1 The names of the men who were sent to search the land. 17 Their instructions. 21 Their acts. 26 Their relation.

 13:1 Then the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872 saying 559,

 13:2 “Send 7971 out for yourself men 376 so that they may spy 8446 out the land 776 of Canaan 3667a, which 834 I am going to give 5414 to the sons 1121 of Israel 3478; you shall send 7971 a man 376 from each 376 259 of their fathers’ 1 tribes 4294, every 3605 one 3605 a leader 5387a among them.”

 13:3 So Moses 4872 sent 7971 them from the wilderness 4057b of Paran 6290 at the command 6310 of the LORD 3068, all 3605 of them men 376 who were heads 7218 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 13:4 These 428 then [were] their names 8034: from the tribe 4294 of Reuben 7205, Shammua 8051 the son 1121 of Zaccur 2139;

 13:5 from the tribe 4294 of Simeon 8095, Shaphat 8202 the son 1121 of Hori 2752;

 13:6 from the tribe 4294 of Judah 3063, Caleb 3612 the son 1121 of Jephunneh 3312;

 13:7 from the tribe 4294 of Issachar 3485, Igal 3008 the son 1121 of Joseph 3130;

 13:8 from the tribe 4294 of Ephraim 669, Hoshea 1954 the son 1121 of Nun 5126;

 13:9 from the tribe 4294 of Benjamin 1144, Palti 6406 the son 1121 of Raphu 7505;

 13:10 from the tribe 4294 of Zebulun 2074, Gaddiel 1427 the son 1121 of Sodi 5476;

 13:11 from the tribe 4294 of Joseph 3130, from the tribe 4294 of Manasseh 4519, Gaddi 3426 the son 1121 of Susi 5485;

 13:12 from the tribe 4294 of Dan 1835, Ammiel 5988 the son 1121 of Gemalli 1582;

 13:13 from the tribe 4294 of Asher 836, Sethur 5639 the son 1121 of Michael 4317;

 13:14 from the tribe 4294 of Naphtali 5321, Nahbi 5147 the son 1121 of Vophsi 2058;

 13:15 from the tribe 4294 of Gad 1410, Geuel 1345 the son 1121 of Machi 4352.

 13:16 These 428 are the names 8034 of the men 376 whom 834 Moses 4872 sent 7971 to spy 8446 out the land 776; but Moses 4872 called 7121 Hoshea 1954 the son 1121 of Nun 5126, Joshua 3091.

 13:17 ¶ When Moses 4872 sent 7971 them to spy 8446 out the land 776 of Canaan 3667a, he said 559 to them, “Go 5927 up there 2088 into the Negev 5045; then go 5927 up into the hill 2022 country 2022.

 13:18 “See 7200 what 4100 the land 776 is like, and whether the people 5971a who live 3427 in it are strong 2389 [or] weak 7504b, whether they are few 4592 or 518 many 7227a.

 13:19 “How 4100 is the land 776 in which 834 they live 3427, is it good 2896a or 518 bad 7451a? And how 4100 are the cities 5892b in which 834 1992a they live 3427, are [they] like [open] camps 4264 or 518 with fortifications 4013?

 13:20 “How 4100 is the land 776, is it fat 8082a or 518 lean 7330? Are there 3426 trees 6086 in it or 518 not? Make 2388 an effort 2388 then to get 3947 some 4480 of the fruit 6529 of the land 776.” Now the time 3117 was the time 3117 of the first 1061 ripe 1061 grapes 6025.

 13:21 ¶ So they went 5927 up and spied 8446 out the land 776 from the wilderness 4057b of Zin 6790 as far 5704 as Rehob 7340, at Lebo-hamath 935.

 13:22 When they had gone 5927 up into the Negev 5045, they came 935 to Hebron 2275a where 8033 Ahiman 289, Sheshai 8344 and Talmai 8526, the descendants 3211 of Anak 6061 were. (Now Hebron 2275a was built 1129 seven 7651 years 8141 before 6440 Zoan 6814 in Egypt 4714.)

 13:23 ¶ Then they came 935 to the valley 5158a of Eshcol 812 and from there 8033 cut 3772 down 3772 a branch 2156 with a single 259 cluster 811 of grapes 6025; and they carried 5375 it on a pole 4132 between two 8147 [men], with some 4480 of the pomegranates 7416 and the figs 8384.

 13:24 That place 4725 was called 7121 the valley 5158a of Eshcol 812, because 5921 182 of the cluster 811 which 834 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 cut 3772 down 3772 from there 8033.

 13:25 ¶ When they returned 7725 from spying 8446 out the land 776, at the end 7093 of forty 705 days 3117,

 13:26 they proceeded 1980 to come 935 to Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 and to all 3605 the congregation 5712 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 in the wilderness 4057b of Paran 6290, at Kadesh 6946; and they brought 7725 back 7725 word 1697 to them and to all 3605 the congregation 5712 and showed 7200 them the fruit 6529 of the land 776.

 13:27 Thus they told 5608 him, and said 559, “We went 935 in to the land 776 where 834 you sent 7971 us; and it certainly 1571 does flow 2100 with milk 2461 and honey 1706, and this 2088 is its fruit 6529.

 13:28 “Nevertheless 657 3588, the people 5971a who live 3427 in the land 776 are strong 5794, and the cities 5892b are fortified 1219 [and] very 3966 large 1419; and moreover 1571, we saw 7200 the descendants 3211 of Anak 6061 there 8033.

 13:29 “Amalek 6002 is living 3427 in the land 776 of the Negev 5045 and the Hittites 2850 and the Jebusites 2983 and the Amorites 567 are living 3427 in the hill 2022 country 2022, and the Canaanites 3669a are living 3427 by the sea 3220 and by the side 3027 of the Jordan 3383.”

 13:30 ¶ Then Caleb 3612 quieted 2013 the people 5971a before 413 Moses 4872 and said 559, “We should by all 5927 means 5927 go 5927 up and take 3423 possession 3423 of it, for we will surely 3201 overcome 3201 it.”

 13:31 But the men 376 who 834 had gone 5927 up with him said 559, “We are not able 3201 to go 5927 up against 413 the people 5971a, for they are too 4480 strong 2389 for us.”

 13:32 So they gave 3318 out to the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 a bad 1681 report 1681 of the land 776 which 834 they had spied 8446 out, saying 559, “The land 776 through 5674a which 834 we have gone 5674a, in spying 8446 it out, is a land 776 that devours 398 its inhabitants 3427; and all 3605 the people 5971a whom 834 we saw 7200 in it are men 376 of [great] size 4060a.

 13:33 “There 8033 also we saw 7200 the Nephilim 5303 (the sons 1121 of Anak 6061 are part of the Nephilim 5303); and we became 1961 like grasshoppers 2284 in our own sight 5869, and so 3651 we were in their sight 5869.”
