1 How the lamps are to be lighted. 5 The consecration of the Levites. 23 The age and time of their service.

 8:1 Then the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 8:2 “Speak 1696 to Aaron 175 and say 559 to him, ‘When you mount 5927 the lamps 5216, the seven 7651 lamps 5216 will give 215 light 215 in the front 6440 of the lampstand 4501.’”

 8:3 Aaron 175 therefore did 6213a so 3651; he mounted 5927 its lamps 5216 at the front 6440 of the lampstand 4501, just 3512c as the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 Moses 4872.

 8:4 Now this 2088 was the workmanship 4639 of the lampstand 4501, hammered 4749 work 4749 of gold 2091; from its base 3409 to its flowers 6525 it was hammered 4749 work 4749; according to the pattern 4758 which 834 the LORD 3068 had shown 7200 Moses 4872, so 3651 he made 6213a the lampstand 4501.

 8:5 ¶ Again the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 8:6 “Take 3947 the Levites 3881 from among 8432 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 and cleanse 2891 them.

 8:7 “Thus 3541 you shall do 6213a to them, for their cleansing 2891: [sprinkle] purifying 2891 water 4325 on them, and let them use 5674a a razor 8593 over 5921 their whole 3605 body 1320 and wash 3526 their clothes 899b, and they will be clean 2891.

 8:8 “Then let them take 3947 a bull 6499 1121 1241 with its grain offering 4503, fine 5560 flour 5560 mixed 1101a with oil 8081; and a second 8145 bull 6499 you shall take 3947 for a sin 2403b offering 2403b.

 8:9 “So you shall present 7126 the Levites 3881 before 6440 the tent 168 of meeting 4150. You shall also assemble 6950 the whole 3605 congregation 5712 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478,

 8:10 and present 7126 the Levites 3881 before 6440 the LORD 3068; and the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 shall lay 5564 their hands 3027 on the Levites 3881.

 8:11 “Aaron 175 then shall present 5130 the Levites 3881 before 6440 the LORD 3068 as a wave 8573 offering 8573 from the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, that they may qualify 1961 to perform 5647 the service 5656 of the LORD 3068.

 8:12 “Now the Levites 3881 shall lay 5564 their hands 3027 on the heads 7218 of the bulls 6499; then offer 6213a the one 259 for a sin 2403b offering 2403b and the other 259 for a burnt 5930a offering 5930a to the LORD 3068, to make 3722a atonement 3722a for the Levites 3881.

 8:13 “You shall have the Levites 3881 stand 5975 before 6440 Aaron 175 and before 6440 his sons 1121 so as to present 5130 them as a wave 8573 offering 8573 to the LORD 3068.

 8:14 ¶ “Thus you shall separate 914 the Levites 3881 from among 8432 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, and the Levites 3881 shall be Mine.

 8:15 “Then after 310 that the Levites 3881 may go 935 in to serve 5647 the tent 168 of meeting 4150. But you shall cleanse 2891 them and present 5130 them as a wave 8573 offering 8573;

 8:16 for they are wholly 5414 given 5414 to Me from among 8432 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478. I have taken 3947 them for Myself instead 8478 of every 3605 first 6363b issue 6363b of the womb 7358, the firstborn 1060 of all 3605 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 8:17 “For every 3605 firstborn 1060 among the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 is Mine, among the men 120 and among the animals 929; on the day 3117 that I struck 5221 down 5221 all 3605 the firstborn 1060 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714 I sanctified 6942 them for Myself.

 8:18 “But I have taken 3947 the Levites 3881 instead 8478 of every 3605 firstborn 1060 among the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 8:19 “I have given 5414 the Levites 3881 as a gift 5414 to Aaron 175 and to his sons 1121 from among 8432 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, to perform 5647 the service 5656 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 at the tent 168 of meeting 4150 and to make 3722a atonement 3722a on behalf 5921 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, so that there will be no 3808 plague 5063 among the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 by their coming 5066 near 5066 to the sanctuary 6944.”

 8:20 ¶ Thus did 6213a Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 and all 3605 the congregation 5712 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 to the Levites 3881; according to all 3605 that the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 Moses 4872 concerning the Levites 3881, so 3651 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 did 6213a to them.

 8:21 The Levites 3881, too, purified 2398 themselves from sin 2398 and washed 3526 their clothes 899b; and Aaron 175 presented 5130 them as a wave 8573 offering 8573 before 6440 the LORD 3068. Aaron 175 also made 3722a atonement 3722a for them to cleanse 2891 them.

 8:22 Then after 310 that the Levites 3881 went 935 in to perform 5647 their service 5656 in the tent 168 of meeting 4150 before 6440 Aaron 175 and before 6440 his sons 1121; just 3512c as the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 Moses 4872 concerning 5921 the Levites 3881, so 3651 they did 6213a to them.

 8:23 ¶ Now the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 8:24 “This 2088 is what 834 [applies] to the Levites 3881: from twenty-five 6242 2568 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605 they shall enter 935 to perform 6633 service 6635 in the work 5656 of the tent 168 of meeting 4150.

 8:25 “But at the age 1121 of fifty 2572 years 8141 they shall retire 7725 from service 6635 in the work 5656 and not work 5647 any 5750 more 5750.

 8:26 “They may, however, assist 8334 their brothers 251 in the tent 168 of meeting 4150, to keep 8104 an obligation 4931, but they [themselves] shall do 5647 no 3808 work 5656. Thus 3602 you shall deal 6213a with the Levites 3881 concerning their obligations 4931.”
