יִשׂרָאֵל°

by the way°
of the spies;°
then he fought°°
against
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and took°°
[some] of°
them prisoners.° |

21:1 ¶
And [when] king Arad the Kenaani, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Yisrael came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Yisrael, and took [some] of them prisoners. |
|
21:2
And
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
vowed°°
a vow°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and said,°°
If°
thou wilt indeed°°
deliver°°°
this°
people°
into my hand,°
then I will utterly destroy°°°
their cities.° |

And Yisrael vowed a vow unto Yahweh, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. |
|
21:3
And

to the voice°

יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and delivered up°°°
the
Cæna`ánîm
כְּנַעֲנִים;°
and they utterly destroyed°°
them and their cities:°
and he called°°
the name°
of the place°
Çormà
חָרמָה.° |

And Yahweh hearkened to the voice of Yisrael, and delivered up the Kenaanim; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Chormah. |

21:4 ¶
And they journeyed°°
from mount°

by the way°
of the
Sûf
סוּף°
sea,°
to compass°°°
the land°
of
´Éđôm
אֱדוֹם:°
and the soul°
of the people°
was much discouraged°°
because of the way.° |

And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Suf sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. |

And the people°
spake°°
against
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
and against
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
Wherefore°
have ye brought us up°°
out of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם°°
to die°°
in the wilderness?°
for°
[there is] no°
bread,°
neither°
[is there any] water;°
and our soul°
loatheth°°
this light°
bread.° |

21:5
And the people spake against Elohim, and against Mosheh, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Mitzrayim to die in the wilderness? for [there is] no bread, neither [is there any] water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. |
|
21:6
And

serpents°
among the people,°
and they bit°°°
the people;°

And Yahweh sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Yisrael died. |

21:7 ¶
Therefore the people°
came°°
to°
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
and said,°°
We have sinned,°°
for°
we have spoken°°
against
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and against thee; pray°°
unto°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
that he take away°°°
the serpents°
from°°
us. And
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה°
prayed°°
for°
the people.° |

21:7 ¶
Therefore the people came to Mosheh, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against Yahweh, and against thee; pray unto Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us. And Mosheh prayed for the people. |
|
21:8
And

Make°°
thee a fiery serpent,°
and set°°
it upon°
a pole:°
and it shall come to pass,°
that every one°
that is bitten,°°
when he looketh°°

And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. |

21:9
And

a serpent°
of brass,°
and put°°
it upon°
a pole,°
and it came to pass,°
that if°
a serpent°
had bitten°°°
any man,°
when he beheld°°°
the serpent°
of brass,°

And Mosheh made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. |

21:10 ¶
And the children°

set forward,°°
and pitched°°
in
´Övöŧ
אֹבֹת.° |

21:10 ¶
And the children of Yisrael set forward, and pitched in Ovoth. |

And they journeyed°°
from
´Övöŧ
אֹבֹת,°°
and pitched°°
at
`Iyyê `Ávärîm
עִיֵּי־עֲבָרִים,°
in the wilderness°
which°
[is] before°°
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,°
toward the sunrising.°°° |

And they journeyed from Ovoth, and pitched at Iyye-Avarim, in the wilderness which [is] before Moav, toward the sunrising. |
|
21:12 ¶
From thence°°
they removed,°°
and pitched°°
in the valley°
of
Zäređ
זָרֶד.° |

21:12 ¶
From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared. |
|
21:13
From thence°°
they removed,°°
and pitched°°
on the other side°°
of
´Arnôn
אַרנוֹן,°
which°
[is] in the wilderness°
that cometh out°°
of the coasts°°
of the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים:°
for°
´Arnôn
אַרנוֹן°
[is] the border°
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,°
between°
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב°
and the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים.° |

From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which [is] in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Emorim: for Arnon [is] the border of Moav, between Moav and the Emorim. |

Wherefore°°
it is said°°
in the book°
of the wars°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°°
What he did°
in the
Sûf
סוּף sea,°
and in the brooks°
of
´Arnôn
אַרנוֹן,° |

Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of Yahweh, What he did in the Suf sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, |

And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moav. |

[is] the well°
whereof°

unto
Möšè
מֹשֶׁה,°
Gather°°
the people°
together,°°°°
and I will give°°
them water.° |

And from thence [they went] to Beer: that [is] the well whereof Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. |
|
21:17 ¶
Then°

יִשׂרָאֵל°
sang°°°
this°
song,°
Spring up,°°
O well;°
sing°°
ye unto it: |

21:17 ¶
Then Yisrael sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it: |

The princes°

the well,°
the nobles°
of the people°
digged°°
it, by [the direction of] the lawgiver,°°
with their staves.°
And from the wilderness°°
[they went] to
Mattänà

The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by [the direction of] the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness [they went] to Mattanah: |

And from Bamoth [in] the valley, that [is] in the country of Moav, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Yeshimon. |

21:21 ¶
And

messengers°
unto°
Sîçôn
סִיחוֹן°
king°
of the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים,°
saying,°° |

21:21 ¶
And Yisrael sent messengers unto Sichon king of the Emorim, saying, |

Let me pass°°
through thy land:°
we will not°
turn°°
into the fields,°
or into the vineyards;°
we will not°
drink°°
[of] the waters°
of the well:°
[but] we will go along°°°
by the king's°
[high] way,°
until°°
we be past°°
thy borders.° |

Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink [of] the waters of the well: [but] we will go along by the king's [high] way, until we be past thy borders. |

And Sichon would not suffer Yisrael to pass through his border: but Sichon gathered all his people together, and went out against Yisrael into the wilderness: and he came to Yahatz, and fought against Yisrael. |

smote°°
him with the edge°
of the sword,°
and possessed°°°
his land°
from
´Arnôn
אַרנוֹן°°
unto°
Yabbök
יַבֹּק,°
even unto°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן:°
for°
the border°
of the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
[was] strong.° |

And Yisrael smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Yabboq, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon [was] strong. |

these°
cities:°
and
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
dwelt°°
in all°
the cities°
of the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים,°

חֶשׁבּוֹן,°
and in all°
the villages°
thereof. |

And Yisrael took all these cities: and Yisrael dwelt in all the cities of the Emorim, in Cheshbon, and in all the villages thereof. |

[was] the city°
of
Sîçôn
סִיחוֹן°
the king°
of the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים,°
who°
had fought°°
against the former°
king°
of
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב,°
and taken°°°
all°
his land°
out of his hand,°°
even unto°
´Arnôn
אַרנוֹן.° |

For Cheshbon [was] the city of Sichon the king of the Emorim, who had fought against the former king of Moav, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon. |

21:27
Wherefore°°
they that speak in proverbs°°
say,°°
Come°°
into
Çešbôn
חֶשׁבּוֹן,°
let the city°
of
Sîçôn
סִיחוֹן°
be built°°
and prepared:°° |

Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Cheshbon, let the city of Sichon be built and prepared: |

there is a fire°
gone out°°

חֶשׁבּוֹן,°°
a flame°
from the city°°

סִיחוֹן:°
it hath consumed°°
`Är
עָר°

מוֹאָב,°
[and] the lords°
of the high places°°

´Arnôn

For there is a fire gone out of Cheshbon, a flame from the city of Sichon: it hath consumed Ar of Moav, [and] the lords of the high places of Arnon. |

Woe°
to thee,
Mô´äv
מוֹאָב!°
thou art undone,°°
O people°
of
Cæmôš
כְּמוֹשׁ:°
he hath given°°
his sons°
that escaped,°
and his daughters,°
into captivity°°
unto
Sîçôn
סִיחוֹן°
king°
of the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים.° |

Woe to thee, Moav! thou art undone, O people of Kemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sichon king of the Emorim. |

We have shot°°
at them;

חֶשׁבּוֹן°
is perished°°
even unto°
Dîvôn
דִּיבוֹן,°
and we have laid them waste°°
even unto°
Nöfaç
נֹפַח,°
which°
[reacheth] unto°
Mêđvä´
מֵידבָא.° |

We have shot at them; Cheshbon is perished even unto Divon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nofach, which [reacheth] unto Medva. |

21:31 ¶
Thus

dwelt°°
in the land°
of the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים.° |

21:31 ¶
Thus Yisrael dwelt in the land of the Emorim. |

And

sent°°
to spy out°°°
Ya`zër
יַעזֵר,°
and they took°°
the villages°
thereof, and drove out°°°°°
the
´Émörîm
אֱמֹרִים°
that°
[were] there.° |

And Mosheh sent to spy out Yazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Emorim that [were] there. |

against°°
them, he,°

his people,°
to the battle°

And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. |

him into thy hand,°

And Yahweh said unto Mosheh, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sichon king of the Emorim, which dwelt at Cheshbon. |

So they smote°°
him, and his sons,°
and all°
his people,°
until°
there was none°
left°°
him alive:°
and they possessed°°°
his land.° |
