Now Qorach, the son of Yitzhar, the son of Qehath, the son of Lewi, and Dathan and Aviram, the sons of Eliav, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuven, took [men]: |

with certainºº
of the childrenºº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
two hundredº
and fiftyº
princesº
of the assembly,º
famousº
in the congregation,º
menºº
of renown:º |

And they rose up before Mosheh, with certain of the children of Yisrael, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: |

And they gathered themselves togetherºº
againstº

and againstº

אַהֲרֹן,º
and saidºº
untoº
them, [Ye take] too muchº
upon you, seeingº
allº
the congregationº
[are] holy,º
every oneº
of them, and

[is] amongº
them: whereforeº
then lift ye upºº
yourselvesº
aboveº
the congregationº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה?º |

And they gathered themselves together against Mosheh and against Aharon, and said unto them, [Ye take] too much upon you, seeing all the congregation [are] holy, every one of them, and Yahweh [is] among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of Yahweh? |

And when

And he spake unto Qorach and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow Yahweh will shew who [are] his, and [who is] holy; and will cause [him] to come near unto him: even [him] whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. |

you from the congregationºº

the serviceº
of the tabernacleº

יָהוֶה,º
and to standºº
beforeº
the congregationº
to ministerºº
unto them? |

[Seemeth it but] a small thing unto you, that the Elohim of Yisrael hath separated you from the congregation of Yisrael, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of Yahweh, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them? |
|
16:10
And he hath brought thee nearººº
[to him], and allº
thy brethrenº
the sonsº
of
Lëwî
לֵוִיº
withº
thee: and seekºº
ye the priesthoodº
also?º |

16:10
And he hath brought thee near [to him], and all thy brethren the sons of Lewi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also? |
|
16:11
For which causeº
[both] thouº
and allº
thy companyº
[are] gathered togetherºº
againstº

יָהוֶה:º
and whatº
[is]
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן,º
thatº
ye murmurºººº
againstº
him? |

16:11
For which cause [both] thou and all thy company [are] gathered together against Yahweh: and what [is] Aharon, that ye murmur against him? |
|
16:12 ¶
And

And Mosheh sent to call Dathan and Aviram, the sons of Eliav: which said, We will not come up: |

[Is it] a small thingº
thatº
thou hast brought us upºº
out of a landºº
that flowethºº
with milkº
and honey,º
to killºº
us in the wilderness,º
exceptº
thou makeºº
thyself altogetherºº
a princeººº
overº
us? |

16:13
[Is it] a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us? |
|
16:14
Moreoverº
thou hast notº
broughtºº
us intoº
a landº
that flowethºº
with milkº
and honey,º
or givenºº
us inheritanceº
of fieldsº
and vineyards:º
wilt thou put outºº
the eyesº
of theseº
men?ºº
we will notº

Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up. |

And Mosheh was very wroth, and said unto Yahweh, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them. |

And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Mosheh and Aharon. |

And Qorach gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of Yahweh appeared unto all the congregation. |

And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh and unto Aharon, saying, |

yourselvesº
from amongºº
thisº
congregation,º
that I may consumeºº
them in a moment.º |

Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. |
|
16:22
And they fellºº
uponº
their faces,º
and said,ºº
O
´Ël
אֵל,º
the
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
of the spiritsº
of allº
flesh,º
shall oneº
manº
sin,ºº
and wilt thou be wrothºº
withº
allº
the congregation?º |

And they fell upon their faces, and said, O El, the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? |

16:23 ¶
And

Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Qorach, Dathan, and Aviram. |

And Mosheh rose up and went unto Dathan and Aviram; and the elders of Yisrael followed him. |

And he spakeºº

the congregation,º
saying,ºº
Depart,ºº
I pray you,º
fromºº
the tentsº
of theseº
wickedº
men,ºº
and touchºº
nothingºº
of theirs, lestº
ye be consumedºº
in allº
their sins.º |

And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins. |

16:27
So they gat upºº

the tabernacleº

So they gat up from the tabernacle of Qorach, Dathan, and Aviram, on every side: and Dathan and Aviram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. |

And

Herebyº
ye shall knowºº

יָהוֶהº
hath sentºº
me to doººº

theseº
works;º
forº
[I have] notº
[done them] of mine own mind.ºº |

And Mosheh said, Hereby ye shall know that Yahweh hath sent me to do all these works; for [I have] not [done them] of mine own mind. |

16:29
Ifº
theseº
men dieºº
the common deathº
of allº
men,º
or if they be visitedºº
afterº
the visitationº
of allº
men;º
[then]
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath notº
sentºº
me. |
|
16:29
If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; [then] Yahweh hath not sent me. |
|
16:30
But ifº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
makeºº
a new thing,º
and the earthº
openººº
her mouth,º
and swallow them up,ººº
with allº
thatº
[appertain] unto them, and they go downºº
quickº
into the pit;º
then ye shall understandºº
thatº
theseº
menºº
have provokedººº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º |

16:30
But if Yahweh make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that [appertain] unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked Yahweh. |
|
16:31 ¶
And it came to pass,º
as he had made an endºº
of speakingººº
allº
theseº
words,º
that the groundº

They, and all that [appertained] to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. |

And there came out a fire from Yahweh, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. |

And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, saying, |

the censersº

the burning,º
and scatterºº
thou the fireº
yonder;º

they are hallowed.ºº |

Speak unto Elazar the son of Aharon the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed. |

sinnersº
against their own souls,º
let them makeººº

of the altar:º

they offeredºº
them beforeº

The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates [for] a covering of the altar: for they offered them before Yahweh, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Yisrael. |

[To be] a memorial unto the children of Yisrael, that no stranger, which [is] not of the seed of Aharon, come near to offer incense before Yahweh; that he be not as Qorach, and as his company: as Yahweh said to him by the hand of Mosheh. |

But on the morrowºº

the peopleº

But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Yisrael murmured against Mosheh and against Aharon, saying, Ye have killed the people of Yahweh. |

And it came to pass,º
when the congregationº
was gatheredºº
againstº

and againstº
´Ahárön
אַהֲרֹן,º
that they lookedºº
towardº
the tabernacleº
of the congregation:º
and, behold,º
the cloudº
coveredºº
it, and the gloryº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
appeared.ºº |

And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Mosheh and against Aharon, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of Yahweh appeared. |

And Mosheh and Aharon came before the tabernacle of the congregation. |

And Yahweh spake unto Mosheh, saying, |

congregation,º
that I may consumeºº
them as in a moment.º
And they fellºº
uponº
their faces.º |

Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces. |

And Mosheh said unto Aharon, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from Yahweh; the plague is begun. |

And Aharon took as Mosheh commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. |

And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. |

Now they that diedºº
in the plagueº

the matterº

Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Qorach. |
