1 God commandeth Moses to number the people. 5 The princes of the tribes. 17 The number of every tribe. 47 The Levites are exempted for the service of the LORD.

 1:1 Then the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to Moses 4872 in the wilderness 4057b of Sinai 5514, in the tent 168 of meeting 4150, on the first 259 of the second 8145 month, in the second 8145 year 8141 after they had come 3318 out of the land 776 of Egypt 4714, saying 559,

 1:2 “Take 5375 a census 7218 of all 3605 the congregation 5712 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478, by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, every 3605 male 2145, head 1538 by head 1538

 1:3 from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [is able to] go 3318 out to war 6635 in Israel 3478, you and Aaron 175 shall number 6485 them by their armies 6635.

 1:4 “With you, moreover, there shall be a man 376 of each 376 tribe 4294, each 376 one 376 head 7218 of his father’s 1 household 1004.

 1:5 “These 428 then are the names 8034 of the men 376 who 834 shall stand 5975 with you: of Reuben 7205, Elizur 468 the son 1121 of Shedeur 7707;

 1:6 of Simeon 8095, Shelumiel 8017 the son 1121 of Zurishaddai 6701a;

 1:7 of Judah 3063, Nahshon 5177 the son 1121 of Amminadab 5992;

 1:8 of Issachar 3485, Nethanel 5417 the son 1121 of Zuar 6686;

 1:9 of Zebulun 2074, Eliab 446 the son 1121 of Helon 2497;

 1:10 of the sons 1121 of Joseph 3130: of Ephraim 669, Elishama 476 the son 1121 of Ammihud 5989; of Manasseh 4519, Gamaliel 1583 the son 1121 of Pedahzur 6301;

 1:11 of Benjamin 1144, Abidan 27 the son 1121 of Gideoni 1441;

 1:12 of Dan 1835, Ahiezer 295 the son 1121 of Ammishaddai 5996;

 1:13 of Asher 836, Pagiel 6295 the son 1121 of Ochran 5918;

 1:14 of Gad 1410, Eliasaph 460 the son 1121 of Deuel 1845;

 1:15 of Naphtali 5321, Ahira 299 the son 1121 of Enan 5881.

 1:16 “These 428 are they who 7148 were called 7148 of the congregation 5712, the leaders 5387a of their fathers’ 1 tribes 4294; they were the heads 7218 of divisions 505 of Israel 3478.”

 1:17 ¶ So Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 took 3947 these 428 men 376 who 834 had been designated 5344a by name 8034,

 1:18 and they assembled 6950 all 3605 the congregation 5712 together on the first 259 of the second 8145 month 2320. Then they registered 3205 by ancestry 3205 in their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, head 1538 by head 1538,

 1:19 just 3512c as the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 Moses 4872. So he numbered 6485 them in the wilderness 4057b of Sinai 5514.

 1:20 ¶ Now the sons 1121 of Reuben 7205, Israel’s 3478 firstborn 1060, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, head 1538 by head 1538, every 3605 male 2145 from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:21 their numbered 6485 men of the tribe 4294 of Reuben 7205 [were] 46,500 8337a 705 505 2568 3967.

 1:22 ¶ Of the sons 1121 of Simeon 8095, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, their numbered 6485 men, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, head 1538 by head 1538, every 3605 male 2145 from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:23 their numbered 6485 men of the tribe 4294 of Simeon 8095 [were] 59,300 8672 2572 505 7969 3967.

 1:24 ¶ Of the sons 1121 of Gad 1410, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:26 ¶ Of the sons 1121 of Judah 3063, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:38 ¶ Of the sons 1121 of Dan 1835, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:39 their numbered 6485 men of the tribe 4294 of Dan 1835 [were] 62,700 8147 8346 505 7651 3967.

 1:40 ¶ Of the sons 1121 of Asher 836, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:41 their numbered 6485 men of the tribe 4294 of Asher 836 [were] 41,500 259 705 505 2568 3967.

 1:42 ¶ Of the sons 1121 of Naphtali 5321, their genealogical 8435 registration 8435 by their families 4940, by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, according to the number 4557 of names 8034, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635,

 1:43 their numbered 6485 men of the tribe 4294 of Naphtali 5321 [were] 53,400 7969 2572 505 702 3967.

 1:44 ¶ These 428 are the ones who were numbered 6485, whom 834 Moses 4872 and Aaron 175 numbered 6485, with the leaders 5387a of Israel 3478, twelve 8147 6240 men 376, each 376 of whom 259 was of his father’s 1 household 1004.

 1:45 So all 3605 the numbered 6485 men of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 by their fathers’ 1 households 1004, from twenty 6242 years 8141 old 1121 and upward 4605, whoever 3605 [was able to] go 3318 out to war 6635 in Israel 3478,

 1:46 even all 3605 the numbered 6485 men were 603,550 8337a 3967 505 7969 505 2568 3967 2572.

 1:47 ¶ The Levites 3881, however, were not numbered 6485 among 8432 them by their fathers’ 1 tribe 4294.

 1:48 For the LORD 3068 had spoken 1696 to Moses 4872, saying 559,

 1:49 “Only 389 the tribe 4294 of Levi 3878 you shall not number 6485, nor 3808 shall you take 5375 their census 7218 among 8432 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 1:50 “But you shall appoint 6485 the Levites 3881 over 5921 the tabernacle 4908 of the testimony 5715, and over 5921 all 3605 its furnishings 3627 and over 5921 all 3605 that belongs to it. They shall carry 5375 the tabernacle 4908 and all 3605 its furnishings 3627, and they shall take 8334 care 8334 of it; they shall also camp 2583 around 5439 the tabernacle 4908.

 1:51 “So when the tabernacle 4908 is to set 5265 out, the Levites 3881 shall take 3381 it down 3381; and when the tabernacle 4908 encamps 2583, the Levites 3881 shall set 6965 it up. But the layman 2114a who comes 7131 near 7131 shall be put 4191 to death 4191.

 1:52 “The sons 1121 of Israel 3478 shall camp 2583, each 376 man 376 by his own camp 4264, and each 376 man 376 by his own standard 1714, according to their armies 6635.

 1:53 “But the Levites 3881 shall camp 2583 around 5439 the tabernacle 4908 of the testimony 5715, so that there will be no 3808 wrath 7110a on the congregation 5712 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478. So the Levites 3881 shall keep 8104 charge 4931 of the tabernacle 4908 of the testimony 5715.”

 1:54 Thus the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 did 6213a; according to all 3605 which 834 the LORD 3068 had commanded 6680 Moses 4872, so 3651 they did 6213a.
