13:1 ¶
THE VISION WHICH ISAIAH{gr.ESAIAS} SON OF AMOS SAW AGAINST BABYLON. |
|
13:1 ¶
The burden°
of Babylon,°
which°
Isaiah°
the son°
of Amoz°
did see.°° |
13:2
Lift up a standard on the mountain of the plain, exalt the voice to them, beckon with the hand, open [the gates], ye rulers. |
|
13:2
Lift ye up°°
a banner°
upon°
the high°°
mountain,°
exalt°°
the voice°
unto them, shake°°
the hand,°
that they may go°°
into the gates°
of the nobles.° |
13:3
I give command, and I bring them: giants are coming to fulfil my wrath, rejoicing at the same time and insulting. |
|
13:3
I°
have commanded°°
my sanctified ones,°°
I have also°
called°°
my mighty ones°
for mine anger,°
[even] them that rejoice°
in my highness.° |
13:4
A voice of many nations on the mountains, [even] like [to that] of many nations; a voice of kings and nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts has given command to a war-like nation, |
|
13:4
The noise°
of a multitude°
in the mountains,°
like°
as°
of a great°
people;°
a tumultuous°
noise°
of the kingdoms°
of nations°
gathered together:°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth°
mustereth°°
the host°
of the battle.° |
13:5
to come from a land afar off, from the utmost foundation of heaven; the Lord and his warriors [are coming] to destroy all the world. |
|
13:5
They come°°
from a far°
country,°°°
from the end°°
of heaven,°
[even] Yahweh,°
and the weapons°
of his indignation,°
to destroy°°
the whole°
land.° |
13:6 ¶
Howl ye, for the day of the Lord is near, and destruction from God shall arrive. |
|
13:6 ¶
Howl°°
ye; for°
the day°
of Yahweh°
[is] at hand;°
it shall come°°
as a destruction°
from Shaddai.°° |
13:7
Therefore every hand shall become powerless, and every soul of man shall be dismayed. |
|
13:7
Therefore°°
shall all°
hands°
be faint,°°
and every°
man's°
heart°
shall melt:°° |
13:8
The elders shall be troubled, and pangs shall seize them, as of a woman in travail: and they shall mourn one to another, and shall be amazed, and shall change their countenance as a flame. |
|
13:8
And they shall be afraid:°°
pangs°
and sorrows°
shall take hold°°
of them; they shall be in pain°°
as a woman that travaileth:°°
they shall be amazed°°
one°
at°
another;°
their faces°
[shall be as] flames.°° |
13:9
For behold! the day of the Lord is coming which cannot be escaped, [a day] of wrath and anger, to make the world desolate, and to destroy sinners out of it. |
|
13:9
Behold,°
the day°
of Yahweh°
cometh,°°
cruel°
both with wrath°
and fierce°
anger,°
to lay°°
the land°
desolate:°
and he shall destroy°°
the sinners°
thereof out of°
it. |
13:10
For the stars of heaven, and Orion, and all the host of heaven, shall not give their light; and it shall be dark at sunrise, and the moon shall not give her light. |
|
13:10
For°
the stars°
of heaven°
and the constellations°
thereof shall not°
give°°
their light:°
the sun°
shall be darkened°°
in his going forth,°°
and the moon°
shall not°
cause her light°
to shine.°° |
13:11
And I will command evils for the whole world, and [will visit] their sins on the ungodly: and I will destroy the pride of transgressors, and will bring low the pride of the haughty. |
|
13:11
And I will punish°°
the world°
for°
[their] evil,°
and the wicked°
for°
their iniquity;°
and I will cause the arrogancy°
of the proud°
to cease,°°
and will lay low°°
the haughtiness°
of the terrible.° |
13:12
And they that are left shall be more precious than gold tried in the fire; and a man shall be more precious than the stone that is in Suphir. |
|
13:12
I will make a man°
more precious°°
than fine gold;°°
even a man°
than the golden wedge°°
of Ophir.° |
13:13
For the heaven shall be enraged, and the earth shall be shaken from her foundation, because of the fierce anger of the Lord of hosts, in the day in which his wrath shall come on. |
|
13:13
Therefore°°
I will shake°°
the heavens,°
and the earth°
shall remove°°
out of her place,°°
in the wrath°
of Yahweh°
Sabaoth,°
and in the day°
of his fierce°
anger.° |
13:14
And they that are left shall be as a fleeing fawn, and as a stray sheep, and there shall be none to gather [them]: so that a man shall turn back to his people, and a man shall flee to his own land. |
|
13:14
And it shall be°
as the chased°°
roe,°
and as a sheep°
that no°
man taketh up:°°
they shall every man°
turn°°
to°
his own people,°
and flee°°
every one°
into°
his own land.° |
13:15
For whosoever shall be taken shall be overcome; and they that are gathered together shall fall by the sword. |
|
13:15
Every one°
that is found°°
shall be thrust through;°°
and every one°
that is joined°°
[unto them] shall fall°°
by the sword.° |
13:16
And they shall dash their children before their eyes; and they shall spoil their houses, and shall take their wives. |
|
13:16
Their children°
also shall be dashed°
to pieces°°
before their eyes;°
their houses°
shall be spoiled,°°
and their wives°
ravished.°°°° |
13:17
Behold, I will stir up against you the Medes, who do not regard silver, neither have they need of gold. |
|
13:17
Behold,°
I will stir up°°°
the Medes°
against°
them, which°
shall not°
regard°°
silver;°
and [as for] gold,°
they shall not°
delight°°
in it. |
13:18
They shall break the bows of the young men; and they shall have no mercy on your children; nor shall their eyes spare thy children. |
|
13:18
[Their] bows°
also shall dash°°
the young men°
to pieces;°°
and they shall have no°
pity°°
on the fruit°
of the womb;°
their eye°
shall not°
spare°°°
children.° |
13:19 ¶
And Babylon, which is called glorious by the king of the Chaldeans, shall be as [when] God overthrew Sodoma, and Gomorrah{gr.Gomorrha}. |
|
13:19 ¶
And Babylon,°
the glory°
of kingdoms,°
the beauty°
of the Chaldees'°
excellency,°
shall be°
as when Elohim°
overthrew°°
Sodom°
and Gomorrah.° |
13:20
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall any enter into it for many generations: neither shall the Arabians pass through it; nor shall shepherds at all rest in it. |
|
13:20
It shall never°°
be inhabited,°°
neither°
shall it be dwelt°°
in from generation°
to°
generation:°
neither°
shall the Arabian°
pitch tent°°
there;°
neither°
shall the shepherds°°
make their fold°°
there.° |
13:21
But wild beasts shall rest there; and the houses shall be filled with howling; and monsters shall rest there, and devils shall dance there, |
|
13:21
But wild beasts of the desert°
shall lie°°
there;°
and their houses°
shall be full°°
of doleful creatures;°
and owls°°
shall dwell°°
there,°
and satyrs°
shall dance°°
there.° |
13:22
and satyrs shall dwell there; and hedgehogs shall make their nests in their houses. It will come soon, and will not tarry. |
|
13:22
And the wild beasts of the islands°
shall cry°°
in their desolate houses,°
and dragons°
in [their] pleasant°
palaces:°
and her time°
[is] near°
to come,°°
and her days°
shall not°
be prolonged.°° |
