2 Chronicles 29

1 Hezekiah his good reign. 3 He restoreth religion. 5 He exhorteth the Levites. 12 They sanctify themselves, and cleanse the house of God. 20 Hezekiah offereth solemn sacrifices, wherein the Levites were more forward than the priests.

 29:1 Hezekiah 2396 became 4427a king 4427a [when he was] twenty-five 6242 2568 years 8141 old 1121; and he reigned 4427a twenty-nine 6242 8672 years 8141 in Jerusalem 3389. And his mother’s 517 name 8034 [was] Abijah 29, the daughter 1323 of Zechariah 2148a.

 29:2 He did 6213a right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068, according to all 3605 that his father 1 David 1732 had done 6213a.

 29:3 ¶ In the first 7223 year 8141 of his reign 4427a, in the first 7223 month 2320, he opened 6605a the doors 1817 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 and repaired 2388 them.

 29:4 He brought 935 in the priests 3548 and the Levites 3881 and gathered 622 them into the square 7339 on the east 4217.

 29:5 Then he said 559 to them, “Listen 8085 to me, O Levites 3881. Consecrate 6942 yourselves now 6258, and consecrate 6942 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, the God 430 of your fathers 1, and carry 3318 the uncleanness 5079 out from the holy 6944 place.

 29:6 “For our fathers 1 have been 4603 unfaithful 4603 and have done 6213a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068 our God 430, and have forsaken 5800a Him and turned 5437 their faces 6440 away 5437 from the dwelling 4908 place 4908 of the LORD 3068, and have turned 5414 [their] backs 6203.

 29:7 “They have also 1571 shut 5462 the doors 1817 of the porch 197 and put 3518 out the lamps 5216, and have not burned 6999 incense 7004 or offered 5927 burnt 5930a offerings 5930a in the holy 6944 place to the God 430 of Israel 3478.

 29:8 “Therefore the wrath 7110a of the LORD 3068 was against 5921 Judah 3063 and Jerusalem 3389, and He has made 5414 them an object 2113 of terror 2113, of horror 8047, and of hissing 8322, as you see 7200 with your own eyes 5869.

 29:9 “For behold 2009, our fathers 1 have fallen 5307 by the sword 2719, and our sons 1121 and our daughters 1323 and our wives 802 are in captivity 7628b for this 2088.

 29:10 “Now 6258 it is in my heart 3824 to make 3772 a covenant 1285 with the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel 3478, that His burning 2740 anger 639 may turn 7725 away 7725 from us.

 29:11 “My sons 1121, do not be negligent 7951 now 6258, for the LORD 3068 has chosen 977 you to stand 5975 before 6440 Him, to minister 8334 to Him, and to be His ministers 8334 and burn 6999 incense 6999.”

 29:12 ¶ Then the Levites 3881 arose 6965: Mahath 4287, the son 1121 of Amasai 6022 and Joel 3100 the son 1121 of Azariah 5838, from the sons 1121 of the Kohathites 6956; and from the sons 1121 of Merari 4847, Kish 7027 the son 1121 of Abdi 5660 and Azariah 5838 the son 1121 of Jehallelel 3094; and from the Gershonites 1649, Joah 3098 the son 1121 of Zimmah 2155 and Eden 5730b the son 1121 of Joah 3098;

 29:13 and from the sons 1121 of Elizaphan 469, Shimri 8113 and Jeiel 3262; and from the sons 1121 of Asaph 623, Zechariah 2148a and Mattaniah 4983;

 29:14 and from the sons 1121 of Heman 1968, Jehiel 3171 and Shimei 8096; and from the sons 1121 of Jeduthun 3038, Shemaiah 8098 and Uzziel 5816.

 29:15 They assembled 622 their brothers 251, consecrated 6942 themselves, and went 935 in to cleanse 2891 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, according to the commandment 4687 of the king 4428 by the words 1697 of the LORD 3068.

 29:16 So the priests 3548 went 935 in to the inner 6441 part 6441 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 to cleanse 2891 [it], and every 3605 unclean 2932a thing 2932a which 834 they found 4672 in the temple 1964 of the LORD 3068 they brought 3318 out to the court 2691a of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068. Then the Levites 3881 received 6901 [it] to carry 3318 out to the Kidron 6939 valley 5158a.

 29:17 Now they began 2490c the consecration 6942 on the first 259 [day] of the first 7223 month 2320, and on the eighth 8083 day 3117 of the month 2320 they entered 935 the porch 197 of the LORD 3068. Then they consecrated 6942 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 in eight 8083 days 3117, and finished 3615 on the sixteenth 8337a 6240 day 3117 of the first 7223 month 2320.

 29:18 Then they went 935 in to King 4428 Hezekiah 2396 and said 559, “We have cleansed 2891 the whole 3605 house 1004 of the LORD 3068, the altar 4196 of burnt 5930a offering 5930a with all 3605 of its utensils 3627, and the table 7979 of showbread 4635 with all 3605 of its utensils 3627.

 29:19 “Moreover, all 3605 the utensils 3627 which 834 King 4428 Ahaz 271 had discarded 2186a during his reign 4438 in his unfaithfulness 4604, we have prepared 3559 and consecrated 6942; and behold 2009, they are before 6440 the altar 4196 of the LORD 3068.”

 29:20 ¶ Then King 4428 Hezekiah 2396 arose 7925 early 7925 and assembled 622 the princes 8269 of the city 5892b and went 5927 up to the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.

 29:21 They brought 935 seven 7651 bulls 6499, seven 7651 rams 352a, seven 7651 lambs 3532 and seven 7651 male 6842 goats 5795 for a sin 2403b offering 2403b for the kingdom 4467, the sanctuary 4720, and Judah 3063. And he ordered 559 the priests 3548, the sons 1121 of Aaron 175, to offer 5927 [them] on the altar 4196 of the LORD 3068.

 29:22 So they slaughtered 7819 the bulls 1241, and the priests 3548 took 6901 the blood 1818 and sprinkled 2236b it on the altar 4196. They also slaughtered 7819 the rams 352a and sprinkled 2236b the blood 1818 on the altar 4196; they slaughtered 7819 the lambs 3532 also and sprinkled 2236b the blood 1818 on the altar 4196.

 29:23 Then they brought 5066 the male 8163b goats 8163b of the sin 2403b offering 2403b before 6440 the king 4428 and the assembly 6951, and they laid 5564 their hands 3027 on them.

 29:24 The priests 3548 slaughtered 7819 them and purged 2398 the altar 4196 with their blood 1818 to atone 3722a for all 3605 Israel 3478, for the king 4428 ordered 559 the burnt 5930a offering 5930a and the sin 2403b offering 2403b for all 3605 Israel 3478.

 29:25 ¶ He then stationed 5975 the Levites 3881 in the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 with cymbals 4700, with harps 5035b and with lyres 3658, according to the command 4687 of David 1732 and of Gad 1410 the king’s 4428 seer 2374, and of Nathan 5416 the prophet 5030; for the command 4687 was from the LORD 3068 through 3027 His prophets 5030.

 29:26 The Levites 3881 stood 5975 with the [musical] instruments 3627 of David 1732, and the priests 3548 with the trumpets 2689.

 29:27 Then Hezekiah 2396 gave 559 the order 559 to offer 5927 the burnt 5930a offering 5930a on the altar 4196. When 6256 the burnt 5930a offering 5930a began 2490c, the song 7892a to the LORD 3068 also began 2490c with the trumpets 2689, [accompanied] by the instruments 3627 of David 1732, king 4428 of Israel 3478.

 29:28 While the whole 3605 assembly 6951 worshiped 7812, the singers 7892a also sang 7891 and the trumpets 2689 sounded 2690; all 3605 this [continued] until 5704 the burnt 5930a offering 5930a was finished 3615.

 29:29 ¶ Now at the completion 3615 of the burnt 5927 offerings 5927, the king 4428 and all 3605 who were present 4672 with him bowed 3766 down 3766 and worshiped 7812.

 29:30 Moreover, King 4428 Hezekiah 2396 and the officials 8269 ordered 559 the Levites 3881 to sing 1984b praises 1984b to the LORD 3068 with the words 1697 of David 1732 and Asaph 623 the seer 2374. So they sang 1984b praises 1984b with joy 8057, and bowed 6915 down 6915 and worshiped 7812.

 29:31 ¶ Then Hezekiah 2396 said 559, “Now 6258 [that] you have consecrated 4390 3027 yourselves 3027 to the LORD 3068, come 5066 near 5066 and bring 935 sacrifices 2077 and thank 8426 offerings 8426 to the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.” And the assembly 6951 brought 935 sacrifices 2077 and thank 8426 offerings 8426, and all 3605 those who were willing 5081 [brought] burnt 5930a offerings 5930a.

 29:32 The number 4557 of the burnt 5930a offerings 5930a which 834 the assembly 6951 brought 935 was 70 7657 bulls 1241, 100 3967 rams 352a, and 200 3967 lambs 3532; all 3605 these 428 were for a burnt 5930a offering 5930a to the LORD 3068.

 29:33 The consecrated 6944 things 6944 were 600 8337a 3967 bulls 1241 and 3,000 7969 505 sheep 6629.

 29:34 But the priests 3548 were too few 4592, so that they were unable 3808 3201 to skin 6584 all 3605 the burnt 5930a offerings 5930a; therefore their brothers 251 the Levites 3881 helped 2388 them until 5704 the work 4399 was completed 3615 and until 5704 the [other] priests 3548 had consecrated 6942 themselves. For the Levites 3881 were more 4480 conscientious 3477 3824 to consecrate 6942 themselves than 4480 the priests 3548.

 29:35 There [were] also 1571 many 7230 burnt 5930a offerings 5930a with the fat 2459 of the peace 8002 offerings 8002 and with the libations 5262a for the burnt 5930a offerings 5930a. Thus the service 5656 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 was established 3559 [again].

 29:36 Then Hezekiah 2396 and all 3605 the people 5971a rejoiced 8055 over 5921 what God 430 had prepared 3559 for the people 5971a, because 3588 the thing 1697 came 1961 about suddenly 6597.
