 8:1 ¶
And Jehovah said unto me, Take thee a great tablet, and write upon it with the pen of a man, For Maher-shalal-hash-baz; |
|
 8:1 ¶
Moreover the LORDº
saidºº
untoº
me, Takeºº
thee a greatº
roll,º
and writeºº
inº
it with a man'sº
penº
concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.º |
 8:2
and I will take unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. |
|
 8:2
And I tookºº
unto me faithfulºº
witnessesº
to record,ººº
Uriahº
the priest,º
and Zechariahº
the sonº
of Jeberechiah.º |
 8:3
And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said Jehovah unto me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz. |
|
 8:3
And I wentºº
untoº
the prophetess;º
and she conceived,ºº
and bareºº
a son.º
Then saidºº
the LORDº
toº
me, Callºº
his nameº
Mahershalalhashbaz.º |
 8:4
For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria. |
|
 8:4
Forº
beforeº
the childº
shall have knowledgeºº
to cry,ºº
My father,º
and my mother,ºº
the richesº
of Damascusº
and the spoilº
of Samariaº
shall be taken awayºº
beforeº
the kingº
of Assyria.º |
 8:5 ¶
And Jehovah spake unto me yet again, saying, |
|
 8:5 ¶
The LORDº
spakeºº
also untoº
me again,ºº
saying,ºº |
 8:6
Forasmuch as this people have refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son; |
|
 8:6
Forasmuchºº
as thisº
peopleº
refusethººº
the watersº
of Shiloahº
that goºº
softly,º
and rejoiceº
inºº
Rezinº
and Remaliah'sº
son;º |
 8:7
now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the River, strong and many, [even] the king of Assyria and all his glory: and it shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks; |
|
 8:7
Now therefore,º
behold,º
the Lordº
bringeth upºº
uponº
themº
the watersº
of the river,º
strongº
and many,º
[even]º
the kingº
of Assyria,º
and allº
his glory:º
and he shall come upºº
overº
allº
his channels,º
and goº
overººº
allº
his banks:º |
 8:8
and it shall sweep onward into Judah; it shall overflow and pass through; it shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of its wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel. |
|
 8:8
And he shall passºº
through Judah;º
he shall overflowºº
and go over,ºº
he shall reachºº
[even] toº
the neck;º
and the stretching outº
of his wingsº
shall fillº
the breadthº
of thy land,º
O Immanuel.ºº |
 8:9 ¶
Make an uproar, O ye peoples, and be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces. |
|
 8:9 ¶
Associateºº
yourselves, O ye people,º
and ye shall be brokenº
in pieces;ºº
and give ear,ºº
allº
ye of farº
countries:º
girdºº
yourselves,º
and ye shall be brokenº
in pieces;ºº
girdºº
yourselves,º
and ye shall be brokenº
in pieces.ºº |
 8:10
Take counsel together, and it shall be brought to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us. |
|
 8:10
Takeºº
counselº
together,ººº
and it shall come to nought;ºº
speakºº
the word,º
and it shall notº
stand:ºº
forº
Godº
[is] with us.º |
 8:11 ¶
For Jehovah spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, |
|
 8:11 ¶
Forº
the LORDº
spakeºº
thusº
toº
me with a strongº
hand,º
and instructedºº
me that I should not walkºººº
in the wayº
of thisº
people,º
saying,ºº |
 8:12
Say ye not, A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people shall say, A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be in dread [thereof]. |
|
 8:12
Sayºº
ye not,º
A confederacy,º
to allº
[them to] whomº
thisº
peopleº
shall say,ºº
A confederacy;º
neitherº
fearºº
ye their fear,º
norº
be afraid.ºº |
 8:13
Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. |
|
 8:13
Sanctifyººº
the LORDº
of hostsº
himself; and [let] himº
[be] your fear,º
and [let] himº
[be] your dread.ºº |
 8:14
And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
|
 8:14
And he shall beº
for a sanctuary;º
but for a stoneº
of stumblingº
and for a rockº
of offenceº
to bothº
the housesº
of Israel,º
for a ginº
and for a snareº
to the inhabitantsºº
of Jerusalem.º |
 8:15
And many shall stumble thereon, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. |
|
 8:15
And manyº
among them shall stumble,ºº
and fall,ºº
and be broken,ºº
and be snared,ºº
and be taken.ºº |
 8:16
Bind thou up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. |
|
 8:16
Bind upºº
the testimony,º
sealºº
the lawº
among my disciples.º |
 8:17
And I will wait for Jehovah, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. |
|
 8:17
And I will waitºº
upon the LORD,º
that hidethºº
his faceº
from the houseºº
of Jacob,º
and I will lookºº
for him. |
 8:18
Behold, I and the children whom Jehovah hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from Jehovah of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion. |
|
 8:18
Behold,º
Iº
and the childrenº
whomº
the LORDº
hath givenºº
me [are] for signsº
and for wondersº
in Israelº
fromºº
the LORDº
of hosts,º
which dwellethºº
in mountº
Zion.º |
 8:19 ¶
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? on behalf of the living [should they seek] unto the dead? |
|
 8:19 ¶
And whenº
they shall sayºº
untoº
you, Seekºº
untoº
them that have familiar spirits,º
and untoº
wizardsº
that peep,ºº
and that mutter:ºº
should notº
a peopleº
seekºº
untoº
their God?º
forº
the livingº
toº
the dead?ºº |
 8:20
To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. |
|
 8:20
To the lawº
and to the testimony:º
ifº
they speakºº
notº
according to thisº
word,º
[it is] becauseº
[there is] noº
lightº
in them. |
 8:21
And they shall pass through it, sore distressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass that, when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse by their king and by their God, and turn their faces upward: |
|
 8:21
And they shall passºº
through it, hardly besteadºº
and hungry:ºº
and it shall come to pass,º
that whenº
they shall be hungry,ºº
they shall fretºº
themselves,º
and curseºº
their kingº
and their God,º
and lookºº
upward.º |
 8:22
and they shall look unto the earth, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and into thick darkness [they shall be] driven away. |
|
 8:22
And they shall lookºº
untoº
the earth;º
and beholdº
troubleº
and darkness,º
dimnessº
of anguish;º
and [they shall be] drivenºº
to darkness.º |
