Brenton's Septuagint (LXX) - Holy Name KJV
LXX < < 2 Kings{gr.Basileion D} 9 > > KJV
1 Elisha sendeth a young prophet with instructions to anoint Jehu at Ramoth-gilead. 4 The prophet having done his message fleeth. 11 Jehu, being made king by the soldiers, killeth Joram in the field of Naboth. 27 Ahaziah is slain at Gur, and buried at Jerusalem. 30 Proud Jezebel is thrown down out of a window, and eaten by dogs.
 9:1 ¶
And Elisha{gr.Elisaie} the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, Gird up thy loins, and take this cruse of oil in thy hand, and go to Ramoth{gr.Remmoth} Gilead{gr.Galaad}. |
|
 9:1 ¶
And Elishaº
the prophetº
calledºº
oneº
of the childrenºº
of the prophets,º
and saidºº
unto him, Gird upºº
thy loins,º
and takeºº
thisº
boxº
of oilº
in thine hand,º
and goººº
to Ramothgilead:ºº |
 9:2
And thou shalt enter there, and shalt see there Jehu{gr.Ju} the son of Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat} son of Namessi, and shalt go in and make him rise up from among his brethren, and shalt bring him into a secret chamber. |
|
 9:2
And when thou comestºº
thither,º
look outºº
thereº
Jehuº
the sonº
of Jehoshaphatº
the sonº
of Nimshi,º
and go in,ºº
and make him arise upºº
from amongºº
his brethren,º
and carryºº
him to an innerº
chamber;º |
 9:3
And thou shalt take the cruse of oil, and pour [it] on his head, and say thou, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel: and thou shalt open the door, and flee, and not tarry. |
|
 9:3
Then takeºº
the boxº
of oil,º
and pourºº
[it] onº
his head,º
and say,ºº
Thusº
saithºº
Yahweh,º
I have anointedºº
thee kingº
overº
Israel.º
Then openºº
the door,º
and flee,ºº
and tarryºº
not.º |
 9:4 ¶
And the young man the prophet went to Ramoth{gr.Remmoth} Gilead{gr.Galaad}. |
|
 9:4 ¶
So the young man,º
[even] the young manº
the prophet,º
wentººº
to Ramothgilead.ºº |
 9:5
And he went in, and, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have a message to thee, O captain. And Jehu{gr.Ju} said, To which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain. |
|
 9:5
And when he came,ºº
behold,º
the captainsº
of the hostº
[were] sitting;ºº
and he said,ºº
I have an errandº
toº
thee, O captain.º
And Jehuº
said,ºº
Untoº
whichº
of allºº
us? And he said,ºº
Toº
thee, O captain.º |
 9:6
And he arose, and went into the house: and he poured the oil upon his head, and said to him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee to be king over the people of the Lord, even over Israel. |
|
 9:6
And he arose,ºº
and wentºº
into the house;º
and he pouredºº
the oilº
onº
his head,º
and saidºº
unto him, Thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
Elohimº
of Israel,º
I have anointedºº
thee kingº
overº
the peopleº
of Yahweh,º
[even] overº
Israel.º |
 9:7
And thou shalt utterly destroy the house of Ahab{gr.Achaab} thy master from before me, and shalt avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, at the hand of Jezebel{gr.Jezabel}, |
|
 9:7
And thou shalt smiteººº
the houseº
of Ahabº
thy adon,º
that I may avengeºº
the bloodº
of my servantsº
the prophets,º
and the bloodº
of allº
the servantsº
of Yahweh,º
at the handºº
of Jezebel.º |
 9:8
and at the hand of the whole house of Ahab{gr.Achaab}: and thou shalt utterly cut off from the house of Ahab{gr.Achaab} every male, and him that is shut up and left in Israel. |
|
 9:8
For the wholeº
houseº
of Ahabº
shall perish:ºº
and I will cut offºº
from Ahabº
him that pissethºº
against the wall,º
and him that is shut upºº
and leftºº
in Israel:º |
 9:9
And I will make the house of Ahab{gr.Achaab} like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat{gr.Nabat}, and as the house of Baasha{gr.Baasa} the son of Ahijah{gr.Achia}. |
|
 9:9
And I will makeººº
the houseº
of Ahabº
like the houseº
of Jeroboamº
the sonº
of Nebat,º
and like the houseº
of Baashaº
the sonº
of Ahijah:º |
 9:10
And the dogs shall eat Jezebel{gr.Jezabel} in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled. |
|
 9:10
And the dogsº
shall eatºº
Jezebelº
in the portionº
of Jezreel,º
and [there shall be] noneº
to buryºº
[her]. And he openedºº
the door,º
and fled.ºº |
 9:11 ¶
And Jehu{gr.Ju} went forth to the servants of his lord, and they said to him, [Is] all well? Why came this mad fellow in to thee? And he said to them, Ye know the man, and his communication. |
|
 9:11 ¶
Then Jehuº
came forthºº
toº
the servantsº
of his adon:º
and [one] saidºº
unto him, [Is] all well?º
whereforeº
cameºº
thisº
madºº
[fellow] toº
thee? And he saidºº
untoº
them, Yeº
knowºº
the man,º
andº
his communication.º |
 9:12
And they said, [It is] wrong: tell us now. And Jehu{gr.Ju} said to them, Thus and thus spoke he to me, saying,-- and he said, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee to be king over Israel. |
|
 9:12
And they said,ºº
[It is] false;º
tellºº
us now.º
And he said,ºº
Thusº
and thusº
spakeºº
he toº
me, saying,ºº
Thusº
saithºº
Yahweh,º
I have anointedºº
thee kingº
overº
Israel.º |
 9:13
And when they heard it, they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with the trumpet, and said, Jehu{gr.Ju} is king. |
|
 9:13
Then they hasted,ºº
and tookºº
every manº
his garment,º
and putºº
[it] underº
him onº
the topº
of the stairs,º
and blewºº
with trumpets,º
saying,ºº
Jehuº
is king.ºº |
 9:14
So Jehu{gr.Ju} the son of Jehoshaphat{gr.Josaphat} the son of Namessi conspired against Joram, and Joram was defending Ramoth{gr.Remmoth} Gilead{gr.Galaad}, he and all Israel, because of Hazael{gr.Azael} king of Syria. |
|
 9:14
So Jehuº
the sonº
of Jehoshaphatº
the sonº
of Nimshiº
conspiredºº
againstº
Joram.º
(Now Joramº
hadº
keptºº
Ramothgilead,ºº
heº
and allº
Israel,º
becauseºº
of Hazaelº
kingº
of Syria.º |
 9:15
And king Joram had returned to be healed in Jezreel{gr.Jezrael} of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, in his war with Hazael{gr.Azael} king of Syria. And Jehu{gr.Ju} said, If your heart is with me, let there not go forth out of the city one fugitive to go and report to Jezreel{gr.Jezrael}. |
|
 9:15
But kingº
Joramº
was returnedºº
to be healedºº
in Jezreelº
ofº
the woundsº
whichº
the Syriansº
had givenºº
him, when he foughtºº
withº
Hazaelº
kingº
of Syria.)º
And Jehuº
said,ºº
Ifº
it beº
your minds,º
[then] let noneº
go forthºº
[nor] escapeº
out ofº
the cityº
to goººº
to tellºº
[it] in Jezreel.º |
 9:16
And Jehu{gr.Ju} rode and advanced, and came down to Jezreel{gr.Jezrael}; for Joram king of Israel was getting healed in Jezreel{gr.Jezrael} of the arrow-wounds wherewith the Syrians [had] wounded him in Rammath in the war with Hazael{gr.Azael} king of Syria; for he [was] strong and a mighty man: and Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias} king of Judah{gr.Juda} was come down to see Joram. |
|
 9:16
So Jehuº
rode in a chariot,ºº
and wentººº
to Jezreel;º
forº
Joramº
layºº
there.º
And Ahaziahº
kingº
of Judahº
was come downºº
to seeººº
Joram.º |
 9:17
And there went up a watchman upon the tower of Jezreel{gr.Jezrael}, and saw the dust [made by] Jehu{gr.Ju} as he approached; and he said, I see dust. And Joram said, Take a horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Peace. |
|
 9:17
And there stoodºº
a watchmanºº
onº
the towerº
in Jezreel,º
and he spiedººº
the companyº
of Jehuº
as he came,ºº
and said,ºº
Iº
seeºº
a company.º
And Joramº
said,ºº
Takeºº
an horseman,º
and sendºº
to meetººº
them, and let him say,ºº
[Is it] peace?º |
 9:18
And there went a horseman to meet them, and said, Thus says the king, Peace. And Jehu{gr.Ju} said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn behind me. And the watchman reported, saying, The messenger came up to them, and has not returned. |
|
 9:18
So there wentººº
one on horsebackººº
to meetººº
him, and said,ºº
Thusº
saithºº
the king,º
[Is it] peace?º
And Jehuº
said,ºº
Whatº
hast thou to do with peace?º
turnºº
thee behindºº
me. And the watchmanºº
told,ºº
saying,ºº
The messengerº
cameºº
toº
them,º
but he cometh not again.ººº |
 9:19
And he sent another horseman, and he came to him, and said, Thus says the king, Peace. And Jehu{gr.Ju} said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn behind me. |
|
 9:19
Then he sent outºº
a secondº
on horseback,ººº
which cameºº
toº
them, and said,ºº
Thusº
saithºº
the king,º
[Is it] peace?º
And Jehuº
answered,ºº
Whatº
hast thou to do with peace?º
turnºº
thee behindºº
me. |
 9:20
And the watchman reported, saying, He came up to them, and has not returned: and the driver drives Jehu{gr.Ju} the son of Namessi, for it is with furious [haste]. |
|
 9:20
And the watchmanºº
told,ºº
saying,ºº
He cameºº
evenº
untoº
them, and cometh not again:ººº
and the drivingº
[is] like the drivingº
of Jehuº
the sonº
of Nimshi;º
forº
he drivethºº
furiously.º |
 9:21
And Joram said, Make ready. And one made ready the chariot: and Joram the king of Israel went forth, and Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias} king of Judah{gr.Juda}, each in his chariot, and they went to meet Jehu{gr.Ju}, and found him in the portion of Naboth{gr.Nabuthai} the Jezreelite{gr.Jezraelite}. |
|
 9:21
And Joramº
said,ºº
Make ready.ºº
And his chariotº
was made ready.ºº
And Joramº
kingº
of Israelº
and Ahaziahº
kingº
of Judahº
went out,ºº
eachº
in his chariot,º
and they went outºº
againstººº
Jehu,º
and metºº
him in the portionº
of Nabothº
the Jezreelite.º |
 9:22
And it came to pass when Joram saw Jehu{gr.Ju}, that he said, [Is it] peace, Jehu{gr.Ju}? And Jehu{gr.Ju} said, How [can it be] peace? as yet [there are] the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel{gr.Jezabel}, and her abundant witchcrafts. |
|
 9:22
And it came to pass,º
when Joramº
sawººº
Jehu,º
that he said,ºº
[Is it] peace,º
Jehu?º
And he answered,ºº
Whatº
peace,º
so long asº
the whoredomsº
of thy motherº
Jezebelº
and her witchcraftsº
[are so] many?º |
 9:23
And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias}, Treachery, Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias}. |
|
 9:23
And Joramº
turnedºº
his hands,º
and fled,ºº
and saidºº
toº
Ahaziah,º
[There is] treachery,º
O Ahaziah.º |
 9:24
And Jehu{gr.Ju} bent his bow with his full strength, and smote Joram between his arms, and his arrow went out at his heart, and he bowed upon his knees. |
|
 9:24
And Jehuº
drew a bowº
with his fullºº
strength,º
and smoteººº
Jehoramº
betweenº
his arms,º
and the arrowº
went outºº
at his heart,ºº
and he sunk downºº
in his chariot.º |
 9:25
And [Jehu{gr.Ju}] said to Badecar his chief officer, Cast him into the portion of ground of Naboth{gr.Nabuthai} the Jezreelite{gr.Jezraelite}, for I and thou remember, riding [as we were] on chariots after Ahab{gr.Achaab} his father, that the Lord took up this burden against him, [saying], |
|
 9:25
Then saidºº
[Jehu] toº
Bidkarº
his captain,º
Take up,ºº
[and] castºº
him in the portionº
of the fieldº
of Nabothº
the Jezreelite:º
forº
rememberºº
how that, when Iº
and thouºº
rodeºº
togetherº
afterº
Ahabº
his father,º
Yahwehº
laidººº
thisº
burdenº
uponº
him; |
 9:26
Surely, I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth{gr.Nabuthai}, and the blood of his sons, saith the Lord; and I will recompense him in this portion, saith the Lord. Now then, I pray thee, take him up and cast him into the portion, according to the word of the Lord. |
|
 9:26
Surelyºº
I have seenºº
yesterdayºº
the bloodº
of Naboth,º
and the bloodº
of his sons,º
saithºº
Yahweh;º
and I will requiteºº
thee in thisº
plat,º
saithºº
Yahweh.º
Nowº
therefore takeºº
[and] castºº
him into the platº
[of ground], according to the wordº
of Yahweh.º |
 9:27 ¶
And Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias} king of Judah{gr.Juda} saw [it], and fled by the way of Baethgan. And Jehu{gr.Ju} pursued after him, and said, [Slay] him also. And one smote him in the chariot at the going up of Ai{gr.Gai}, which is Jeblaam: and he fled to Megiddo{gr.Mageddo}, and died there. |
|
 9:27 ¶
But when Ahaziahº
the kingº
of Judahº
sawºº
[this], he fledºº
by the wayº
of the gardenº
house.º
And Jehuº
followedºº
afterº
him, and said,ºº
Smiteºº
him alsoº
inº
the chariot.º
[And they did so] at the going upº
to Gur,º
whichº
[is] byº
Ibleam.º
And he fledºº
to Megiddo,º
and diedºº
there.º |
 9:28
And his servants put him on a chariot, and brought him to Jerusalem, and they buried him in his sepulchre in the city of David. |
|
 9:28
And his servantsº
carriedºº
him in a chariotºº
to Jerusalem,º
and buriedºº
him in his sepulchreº
withº
his fathersº
in the cityº
of David.º |
 9:29
And in the eleventh year of Joram king of Israel, Ahaziah{gr.Ochozias} began to reign over Judah{gr.Juda}. |
|
 9:29
And in the eleventhººº
yearº
of Joramº
the sonº
of Ahabº
began Ahaziahº
to reignºº
overº
Judah.º |
 9:30 ¶
And Jehu{gr.Ju} came to Jezreel{gr.Jezrael}; and Jezebel{gr.Jezabel} heard [of it], and coloured her eyes, and adorned her head, and looked through the window. |
|
 9:30 ¶
And when Jehuº
was comeºº
to Jezreel,º
Jezebelº
heardºº
[of it]; and she paintedººº
her face,º
and tiredººº
her head,º
and looked outºº
atº
a window.º |
 9:31
And Jehu{gr.Ju} entered into the city; and she said, Had Zimri{gr.Zambri}, the murderer of his master, peace? |
|
 9:31
And as Jehuº
entered inºº
at the gate,º
she said,ºº
[Had] Zimriº
peace,º
who slewºº
his adon?º |
 9:32
And he lifted up his face toward the window, and saw her, and said, Who art thou? Come down with me. And two eunuchs looked down towards him. |
|
 9:32
And he lifted upºº
his faceº
toº
the window,º
and said,ºº
Whoº
[is] on my side?º
who?º
And there looked outºº
toº
him twoº
[or] threeº
eunuchs.º |
 9:33
And he said, Throw her [down]. And they threw her [down]; and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and they trampled on her. |
|
 9:33
And he said,ºº
Throw her down.ºº
So they threw her down:ºº
and [some] of her bloodºº
was sprinkledºº
onº
the wall,º
and onº
the horses:º
and he trode her under foot.ºº |
 9:34
And [Jehu{gr.Ju}] went in and ate and drank, and said, Look now, after this cursed woman, and bury her, for she is a king's daughter. |
|
 9:34
And when he was come in,ºº
he did eatºº
and drink,ºº
and said,ºº
Go,ºº
seeº
nowºº
thisº
cursedºº
[woman], and buryºº
her: forº
sheº
[is] a king'sº
daughter.º |
 9:35
And they went to bury her; but they found nothing of her but the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. |
|
 9:35
And they wentººº
to buryºº
her: but they foundºº
no moreº
of her thanºº
the skull,º
and the feet,º
and the palmsº
of [her] hands.º |
 9:36
And they returned and told him. And he said, [It is] the word of the Lord, which he spoke by the hand of Elijah{gr.Eliu} the Tishbite{gr.Thesbite}, saying, In the portion of Jezreel{gr.Jezrael} shall the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel{gr.Jezabel}. |
|
 9:36
Wherefore they came again,ºº
and toldºº
him. And he said,ºº
Thisº
[is] the wordº
of Yahweh,º
whichº
he spakeºº
byº
his servantº
Elijahº
the Tishbite,º
saying,ºº
In the portionº
of Jezreelº
shall dogsº
eatººº
the fleshº
of Jezebel:º |
 9:37
And the carcass of Jezebel{gr.Jezabel} shall be as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel{gr.Jezrael}, so that they shall not say, [This is] Jezebel{gr.Jezabel}. |
|
 9:37
And the carcaseº
of Jezebelº
shall beº
as dungº
uponº
the faceº
of the fieldº
in the portionº
of Jezreel;º
[so] thatº
they shall notº
say,ºº
Thisº
[is] Jezebel.º |
