 109:1 ¶
[[For the end, a Psalm of David.]] O God, pass not over my praise in silence; |
|
 109:1 ¶
[[To the chief Musician,ºº
A Psalmº
of David.]]º
Holdº
notº
thy peace,ºº
O Elohimº
of my praise;º |
 109:2
for the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the crafty [man] have been opened against me: they have spoken against me with a crafty tongue. |
 109:2
Forº
the mouthº
of the wickedº
and the mouthº
of the deceitfulº
are openedºº
againstº
me: they have spokenºº
againstº
me with a lyingº
tongue.º |
 109:3
And they have compassed me with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause. |
 109:3
They compassedºº
me aboutº
also with wordsº
of hatred;º
and foughtºº
againstº
me without a cause.º |
 109:4
Instead of loving me, they falsely accused me: but I continued to pray. |
 109:4
Forº
my loveº
they are my adversaries:ºº
but Iº
[give myself unto] prayer.º |
 109:5
And they rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. |
 109:5
And they have rewardedººº
me evilº
forº
good,º
and hatredº
forº
my love.º |
 109:6
Set thou a sinner against him; and let the devil stand at his right hand. |
 109:6
Setºº
thou a wicked manº
overº
him: and let Satanº
standºº
atº
his right hand.º |
 109:7
When he is judged, let him go forth condemned: and let his prayer become sin. |
 109:7
When he shall be judged,ºº
let him beºº
condemned:ºº
and letº
his prayerº
becomeº
sin.º |
 109:8
Let his days be few: and let another take his office of overseer. |
 109:8
Let his daysº
beº
few;º
[and] let anotherº
takeºº
his office.º |
 109:9
Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow. |
 109:9
Let his childrenº
beº
fatherless,º
and his wifeº
a widow.º |
 109:10
Let his children wander without a dwelling-place, and beg: let them be cast out of their habitations. |
 109:10
Let his childrenº
be continuallyºº
vagabonds,ºº
and beg:ºº
let them seekºº
[their bread] also out of their desolate places.ºº |
 109:11
Let [his] creditor exact all that belongs to him: and let strangers spoil his labours. |
 109:11
Let the extortionerºº
catchºº
allº
thatº
he hath; and let the strangersºº
spoilºº
his labour.º |
 109:12
Let him have no helper; neither let there be any one to have compassion on his fatherless children. |
 109:12
Let there beº
noneº
to extendºº
mercyº
unto him: neitherº
let there beº
any to favourºº
his fatherless children.º |
 109:13
Let his children be [given up] to utter destruction: in one generation let his name be blotted out. |
 109:13
Let his posterityº
beº
cut off;ºº
[and] in the generationº
followingº
let their nameº
be blotted out.ºº |
 109:14
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. |
 109:14
Let the iniquityº
of his fathersº
be rememberedºº
withº
Yahweh;º
and let notº
the sinº
of his motherº
be blotted out.ºº |
 109:15
Let them be before the Lord continually; and let their memorial be blotted out from the earth. |
 109:15
Let them beº
beforeº
Yahwehº
continually,º
that he may cut offºº
the memoryº
of them from the earth.ºº |
 109:16
Because he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the needy and poor man, and [that] to slay him that was pricked in the heart. |
 109:16
Becauseº
thatº
he rememberedºº
notº
to shewºº
mercy,º
but persecutedºº
the poorº
and needyº
man,º
that he might even slayºº
the brokenºº
in heart.º |
 109:17
He loved cursing also, and it shall come upon him; and he took not pleasure in blessing, so it shall be removed far from him. |
 109:17
As he lovedºº
cursing,º
so let it comeºº
unto him: as he delightedºº
notº
in blessing,º
so let it be farºº
fromº
him. |
 109:18
Yea, he put on cursing as a garment, and it is come as water into his bowels, and as oil into his bones. |
 109:18
As he clothedºº
himself with cursingº
like as with his garment,º
so let it comeºº
into his bowelsº
like water,º
and like oilº
into his bones.º |
 109:19
Let it be to him as a garment which he puts on, and as a girdle with which he girds himself continually. |
 109:19
Let it beº
unto him as the garmentº
[which] coverethºº
him, and for a girdleº
wherewith he is girdedºº
continually.º |
 109:20
This is the dealing of the Lord with those who falsely accuse me, and of them that speak evil against my soul. |
 109:20
[Let] thisº
[be] the rewardº
of mine adversariesºº
fromºº
Yahweh,º
and of them that speakºº
evilº
againstº
my soul.º |
 109:21
But thou, O Lord, Lord, deal [mercifully] with me, for thy name's sake: for thy mercy is good. |
 109:21
But doºº
thouº
forº
me, O Yahwehº
Adonai,º
for thy name'sº
sake:ºº
becauseº
thy mercyº
[is] good,º
deliverºº
thou me. |
 109:22
Deliver me, for I am poor and needy; and my heart is troubled within me. |
 109:22
Forº
Iº
[am] poorº
and needy,º
and my heartº
is woundedºº
withinº
me. |
 109:23
I am removed as a shadow in its going down: I am tossed up and down like locusts. |
 109:23
I am goneºº
like the shadowº
when it declineth:ºº
I am tossed up and downºº
as the locust.º |
 109:24
My knees are weakened through fasting, and my flesh is changed by reason of [the want of] oil. |
 109:24
My kneesº
are weakºº
through fasting;ºº
and my fleshº
failethºº
of fatness.ºº |
 109:25
I became also a reproach to them: [when] they saw me they shook their heads. |
 109:25
Iº
becameº
also a reproachº
unto them: [when] they lookedºº
uponº
me they shakedºº
their heads.º |
 109:26
Help me, O Lord my God; and save me according to thy mercy. |
 109:26
Helpºº
me, O Yahwehº
my Elohim:º
O saveºº
me according to thy mercy:º |
 109:27
And let them know that this is thy hand; and [that] thou, Lord, hast wrought it. |
 109:27
Thatº
they may knowºº
that thisº
[is] thy hand;º
[that] thou,º
Yahweh,º
hast doneºº
it. |
 109:28
Let them curse, but thou shalt bless: let them that rise up against me be ashamed, but let thy servant rejoice. |
 109:28
Let themº
curse,ºº
but blessºº
thou:º
when they arise,ºº
let them be ashamed;ºº
but let thy servantº
rejoice.ºº |
 109:29
Let those that falsely accuse me be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle. |
 109:29
Let mine adversariesºº
be clothedºº
with shame,º
and let them coverºº
themselves with their own confusion,º
as with a mantle.º |
 109:30
I will give thanks to the Lord abundantly with my mouth; and in the midst of many I will praise him. |
 109:30
I will greatlyº
praiseºº
Yahwehº
with my mouth;º
yea, I will praiseºº
him amongº
the multitude.º |
 109:31
For he stood on the right hand of the poor, to save [me] from them that persecute my soul. |
 109:31
Forº
he shall standºº
at the right handº
of the poor,º
to saveºº
[him] from those that condemnººº
his soul.º |
