2 Chronicles 17

1 Jehoshaphat, succeeding Asa, reigneth well, and prospereth. 7 He sendeth Levites with the princes to teach Judah. 10 His enemies being terrified by God, some of them bring him presents and tribute. 12 His greatness, captains, and armies.

 17:1 Jehoshaphat 3092 his son 1121 then became 4427a king 4427a in his place 8478, and made 2388 his position over 5921 Israel 3478 firm 2388.

 17:2 He placed 5414 troops 2428 in all 3605 the fortified 1219 cities 5892b of Judah 3063, and set 5414 garrisons 5333 in the land 776 of Judah 3063 and in the cities 5892b of Ephraim 669 which 834 Asa 609 his father 1 had captured 3920.

 17:3 The LORD 3068 was with Jehoshaphat 3092 because 3588 he followed 1980 the example 1870 of his father 1 David’s 1732 earlier 7223 days and did not seek 1875 the Baals 1168a,

 17:4 but sought 1875 the God 430 of his father 1, followed 1980 His commandments 4687, and did not act 4639 as Israel 3478 did 4639.

 17:5 So the LORD 3068 established 3559 the kingdom 4467 in his control 3027, and all 3605 Judah 3063 brought 5414 tribute 4503 to Jehoshaphat 3092, and he had 1961 great 7230 riches 6239 and honor 3519b.

 17:6 He took 1361b great 1361b pride 1361b 3820 in the ways 1870 of the LORD 3068 and again 5750 removed 5493 the high 1116 places 1116 and the Asherim 842 from Judah 3063.

 17:7 ¶ Then in the third 7969 year 8141 of his reign 4427a he sent 7971 his officials 8269, Ben-hail 1134, Obadiah 5662, Zechariah 2148a, Nethanel 5417 and Micaiah 4322, to teach 3925 in the cities 5892b of Judah 3063;

 17:8 and with them the Levites 3881, Shemaiah 8098, Nethaniah 5418, Zebadiah 2069, Asahel 6214, Shemiramoth 8070, Jehonathan 3083, Adonijah 138, Tobijah 2900 and Tobadonijah 2899a, the Levites 3881; and with them Elishama 476 and Jehoram 3088, the priests 3548.

 17:9 They taught 3925 in Judah 3063, [having] the book 5612 of the law 8451 of the LORD 3068 with them; and they went 5437 throughout 5437 all 3605 the cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and taught 3925 among the people 5971a.

 17:10 ¶ Now the dread 6343 of the LORD 3068 was on all 3605 the kingdoms 4467 of the lands 776 which 834 [were] around 5439 Judah 3063, so that they did not make 3898a war 3898a against 5973 Jehoshaphat 3092.

 17:11 Some 4480 of the Philistines 6430 brought 935 gifts 4503 and silver 3701 as tribute 4853 to Jehoshaphat 3092; the Arabians 6163a also 1571 brought 935 him flocks 6629, 7,700 7651 505 7651 3967 rams 352a and 7,700 7651 505 7651 3967 male 8495 goats 8495.

 17:12 So Jehoshaphat 3092 grew 1980 greater 4605 and greater 1432, and he built 1129 fortresses 1003a and store 4543 cities 5892b in Judah 3063.

 17:13 He had 1961 large 7227a supplies 4399 in the cities 5892b of Judah 3063, and warriors 4421, valiant 2428 1368 men 1368, in Jerusalem 3389.

 17:14 This 428 was their muster 6486 according to their fathers’ 1 households 1004: of Judah 3063, commanders 8269 of thousands 505, Adnah 5734a [was] the commander 8269, and with him 300,000 7969 3967 505 valiant 2428 warriors 1368;

 17:15 and next 5921 3027 to him [was] Johanan 3076 the commander 8269, and with him 280,000 3967 8084 505;

 17:16 and next 5921 3027 to him Amasiah 6007 the son 1121 of Zichri 2147, who volunteered 5068 for the LORD 3068, and with him 200,000 3967 505 valiant 2428 warriors 1368;

 17:17 and of Benjamin 1144, Eliada 450 a valiant 2428 warrior 1368, and with him 200,000 3967 505 armed 5401b with bow 7198 and shield 4043;

 17:18 and next 5921 3027 to him Jehozabad 3075, and with him 180,000 3967 8084 505 equipped 2502b for war 6635.

 17:19 These 428 are they who served 8334 the king 4428, apart 905 from those whom 834 the king 4428 put 5414 in the fortified 4013 cities 5892b through all 3605 Judah 3063.
