Now it came to pass after this, that Nachash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead. |

And

I will shew°°
kindness°
unto°
Çänûn
חָנוּן°
the son°
of
Näçäš
נָחָשׁ,°
because°
his father°
shewed°°
kindness°
to°
me. And
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
sent°°
messengers°
to comfort°°
him concerning°
his father.°
So the servants°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
came°°
into°
the land°
of the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
to°
Çänûn
חָנוּן,°
to comfort°°
him. |

And Dawid said, I will shew kindness unto Chanun the son of Nachash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And Dawid sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of Dawid came into the land of the children of Ammon to Chanun, to comfort him. |

But the princes°
of the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°

חָנוּן,°
Thinkest°
thou that
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
doth honour°°°
thy father,°
that°
he hath sent°°
comforters°°
unto thee? are not°
his servants°
come°°
unto°
thee for°
to search,°°
and to overthrow,°°
and to spy out°°
the land?° |

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Chanun, Thinkest thou that Dawid doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land? |

19:4
Wherefore

servants,°
and shaved°°
them, and cut off°°°
their garments°
in the midst°
hard by°
their buttocks,°
and sent them away.°° |

Wherefore Chanun took Dawid's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away. |

Then there went°°°
[certain], and told°°

the men°°
were served. And he sent°°
to meet°°
them: for°
the men°°
were°
greatly°
ashamed.°°
And the king°
said,°°
Tarry°°
at

יְרִיחוֹ°

your beards°
be grown,°°
and [then] return.°° |

Then there went [certain], and told Dawid how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Yericho until your beards be grown, and [then] return. |

And when the children°

`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
saw°°
that°
they had made themselves odious°°
to°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
Çänûn
חָנוּן°
and the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
sent°°
a thousand°
talents°
of silver°
to hire°°
them chariots°
and horsemen°
out of°
´Áram Nahárayim
אֲרַם־נַהֲרַיִם,°
and out of°
´Áram Ma`áȼà
אֲרַם־מַעֲכָה,°°
and out of
Xôvà
צוֹבָה.°° |

19:6 ¶
And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to Dawid, Chanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Aram-Naharayim, and out of Aram-Maakhah, and out of Tzovah. |

So they hired°°
thirty°
and two°
thousand°
chariots,°
and the king°
of
Ma`áȼà
מַעֲכָה°
and his people;°
who came°°
and pitched°°
before°
Mêđvä´
מֵידבָא.°
And the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
gathered themselves together°°
from their cities,°°
and came°°
to battle.° |

So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maakhah and his people; who came and pitched before Medva. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle. |

19:8
And when

the host°
of the mighty men.° |

And when Dawid heard [of it], he sent Yoav, and all the host of the mighty men. |

came out,°°
and put the battle°
in array°°°
before the gate°
of the city:°
and the kings°
that°
were come°°
[were] by themselves°
in the field.° |

And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come [were] by themselves in the field. |

19:10
Now when

was set°
against°
him before°
and behind,°
he chose°
out°°
of all°°
the choice°°

Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and put [them] in array°°

Now when Yoav saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Yisrael, and put [them] in array against the Arammim. |

19:11
And the rest°
of the people°
he delivered°°
unto the hand°
of
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
his brother,°
and they set [themselves] in array°°
against°°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן.° |

And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Avishay his brother, and they set [themselves] in array against the children of Ammon. |
|
19:12
And he said,°°
If°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
be too strong°°
for°
me, then thou shalt help°°
me: but if°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
be too strong°°
for°
thee, then I will help°°
thee. |

19:12
And he said, If the Arammim be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee. |
|
19:13
Be of good courage,°°
and let us behave ourselves valiantly°°
for°
our people,°
and for°
the cities°
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
and let
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
do°°
[that which is] good°
in his sight.° |
|
19:13
Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our Elohim: and let Yahweh do [that which is] good in his sight. |
|
19:14

him drew nigh°°
before°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
unto the battle;°
and they fled°°
before°°
him. |

So Yoav and the people that [were] with him drew nigh before the Arammim unto the battle; and they fled before him. |

19:15
And when the children°

`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
saw°°
that°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
were fled,°°
they°
likewise°
fled°°
before°°
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
his brother,°
and entered°°
into the city.°
Then

came°°

Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

And when the children of Ammon saw that the Arammim were fled, they likewise fled before Avishay his brother, and entered into the city. Then Yoav came to Yerushalaim. |

19:16 ¶
And when the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
saw°°
that°
they were put to the worse°°
before°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
they sent°°
messengers,°
and drew forth°°°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
that°
[were] beyond°°
the river:°
and
Šôfaȼ
שׁוֹפַך°
the captain°
of the host°
of
Háđađ`ezer
הֲדַדעֶזֶר°
[went] before°
them. |

19:16 ¶
And when the Arammim saw that they were put to the worse before Yisrael, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Arammim that [were] beyond the river: and Shofakh the captain of the host of Hadadezer [went] before them. |

19:17
And it was told°°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד;°
and he gathered°°°
all°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and passed over°°
Yardën
יַרדֵּן,°
and came°°
upon°
them, and set [the battle] in array°°°
against°
them. So when
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
had put the battle°
in array°°
against°°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים,°
they fought°°
with°
him. |

19:17
And it was told Dawid; and he gathered all Yisrael, and passed over Yarden, and came upon them, and set [the battle] in array against them. So when Dawid had put the battle in array against the Arammim, they fought with him. |

19:18
But the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
fled°°
before°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;°
and
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
slew°°
of the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°°
seven°
thousand°
[men which fought in] chariots,°
and forty°
thousand°
footmen,°°
and killed°°
Šôfaȼ
שׁוֹפַך°
the captain°
of the host.° |

But the Arammim fled before Yisrael; and Dawid slew of the Arammim seven thousand [men which fought in] chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shofakh the captain of the host. |

19:19
And when the servants°
of
Háđađ`ezer
הֲדַדעֶזֶר°
saw°°
that°
they were put to the worse°°
before°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
they made peace°°
with°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
and became his servants:°°
neither°
would°°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
help°°°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
any more.° |

19:19
And when the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were put to the worse before Yisrael, they made peace with Dawid, and became his servants: neither would the Arammim help the children of Ammon any more. |
