Numbers 11

1 The burning at Taberah quenched by Moses' prayer. 4 The people lust for flesh, and loathe manna. 10 Moses complaineth of his charge. 16 God divideth his burden into seventy elders. 31 Quails are given in wrath at Kibroth-hattaavah.

 11:1 Now the people 5971a became 1961 like those who complain 596 of adversity 7451b in the hearing 241 of the LORD 3068; and when the LORD 3068 heard 8085 [it], His anger 639 was kindled 2734, and the fire 784 of the LORD 3068 burned 1197a among them and consumed 398 [some] of the outskirts 7097a of the camp 4264.

 11:2 The people 5971a therefore cried 6817 out to Moses 4872, and Moses 4872 prayed 6419 to the LORD 3068 and the fire 784 died 8257 out.

 11:3 So the name 8034 of that place 4725 was called 7121 Taberah 8404, because 3588 the fire 784 of the LORD 3068 burned 1197a among them.

 11:4 ¶ The rabble 628 who 834 were among 7130 them had 183 greedy 8378 desires 183 8378; and also 1571 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 wept 1058 again 7725 and said 559, “Who 4310 will give us meat 1320 to eat 398?

 11:5 “We remember 2142 the fish 1710 which 834 we used to eat 398 free 2600 in Egypt 4714, the cucumbers 7180 and the melons 20 and the leeks 2682 and the onions 1211 and the garlic 7762a,

 11:6 but now 6258 our appetite 5315 is gone 3002. There 369 is nothing 369 at all 3605 to look 5869 at except 1115 this manna 4478a.”

 11:7 ¶ Now the manna 4478a was like coriander 1407 seed 2233, and its appearance 5869 like that of bdellium 916.

 11:8 The people 5971a would go 7751a about 7751a and gather 3950 [it] and grind 2912 [it] between two millstones 7347 or 176 beat 1743 [it] in the mortar 4085, and boil 1310 [it] in the pot 6517 and make 6213a cakes 5692 with it; and its taste 2940 was as the taste 2940 of cakes 3955 baked 3955 with oil 8081.

 11:9 When the dew 2919 fell 3381 on the camp 4264 at night 3915, the manna 4478a would fall 3381 with it.

 11:10 ¶ Now Moses 4872 heard 8085 the people 5971a weeping 1058 throughout their families 4940, each 376 man 376 at the doorway 6607 of his tent 168; and the anger 639 of the LORD 3068 was kindled 2734 greatly 3966, and Moses 4872 was displeased 7489a 5869.

 11:11 So Moses 4872 said 559 to the LORD 3068, “Why 4100 have You been so hard 7489a on Your servant 5650? And why 4100 have I not found 4672 favor 2580 in Your sight 5869, that You have laid 7760 the burden 4853a of all 3605 this 2088 people 5971a on me?

 11:12 “Was it I who conceived 2029 all 3605 this 2088 people 5971a? Was it I who brought 3205 them forth 3205, that You should say 559 to me, ‘Carry 5375 them in your bosom 2436 as a nurse 539 carries 5375 a nursing 3243 infant 3243, to the land 127 which 834 You swore 7650 to their fathers 1’?

 11:13 “Where 4480 370 am I to get meat 1320 to give 5414 to all 3605 this 2088 people 5971a? For they weep 1058 before 5921 me, saying 559, ‘Give 5414 us meat 1320 that we may eat 398!’

 11:14 “I alone 905 am not able 3201 to carry 5375 all 3605 this 2088 people 5971a, because 3588 it is too 4480 burdensome 3515 for me.

 11:15 “So if 518 You are going to deal 6213a thus 3602 with me, please 4994 kill 2026 me at once 2026, if 518 I have found 4672 favor 2580 in Your sight 5869, and do not let me see 7200 my wretchedness 7463a.”

 11:16 ¶ The LORD 3068 therefore said 559 to Moses 4872, “Gather 622 for Me seventy 7657 men 376 from the elders 2205 of Israel 3478, whom 834 you know 3045 to be the elders 2205 of the people 5971a and their officers 7860 and bring 3947 them to the tent 168 of meeting 4150, and let them take 3320 their stand 3320 there 8033 with you.

 11:17 “Then I will come 3381 down 3381 and speak 1696 with you there 8033, and I will take 680 of the Spirit 7307 who 834 is upon you, and will put 7760 [Him] upon them; and they shall bear 5375 the burden 4853a of the people 5971a with you, so that you will not bear 5375 [it] all alone 905.

 11:18 “Say 559 to the people 5971a, ‘Consecrate 6942 yourselves for tomorrow 4279, and you shall eat 398 meat 1320; for you have wept 1058 in the ears 241 of the LORD 3068, saying 559, “Oh 4310 that someone 4310 would give us meat 1320 to eat 398! For we were well-off 2895 in Egypt 4714.” Therefore the LORD 3068 will give 5414 you meat 1320 and you shall eat 398.

 11:19 ‘You shall eat 398, not one 259 day 3117, nor 3808 two days 3117, nor 3808 five 2568 days 3117, nor 3808 ten 6235 days 3117, nor 3808 twenty 6242 days 3117,

 11:20 but a whole 3117 month 2320, until 5704 834 it comes 3318 out of your nostrils 639 and becomes 1961 loathsome 2214 to you; because 3282 3588 you have rejected 3988a the LORD 3068 who 834 is among 7130 you and have wept 1058 before 6440 Him, saying 559, “Why 4100 did we ever 2088 leave 3318 4480 Egypt 4714?”’”

 11:21 But Moses 4872 said 559, “The people 5971a, among 7130 whom 834 I am, are 600,000 8337a 3967 505 on foot 7273; yet You have said 559, ‘I will give 5414 them meat 1320, so that they may eat 398 for a whole 3117 month 2320.’

 11:22 “Should flocks 6629 and herds 1241 be slaughtered 7819 for them, to be sufficient 4672 for them? Or 518 should all 3605 the fish 1709 of the sea 3220 be gathered 622 together for them, to be sufficient 4672 for them?”

 11:23 The LORD 3068 said 559 to Moses 4872, “Is the LORD’S 3068 power 3027 limited 7114a? Now 6258 you shall see 7200 whether My word 1697 will come 7136a true 7136a for you or 518 not.”

 11:24 ¶ So Moses 4872 went 3318 out and told 1696 the people 5971a the words 1697 of the LORD 3068. Also, he gathered 622 seventy 7657 men 376 of the elders 2205 of the people 5971a, and stationed 5975 them around 5439 the tent 168.

 11:25 Then the LORD 3068 came 3381 down 3381 in the cloud 6051 and spoke 1696 to him; and He took 680 of the Spirit 7307 who 834 was upon him and placed 5414 [Him] upon the seventy 7657 elders 2205. And when the Spirit 7307 rested 5117 upon them, they prophesied 5012. But they did not do 3254 [it] again 3254.

 11:26 ¶ But two 8147 men 376 had remained 7604 in the camp 4264; the name 8034 of one 259 was Eldad 419 and the name 8034 of the other 8145 Medad 4312. And the Spirit 7307 rested 5117 upon them (now they were among those who had been registered 3789, but had not gone 3318 out to the tent 168), and they prophesied 5012 in the camp 4264.

 11:27 So a young 5288 man 5288 ran 7323 and told 5046 Moses 4872 and said 559, “Eldad 419 and Medad 4312 are prophesying 5012 in the camp 4264.”

 11:28 Then Joshua 3091 the son 1121 of Nun 5126, the attendant 8334 of Moses 4872 from his youth 979, said 559, “Moses 4872, my lord 113, restrain 3607 them.”

 11:29 But Moses 4872 said 559 to him, “Are you jealous 7065 for my sake? Would 4310 5414 that all 3605 the LORD’S 3068 people 5971a were prophets 5030, that the LORD 3068 would put 5414 His Spirit 7307 upon them!”

 11:30 Then Moses 4872 returned 622 to the camp 4264, [both] he and the elders 2205 of Israel 3478.

 11:31 ¶ Now there went 5265 forth 5265 a wind 7307 from the LORD 3068 and it brought 1468 quail 7958 from the sea 3220, and let [them] fall 5203 beside 5921 the camp 4264, about a day’s 3117 journey 1870 on this 3541 side 3541 and a day’s 3117 journey 1870 on the other 3541 side 3541, all 5439 around 5439 the camp 4264 and about two cubits 520 [deep] on the surface 6440 of the ground 776.

 11:32 The people 5971a spent 6965 all 3605 day 3117 and all 3605 night 3915 and all 3605 the next 4283 day 3117, and gathered 622 the quail 7958 (he who gathered least 4591 gathered 622 ten 6235 homers 2563c) and they spread 7849 [them] out for themselves all 5439 around 5439 the camp 4264.

 11:33 While the meat 1320 was still 5750 between 996 their teeth 8127, before 2962 it was chewed 3772, the anger 639 of the LORD 3068 was kindled 2734 against the people 5971a, and the LORD 3068 struck 5221 the people 5971a with a very 3966 severe 7227a plague 4347.

 11:34 So the name 8034 of that place 4725 was called 7121 Kibroth-hattaavah 6914, because 3588 there 8033 they buried 6912 the people 5971a who had been 183 greedy 183.

 11:35 From Kibroth-hattaavah 6914 the people 5971a set 5265 out for Hazeroth 2698, and they remained 1961 at Hazeroth 2698.
