæhôyäđä` יְהוֹיָדָע,°° the son° of a valiant° man° of° Kavxæ´ël קַבצְאֵל,° who had done many° acts;° he° slew°°° two° lionlike men° of Mô´äv מוֹאָב:° also he° went down°° and slew°°° a lion° in° a pit° in a snowy° day.°

 11:22 Benayah the son of Yehoyada, the son of a valiant man of Qavtzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moav: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.

 11:23 And he° slew°°° a Mixrî מִצרִי,°° a man° of [great] stature,° five° cubits° high; and in the Mixrî's מִצרִי° hand° [was] a spear° like a weaver's°° beam;° and he went down°° to° him with a staff,° and plucked°°° the spear° out of the Mixrî's מִצרִי° hand,°°° and slew°° him with his own spear.°

 11:23 And he slew a Mitzri, a man of [great] stature, five cubits high; and in the Mitzri's hand [was] a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Mitzri's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

 11:24 These° [things] did°° Bænäyà בְּנָיָה° the son° of Yæhôyäđä` יְהוֹיָדָע,°° and had the name° among the three° mighties.°

 11:24 These [things] did Benayah the son of Yehoyada, and had the name among the three mighties.

 11:25 Behold,° he° was honourable°° among° the thirty,° but attained°° not° to° the [first] three:° and Däwiđ דָּוִד° set°° him over° his guard.°

 11:25 Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the [first] three: and Dawid set him over his guard.

 11:26 ¶ Also the valiant men° of the armies° [were], `Áŝà ´Ël עֲשָׂה־אֵל° the brother° of Yô´äv יוֹאָב,° ´Elçänän אֶלחָנָן° the son° of Dôđô דּוֹדוֹ° of Bêŧ Läçem בֵּית־לָחֶם,°°

 11:26 ¶ Also the valiant men of the armies [were], Asah-El the brother of Yoav, Elchanan the son of Dodo of Beth-Lachem,

 11:27 Šammôŧ שַׁמּוֹת° the Hárôrî הֲרוֹרִי,° Çelex חֶלֶץ° the Pælônî פְּלוֹנִי,°

 11:27 Shammoth the Harori, Cheletz the Peloni,

 11:28 `Îrä´ עִירָא° the son° of `Ikkëš עִקֵּשׁ° the Tækô`î תְּקוֹעִי,° ´Ávî`ezer אֲבִיעֶזֶר° the `Ánnæŧôŧî עֲנְּתוֹתִי,°

 11:28 Ira the son of Iqqesh the Teqoi, Aviezer the Annethothi,

 11:29 Sibbæȼay סִבְּכַי° the Çušäŧî חֻשָׁתִי,° `Îlay עִילַי° the ´Áçôçî אֲחוֹחִי,°

 11:29 Sibbekhay the Chushathi, Ilay the Achochi,

 11:30 Mahray מַהרַי° the Næţôfäŧî נְטוֹפָתִי,° Çëleđ חֵלֶד° the son° of Ba`ánà בַּעֲנָה° the Næţôfäŧî נְטוֹפָתִי,°

 11:30 Mahray the Netofathi, Cheled the son of Baanah the Netofathi,

 11:32 Çûray חוּרַי° of the brooks°° of Gä`aš גָּעַשׁ,° ´Ávî´ël אֲבִיאֵל° the `Arväŧî עַרבָתִי,°

 11:32 Churay of the brooks of Gaash, Aviel the Arvathi,

 11:33 `Azmäweŧ עַזמָוֶת° the Baçárûmî בַּחֲרוּמִי,° ´Elyaçbä´ אֶליַחבָּא° the Ša`alvönî שַׁעַלבֹנִי,°
