2 Chronicles 12

1 Rehoboam, forsaking the LORD, is punished by Shishak. 5 He and the princes, repenting at the preaching of Shemaiah, are delivered from destruction, but not from spoil. 13 The reign and death of Rehoboam.

 12:1 When the kingdom 4438 of Rehoboam 7346 was established 3559 and strong 2393, he and all 3605 Israel 3478 with him forsook 5800a the law 8451 of the LORD 3068.

 12:2 And it came 1961 about in King 4428 Rehoboam’s 7346 fifth 2549 year 8141, because 3588 they had been 4603 unfaithful 4603 to the LORD 3068, that Shishak 7895 king 4428 of Egypt 4714 came 5927 up against 5921 Jerusalem 3389

 12:3 with 1,200 505 3967 chariots 7393 and 60,000 8346 505 horsemen 6571b. And the people 5971a who 834 came 935 with him from Egypt 4714 were without 369 number 4557: the Lubim 3864, the Sukkiim 5525 and the Ethiopians 3569.

 12:4 He captured 3920 the fortified 4694 cities 5892b of Judah 3063 and came 935 as far 5704 as Jerusalem 3389.

 12:5 Then Shemaiah 8098 the prophet 5030 came 935 to Rehoboam 7346 and the princes 8269 of Judah 3063 who 834 had gathered 622 at Jerusalem 3389 because 4480 6440 of Shishak 7895, and he said 559 to them, “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘You have forsaken 5800a Me, so I also 637 have forsaken 5800a you to Shishak 7895.’”

 12:6 So the princes 8269 of Israel 3478 and the king 4428 humbled 3665 themselves and said 559, “The LORD 3068 is righteous 6662.”

 12:7 ¶ When the LORD 3068 saw 7200 that they humbled 3665 themselves, the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Shemaiah 8098, saying 559, “They have humbled 3665 themselves [so] I will not destroy 7843 them, but I will grant 5414 them some 4592 [measure] of deliverance 6413, and My wrath 2534 shall not be poured 5413 out on Jerusalem 3389 by means 3027 of Shishak 7895.

 12:8 “But they will become 1961 his slaves 5650 so that they may learn 3045 [the difference between] My service 5656 and the service 5656 of the kingdoms 4467 of the countries 776.”

 12:9 ¶ So Shishak 7895 king 4428 of Egypt 4714 came 5927 up against 5921 Jerusalem 3389, and took 3947 the treasures 214 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 and the treasures 214 of the king’s 4428 palace 1004. He took 3947 everything 3605; he even took 3947 the golden 2091 shields 4043 which 834 Solomon 8010 had made 6213a.

 12:10 Then King 4428 Rehoboam 7346 made 6213a shields 4043 of bronze 5178 in their place 8478 and committed 6485 them to the care 3027 of the commanders 8269 of the guard 7323 who guarded 8104 the door 6607 of the king’s 4428 house 1004.

 12:11 As often 1767 as the king 4428 entered 935 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, the guards 7323 came 935 and carried 5375 them and [then] brought 7725 them back 7725 into the guards’ 7323 room 8372.

 12:12 And when he humbled 3665 himself, the anger 639 of the LORD 3068 turned 7725 away 7725 from him, so as not to destroy 7843 [him] completely 3617; and also 1571 conditions 1697 were good 2896a in Judah 3063.

 12:13 ¶ So King 4428 Rehoboam 7346 strengthened 2388 himself in Jerusalem 3389 and reigned 4427a. Now 3588 Rehoboam 7346 was forty-one 705 259 years 8141 old 1121 when he began to reign 4427a, and he reigned 4427a seventeen 7651 6240 years 8141 in Jerusalem 3389, the city 5892b which 834 the LORD 3068 had chosen 977 from all 3605 the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478, to put 7760 His name 8034 there 8033. And his mother’s 517 name 8034 was Naamah 5279a the Ammonitess 5985.

 12:14 He did 6213a evil 7451b because 3588 he did not set 3559 his heart 3820 to seek 1875 the LORD 3068.

 12:15 ¶ Now the acts 1697 of Rehoboam 7346, from first 7223 to last 314, are they not written 3789 in the records 1697 of Shemaiah 8098 the prophet 5030 and of Iddo 5714 the seer 2374, according to genealogical 3187 enrollment 3187? And [there were] wars 4421 between Rehoboam 7346 and Jeroboam 3379 continually 3605 3117.

 12:16 And Rehoboam 7346 slept 7901 with his fathers 1 and was buried 6912 in the city 5892b of David 1732; and his son 1121 Abijah 29 became 4427a king 4427a in his place 8478.
