Brenton's Septuagint (LXX) - Holy Name KJV
LXX < < 2 Kings{gr.Basileion D} 7 > > KJV
1 Elisha prophesieth incredible plenty in Samaria. 3 Four lepers, venturing on the host of the Syrians, bring tidings of their flight. 12 The king, finding by spies the news to be true, spoileth the tents of the Syrians. 17 The lord, who would not believe the prophecy of plenty, having charge of the gate, is trodden to death in the press.
7:1 ¶
And Elisha{gr.Elisaie} said, Hear thou the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, As at this time, to-morrow a measure of fine flour [shall be sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gates of Samaria. |
|
7:1 ¶
Then Elisha°
said,°°
Hear°°
ye the word°
of Yahweh;°
Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh,°
To morrow°
about this time°
[shall] a measure°
of fine flour°
[be sold] for a shekel,°
and two measures°
of barley°
for a shekel,°
in the gate°
of Samaria.° |
7:2
And the officer on whose hand the king rested, answered Elisha{gr.Elisaie}, and said, Behold, [if] the Lord shall make flood-gates in heaven, might this thing be? and Elisha{gr.Elisaie} said, Behold, thou shalt see with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. |
|
7:2
Then a lord°
on°
whose°
hand°
the king°
leaned°°
answered°°°
the man°
of Elohim,°
and said,°°
Behold,°
[if] Yahweh°
would make°°
windows°
in heaven,°
might this°
thing°
be?°
And he said,°°
Behold,°
thou shalt see°°
[it] with thine eyes,°
but shalt not°
eat°°
thereof.°° |
7:3 ¶
And there were four leprous men by the gate of the city: and one said to his neighbour, Why sit we here until we die? |
|
7:3 ¶
And there were°
four°
leprous°°
men°°
at the entering in°
of the gate:°
and they said°°
one°
to°
another,°
Why°
sit°°
we°
here°
until°
we die?°° |
7:4
If we should say, Let us go into the city, then [there is] famine in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit here, then we shall die. Now then come, and let us fall upon the camp of the Syrians: if they should take us alive, then we shall live; and if they should put us to death, then we shall [only] die. |
|
7:4
If°
we say,°°
We will enter°°
into the city,°
then the famine°
[is] in the city,°
and we shall die°°
there:°
and if°
we sit°
still°°
here,°
we die°°
also. Now°
therefore come,°°°
and let us fall°°
unto°
the host°
of the Syrians:°
if°
they save us alive,°°
we shall live;°°
and if°
they kill°°
us, we shall but die.°° |
7:5
And they rose up while it was yet night, to go into the camp of Syria; and they came into a part of the camp of Syria, and behold, there [was] no man there. |
|
7:5
And they rose up°°
in the twilight,°
to go°°
unto°
the camp°
of the Syrians:°
and when they were come°°
to°
the uttermost part°
of the camp°
of Syria,°
behold,°
[there was] no°
man°
there.° |
7:6
For the Lord had made the army of Syria to hear a sound of chariots, and a sound of horses, [even] the sound of a great host: and [each] man said to his fellow, Now has the king of Israel hired against us the kings of the Hittites{gr.Chettites}, and the kings of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, to come against us. |
|
7:6
For Yahweh°
had made°
the host°
of the Syrians°
to hear°°
a noise°
of chariots,°
and a noise°
of horses,°
[even] the noise°
of a great°
host:°
and they said°°
one°
to°
another,°
Lo,°
the king°
of Israel°
hath hired°°
against°
us°
the kings°
of the Hittites,°
and the kings°
of the Egyptians,°
to come°°
upon°
us. |
7:7
And they arose and fled while it was yet dark, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses in the camp, as they were, and fled for their lives. |
|
7:7
Wherefore they arose°°
and fled°°
in the twilight,°
and left°°°
their tents,°
and their horses,°
and their asses,°
even the camp°
as°
it°
[was], and fled°°
for°
their life.° |
7:8
And these lepers entered a little way into the camp, and went into one tent, and ate and drank, and took thence silver, and gold, and raiment; and they went and returned thence, and entered into another tent, and took thence, and went and hid [the spoil]. |
|
7:8
And when these°
lepers°°
came°°
to°
the uttermost part°
of the camp,°
they went°°
into°
one°
tent,°
and did eat°°
and drink,°°
and carried°°
thence°°
silver,°
and gold,°
and raiment,°
and went°°°
and hid°°
[it]; and came again,°°
and entered°°
into°
another°
tent,°
and carried°°
thence°°
[also], and went°°°
and hid°°
[it]. |
7:9
And [one] man said to his neighbour, We are not doing [well] thus: this day is a day of glad tidings, and we hold our peace, and are waiting till the morning light, and shall find mischief: now them come, and let us go into [the city], and report to the house of the king. |
|
7:9
Then they said°°
one°
to°
another,°
We°
do°°
not°
well:°
this°
day°
[is] a day°
of good tidings,°
and we°
hold our peace:°°
if we tarry°°
till°
the morning°
light,°
some mischief°
will come°°
upon°
us: now°
therefore come,°°°
that we may go°°
and tell°°
the king's°
household.° |
7:10
So they went and cried toward the gate of the city, and reported to them, saying, We went into the camp of Syria, and, behold, there is not there a man, nor voice of man, only horses tied and asses, and their tents as they were. |
|
7:10
So they came°°
and called°°
unto°
the porter°
of the city:°
and they told°°
them, saying,°°
We came°°
to°
the camp°
of the Syrians,°
and, behold,°
[there was] no°
man°
there,°
neither voice°
of man,°
but°°
horses°
tied,°°
and asses°
tied,°°
and the tents°
as°
they°
[were]. |
7:11
And the porters cried aloud, and reported to the house of the king within. |
|
7:11
And he called°°
the porters;°
and they told°°
[it] to the king's°
house°
within.° |
7:12 ¶
And the king rose up by night, and said to his servants, I will now tell you what the Syrians have done to us. They knew that we are hungry; and they have gone forth from the camp and hidden themselves in the field, saying, They will come out of the city, and we shall catch them alive, and go into the city. |
|
7:12 ¶
And the king°
arose°°
in the night,°
and said°°
unto°
his servants,°
I will now°
shew°°
you°
what°
the Syrians°
have done°°
to us. They know°°
that°
we°
[be] hungry;°
therefore are they gone out°°
of°
the camp°
to hide°°
themselves°
in the field,°
saying,°°
When°
they come out°°
of°
the city,°
we shall catch°°
them alive,°
and get°°
into°
the city.° |
7:13
And one of his servants answered and said, Let them now take five of the horses that were left, which were left here; behold, they are the number left to all the multitude of Israel; and we will send thither and see. |
|
7:13
And one°
of his servants°°
answered°°
and said,°°
Let [some] take,°°
I pray thee,°
five°
of°
the horses°
that remain,°°
which°
are left°°
in the city, (behold,°
they [are] as all°
the multitude°
of Israel°
that°
are left°°
in it: behold,°
[I say], they [are] even as all°
the multitude°
of the Israelites°
that°
are consumed:)°°
and let us send°°
and see.°° |
7:14
So they took two horsemen; and the king of Israel sent after the king of Syria, saying, Go, and see. |
|
7:14
They took°°
therefore two°
chariot°
horses;°
and the king°
sent°°
after°
the host°
of the Syrians,°
saying,°°
Go°°°
and see.°° |
7:15
And they went after them even to Jordan: and, behold, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their panic. and the messengers returned, and brought word to the king. |
|
7:15
And they went°°°
after°
them unto°
Jordan:°
and, lo,°
all°
the way°
[was] full°
of garments°
and vessels,°
which°
the Syrians°
had cast away°°
in their haste.°°
And the messengers°
returned,°°
and told°°
the king.° |
7:16
And the people went out, and plundered the camp of Syria: and a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord, and two measures of barley for a shekel. |
|
7:16
And the people°
went out,°°
and spoiled°°°
the tents°
of the Syrians.°
So a measure°
of fine flour°
was°
[sold] for a shekel,°
and two measures°
of barley°
for a shekel,°
according to the word°
of Yahweh.° |
7:17 ¶
And the king appointed the officer on whose hand the king leaned [to have charge] over the gate: and the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God [had] said, who spoke when the messenger came down to him. |
|
7:17 ¶
And the king°
appointed°°°
the lord°
on°
whose°
hand°
he leaned°°
to have the charge of°
the gate:°
and the people°
trode°°
upon°
him in the gate,°
and he died,°°
as°
the man°
of Elohim°
had said,°°
who°
spake°°
when the king°
came down°°
to°
him. |
7:18
So it came to pass as Elisha{gr.Elisaie} had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley [shall be sold] for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel; and it shall be as at this time to-morrow in the gate of Samaria. |
|
7:18
And it came to pass°
as the man°
of Elohim°
had spoken°°
to°
the king,°
saying,°°
Two measures°
of barley°
for a shekel,°
and a measure°
of fine flour°
for a shekel,°
shall be°
to morrow°
about this time°
in the gate°
of Samaria:° |
7:19
And the officer answered Elisha{gr.Elisaie}, and said, Behold, [if] the Lord makes flood-gates in heaven, shall this thing be? and Elisha{gr.Elisaie} said, Behold, thou shalt see [it] with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eat thereof. |
|
7:19
And that lord°
answered°°°
the man°
of Elohim,°
and said,°°
Now, behold,°
[if] Yahweh°
should make°°
windows°
in heaven,°
might such°
a thing°
be?°
And he said,°°
Behold,°
thou shalt see°°
it with thine eyes,°
but shalt not°
eat°°
thereof.°° |
7:20
And it was so: for the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died. |
|
7:20
And so°
it fell out°
unto him: for the people°
trode°°
upon°
him in the gate,°
and he died.°° |
