 30:1 ¶
Woe to the apostate children, saith the Lord: ye have framed counsel, not by me, and covenants not by my Spirit, to add sins to sins: |
|
 30:1 ¶
Woeº
to the rebelliousºº
children,º
saithºº
Yahweh,º
that takeºº
counsel,º
but notº
ofº
me; and that coverºº
with a covering,º
but notº
of my spirit,º
thatº
they may addºº
sinº
toº
sin:º |
 30:2
[even] they that proceed to go down into Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, but they have not enquired of me, that they might be helped by Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, and protected by the Mizraimites{gr.Egyptians}. |
 30:2
That walkºº
to go downºº
into Egypt,º
and have notº
askedºº
at my mouth;º
to strengthenºº
themselves in the strengthº
of Pharaoh,º
and to trustºº
in the shadowº
of Egypt!º |
 30:3
For the protection of Pharaoh shall be to you a disgrace, and [there shall be] a reproach to them that trust in Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
 30:3
Therefore shall the strengthº
of Pharaohº
beº
your shame,º
and the trustº
in the shadowº
of Egyptº
[your] confusion.º |
 30:4
For there are princes in Tanes, evil messengers. |
 30:4
Forº
his princesº
wereº
at Zoan,º
and his ambassadorsº
cameºº
to Hanes.º |
 30:5
In vain shall they labour [in seeking] to a people, which shall not profit them for help, but [shall be] for a shame and reproach. |
 30:5
They were allº
ashamedººº
ofº
a peopleº
[that] could notº
profitºº
them, norº
be an helpº
norº
profit,ºº
butº
a shame,º
and alsoº
a reproach.º |
 30:6
THE VISION OF THE QUADRUPEDS IN THE DESERT. In affliction and distress, [where are] the lion and lion's whelp, thence [come] also asps, and the young of flying asps, [there shall they be] who bore their wealth on asses and camels to a nation which shall not profit them. |
 30:6
The burdenº
of the beastsº
of the south:º
into the landº
of troubleº
and anguish,º
fromº
whence [come] the youngº
and old lion,º
the viperº
and fieryºº
flyingºº
serpent,ºº
they will carryºº
their richesº
uponº
the shouldersº
of young asses,º
and their treasuresº
uponº
the bunchesº
of camels,º
toº
a peopleº
[that] shall notº
profitºº
[them]. |
 30:7
The Mizraimites{gr.Egyptians} shall help you utterly in vain: tell them, This your consolation is vain. |
 30:7
For the Egyptiansº
shall helpºº
in vain,º
and to no purpose:º
thereforeº
have I criedºº
concerning this,º
Theirº
strengthº
[is] to sit still.º |
 30:8 ¶
Now then sit down and write these words on a tablet, and in a book; for these things shall be for [many long] days, and even for ever. |
 30:8 ¶
Nowº
go,ºº
writeºº
it beforeº
them inº
a table,º
and noteºº
it inº
a book,º
that it may beº
for the timeº
to comeº
forº
everº
and ever:ºº |
 30:9
For the people is disobedient, false children, who would not hear the law of God: |
 30:9
Thatº
thisº
[is] a rebelliousº
people,º
lyingº
children,º
childrenº
[that] willºº
notº
hearºº
the lawº
of Yahweh:º |
 30:10
who say to the prophets, Report not to us; and to them that see visions, Speak [them] not to us, but speak and report to us another error; |
 30:10
Whichº
sayºº
to the seers,ºº
Seeºº
not;º
and to the prophets,º
Prophesyºº
notº
unto us right things,º
speakºº
unto us smooth things,º
prophesyºº
deceits:º |
 30:11
and turn us aside from this way; remove from us this path, and remove from us the oracle of Israel. |
 30:11
Getº
you outºº
ofº
the way,º
turn asideºº
out ofº
the path,º
causeº
the Holy Oneº
of Israelº
to ceaseºº
from beforeºº
us. |
 30:12
Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye have refused to obey these words, and have trusted in falsehood; and because thou hast murmured, and been confident in this respect: |
 30:12
Whereforeº
thusº
saithºº
the Holy Oneº
of Israel,º
Becauseº
ye despiseºº
thisº
word,º
and trustºº
in oppressionº
and perverseness,ºº
and stayºº
thereon:º |
 30:13
therefore shall this sin be to you as a wall suddenly falling when a strong city has been taken, of which the fall is very near at hand. |
 30:13
Thereforeº
thisº
iniquityº
shall beº
to you as a breachº
ready to fall,ºº
swelling outºº
in a highºº
wall,º
whoseº
breakingº
comethºº
suddenlyº
at an instant.º |
 30:14
And the fall thereof shall be as the breaking of an earthen vessel, [as] small fragments of a pitcher, so that thou shouldest not find among them a sherd, with which thou mightest take up fire, and with which thou shouldest draw a little water. |
 30:14
And he shall breakºº
it as the breakingº
of the potters'ºº
vesselº
that is broken in pieces;ºº
he shall notº
spare:ºº
so that there shall notº
be foundºº
in the burstingº
of it a sherdº
to takeºº
fireº
from the hearth,ººº
or to takeºº
waterº
[withal] out of the pit.ºº |
 30:15
Thus saith the Lord, the Holy Lord of Israel; When thou shalt turn and mourn, then thou shalt be saved; and thou shalt know where thou wast, when thou didst trust in vanities: [then] your strength became vain, yet ye would not hearken: |
 30:15
Forº
thusº
saithºº
Adonaiº
Yahweh,º
the Holy Oneº
of Israel;º
In returningº
and restº
shall ye be saved;ºº
in quietnessºº
and in confidenceº
shall beº
your strength:º
and ye wouldºº
not.º |
 30:16
but ye said, We will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will be aided by swift riders; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift. |
 30:16
But ye said,ºº
No;º
forº
we will fleeºº
uponº
horses;º
thereforeºº
shall ye flee:ºº
and, We will rideºº
uponº
the swift;º
thereforeºº
shall they that pursueºº
you be swift.ºº |
 30:17
A thousand shall flee because of the voice of one, and many shall flee on account of the voice of five; until ye be left as a signal-post upon a mountain, and as one bearing an ensign upon a hill. |
 30:17
Oneº
thousandº
[shall flee] atºº
the rebukeº
of one;º
atºº
the rebukeº
of fiveº
shall ye flee:ºº
tillºº
ye be leftºº
as a beaconº
uponº
the topº
of a mountain,º
and as an ensignº
onº
an hill.º |
 30:18 ¶
And the Lord will again wait, that he may pity you, and will therefore be exalted that he may have mercy upon you: because the Lord your God is a judge: blessed are they that stay themselves upon him. |
 30:18 ¶
And thereforeº
will Yahwehº
wait,ºº
that he may be graciousºº
unto you, and thereforeº
will he be exalted,ºº
that he may have mercyºº
upon you: forº
Yahwehº
[is] an Elohimº
of judgment:º
blessedº
[are] allº
they that waitºº
for him. |
 30:19
For the holy people shall dwell in Zion{gr.Sion}: and [whereas] Jerusalem has wept bitterly, [saying], Pity me; he shall pity thee: when he perceived the voice of thy cry, he hearkened to thee. |
 30:19
Forº
the peopleº
shall dwellºº
in Zionº
at Jerusalem:º
thou shalt weepºº
no more:ººº
he will be veryºº
graciousºº
unto thee at the voiceº
of thy cry;ºº
when he shall hearºº
it, he will answerºº
thee. |
 30:20
And [though] the Lord shall give you the bread of affliction and scant water, yet they that cause thee to err shall no more at all draw nigh to thee; for thine eyes shall see those that cause thee to err, |
 30:20
And [though] Yahwehº
giveºº
you the breadº
of adversity,º
and the waterº
of affliction,º
yet shall notº
thy teachersºº
be removed into a cornerºº
any more,º
but thine eyesº
shallº
seeººº
thy teachers:ºº |
 30:21
and thine ears shall hear the words of them that went after thee to lead thee astray, who say, This [is] the way, let us walk in it, whether to the right or to the left. |
 30:21
And thine earsº
shall hearºº
a wordº
behindºº
thee, saying,ºº
Thisº
[is] the way,º
walkº
ye in it,ºº
whenº
ye turn to the right hand,ºº
and whenº
ye turn to the left.ºº |
 30:22
And thou shalt pollute the plated idols, and thou shalt grind to powder the gilt ones, and shalt scatter them as the water of a removed [woman], and thou shalt thrust them forth as dung. |
 30:22
Ye shall defileºº
alsoº
the coveringº
of thy graven imagesº
of silver,º
and the ornamentº
of thy molten imagesº
of gold:º
thou shalt cast them awayºº
asº
a menstruous cloth;º
thou shalt sayºº
unto it, Get thee hence.ºº |
 30:23
Then shall there be rain to the seed of thy land; and the bread of the fruit of thy land shall be plenteous and rich: and thy cattle shall feed in that day in a fertile and spacious place. |
 30:23
Then shall he giveºº
the rainº
of thy seed,º
thatº
thou shalt sowººº
the groundº
withal; and breadº
of the increaseº
of the earth,º
and it shall beº
fatº
and plenteous:º
in thatº
dayº
shall thy cattleº
feedºº
in largeºº
pastures.º |
 30:24
Your bulls and your oxen that till the ground, shall eat chaff mixed with winnowed barley. |
 30:24
The oxenº
likewise and the young assesº
that earºº
the groundº
shall eatºº
cleanº
provender,º
whichº
hath been winnowedºº
with the shovelº
and with the fan.º |
 30:25
And there shall be upon every lofty mountain and upon every high hill, water running in that day, when many shall perish, and when the towers shall fall. |
 30:25
And there shall beº
uponº
everyº
highº
mountain,º
and uponº
everyº
highºº
hill,º
riversº
[and] streamsº
of watersº
in the dayº
of the greatº
slaughter,º
when the towersº
fall.ºº |
 30:26
And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold in the day when the Lord shall heal the breach of his people, and shall heal the pain of thy wound. |
 30:26
Moreover the lightº
of the moonº
shall beº
as the lightº
of the sun,º
and the lightº
of the sunº
shall beº
sevenfold,º
as the lightº
of sevenº
days,º
in the dayº
that Yahwehº
bindeth upººº
the breachº
of his people,º
and healethºº
the strokeº
of their wound.º |
 30:27 ¶
Behold, the name of the Lord comes after a [long] time, burning wrath: the word of his lips is with glory, a word full of anger, and the anger of his wrath shall devour as fire. |
 30:27 ¶
Behold,º
the nameº
of Yahwehº
comethºº
from far,ºº
burningºº
[with] his anger,º
and the burdenº
[thereof is] heavy:º
his lipsº
are fullºº
of indignation,º
and his tongueº
as a devouringºº
fire:º |
 30:28
And his breath, as rushing water in a valley, shall reach as far as the neck, and be divided, to confound the nations for [their] vain error: error also shall pursue them, and overtake them. |
 30:28
And his breath,º
as an overflowingºº
stream,º
shall reach to the midstºº
ofº
the neck,º
to siftºº
the nationsº
with the sieveº
of vanity:º
and [there shall be] a bridleº
inº
the jawsº
of the people,º
causing [them] to err.ºº |
 30:29
Must ye always rejoice, and go into my holy places continually, as they that keep a feast? and must ye go with a pipe, as those that rejoice, into the mountain of the Lord, to the God of Israel? |
 30:29
Ye shall haveº
a song,º
as in the nightº
[when] a holyºº
solemnityº
is kept;ººº
and gladnessº
of heart,º
as when one goethºº
with a pipeº
to comeºº
into the mountainº
of Yahweh,º
toº
the mighty Oneº
of Israel.º |
 30:30
And the Lord shall make his glorious voice to be heard, and the wrath of his arm, to make a display with wrath and anger and devouring flame: he shall lighten terribly, and [his wrath shall be] as water and violent hail. |
 30:30
And Yahwehº
shall causeº
his gloriousº
voiceº
to be heard,ºº
and shall shewºº
the lighting downº
of his arm,º
with the indignationº
of [his] anger,º
and [with] the flameº
of a devouringºº
fire,º
[with] scattering,º
and tempest,º
and hailstones.ºº |
 30:31
For by the voice of the Lord the Assyrians shall be overcome, [even] by the stroke wherewith he shall smite them. |
 30:31
Forº
through the voiceºº
of Yahwehº
shall the Assyrianº
be beaten down,ºº
[which] smoteºº
with a rod.º |
 30:32
And it shall happen to him from every side, [that] they from whom their hope of assistance was, in which he trusted, themselves shall war against him in turn with drums and with harp. |
 30:32
And [in] every placeº
where the groundedº
staffº
shall pass,º
whichº
Yahwehº
shall layºº
uponº
him, [it] shall beº
with tabretsº
and harps:º
and in battlesº
of shakingº
will he fightºº
with it. |
 30:33
For thou shalt be required before [thy] time: has it been prepared for thee also to reign? nay, God has [prepared for thee] a deep trench, wood piled, fire and much wood: the wrath of the Lord [shall be] as a trench kindled with sulphur. |
 30:33
Forº
Tophetº
[is] ordainedºº
of old;ºº
yea,º
for the kingº
itº
is prepared;ºº
he hath made [it] deepºº
[and] large:ºº
the pileº
thereof [is] fireº
and muchºº
wood;º
the breathº
of Yahweh,º
like a streamº
of brimstone,º
doth kindleºº
it. |
