2 Chronicles 26

1 Uzziah succeeding, and reigning well in the days of Zechariah, prospereth. 16 Waxing proud, he invadeth the priest's office, and is smitten with leprosy. 22 He dieth, and Jotham succeeds him.

 26:1 And all 3605 the people 5971a of Judah 3063 took 3947 Uzziah 5818, who 1931 [was] sixteen 8337a 6240 years 8141 old 1121, and made 4427a him king 4427a in the place 8478 of his father 1 Amaziah 558.

 26:2 He built 1129 Eloth 359 and restored 7725 it to Judah 3063 after 310 the king 4428 slept 7901 with his fathers 1.

 26:3 Uzziah 5818 was sixteen 8337a 6240 years 8141 old 1121 when he became 4427a king 4427a, and he reigned 4427a fifty-two 2572 years 8141 in Jerusalem 3389; and his mother’s 517 name 8034 was Jechiliah 3203 of Jerusalem 3389.

 26:4 He did 6213a right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068 according to all 3605 that his father 1 Amaziah 558 had done 6213a.

 26:5 He continued 1961 to seek 1245 God 430 in the days 3117 of Zechariah 2148a, who had understanding 995 through the vision 7200 of God 430; and as long 3117 as he sought 1875 the LORD 3068, God 430 prospered 6743b him.

 26:6 ¶ Now he went 3318 out and warred 3898a against the Philistines 6430, and broke 6555 down 6555 the wall 2346 of Gath 1661 and the wall 2346 of Jabneh 2996 and the wall 2346 of Ashdod 795; and he built 1129 cities 5892b in [the area of] Ashdod 795 and among the Philistines 6430.

 26:7 God 430 helped 5826 him against 5921 the Philistines 6430, and against 5921 the Arabians 6163a who lived 3427 in Gur-baal 1485, and the Meunites 4586.

 26:8 The Ammonites 5984 also gave 5414 tribute 4503 to Uzziah 5818, and his fame 8034 extended 1980 to the border 935 of Egypt 4714, for he became 2388 very 4605 strong 2388.

 26:9 Moreover, Uzziah 5818 built 1129 towers 4026 in Jerusalem 3389 at the Corner 6438 Gate 8179 and at the Valley 1516 Gate 8179 and at the corner 4740 buttress 4740 and fortified 2388 them.

 26:10 He built 1129 towers 4026 in the wilderness 4057b and hewed 2672 many 7227a cisterns 953a, for he had 1961 much 7227a livestock 4735, both in the lowland 8219 and in the plain 4334. [He also had] plowmen 406 and vinedressers 3755 in the hill 2022 country 2022 and the fertile 3759 fields 3759, for he loved 157 the soil 127.

 26:11 Moreover, Uzziah 5818 had 1961 an army 2428 ready 6213a for battle 4421, which entered 3318 combat 6635 by divisions 1416 according to the number 4557 of their muster 6486, prepared 3027 by Jeiel 3262 the scribe 5613b and Maaseiah 4641 the official 7860, under 5921 the direction 3027 of Hananiah 2608a, one of the king’s 4428 officers 8269.

 26:12 The total 3605 number 4557 of the heads 7218 of the households 1, of valiant 2428 warriors 1368, was 2,600 505 8337a 3967.

 26:13 Under 5921 their direction 3027 was an elite 2428 army 2428 of 307,500 7969 3967 505 7651 505 2568 3967, who could wage 6213a war 4421 with great 2428 power 3581b, to help 5826 the king 4428 against 5921 the enemy 340.

 26:14 Moreover, Uzziah 5818 prepared 3559 for all 3605 the army 6635 shields 4043, spears 7420, helmets 3553, body 8302 armor 8302, bows 7198 and sling 7050a stones 68.

 26:15 In Jerusalem 3389 he made 6213a engines 2810 [of war] invented 4284 by skillful 2803 men to be on the towers 4026 and on the corners 6438 for the purpose of shooting 3372b arrows 2671 and great 1419 stones 68. Hence his fame 8034 spread 3318 afar 5704 7350, for he was marvelously 6381 helped 5826 until 5704 3588 he [was] strong 2388.

 26:16 ¶ But when he became 2388 strong 2393, his heart 3820 was so proud 1361b that he acted 7843 corruptly 7843, and he was unfaithful 4603 to the LORD 3068 his God 430, for he entered 935 the temple 1964 of the LORD 3068 to burn 6999 incense 6999 on the altar 4196 of incense 7004.

 26:17 Then Azariah 5838 the priest 3548 entered 935 after 310 him and with him eighty 8084 priests 3548 of the LORD 3068, valiant 2428 men 1121.

 26:18 They opposed 5975 Uzziah 5818 the king 4428 and said 559 to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah 5818, to burn 6999 incense 6999 to the LORD 3068, but for the priests 3548, the sons 1121 of Aaron 175 who are consecrated 6942 to burn 6999 incense 6999. Get 3318 out of the sanctuary 4720, for you have been 4603 unfaithful 4603 and will have no 3808 honor 3519b from the LORD 3068 God 430.”

 26:19 But Uzziah 5818, with a censer 4730 in his hand 3027 for burning 6999 incense 6999, was enraged 2196; and while he was enraged 2196 with the priests 3548, the leprosy 6883 broke 2224 out on his forehead 4696 before 6440 the priests 3548 in the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, beside 4480 5921 the altar 4196 of incense 7004.

 26:20 Azariah 5838 the chief 7218 priest 3548 and all 3605 the priests 3548 looked 6437 at him, and behold 2009, he [was] leprous 6879 on his forehead 4696; and they hurried 926 him out of there 8033, and he himself 1931 also 1571 hastened 1765 to get 3318 out because 3588 the LORD 3068 had smitten 5060 him.

 26:21 King 4428 Uzziah 5818 was a leper 6879 to the day 3117 of his death 4194; and he lived 3427 in a separate 2669 house 1004, being 6879 a leper 6879, for he was cut 1504 off 1504 from the house 1004 of the LORD 3068. And Jotham 3147 his son 1121 [was] over 5921 the king’s 4428 house 1004 judging 8199 the people 5971a of the land 776.

 26:22 ¶ Now the rest 3499a of the acts 1697 of Uzziah 5818, first 7223 to last 314, the prophet 5030 Isaiah 3470b, the son 1121 of Amoz 531, has written 3789.

 26:23 So Uzziah 5818 slept 7901 with his fathers 1, and they buried 6912 him with his fathers 1 in the field 7704 of the grave 6900 which 834 belonged to the kings 4428, for they said 559, “He is a leper 6879.” And Jotham 3147 his son 1121 became 4427a king 4427a in his place 8478.
