 44:1 ¶ Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant, and Israel, who I have chosen:

 44:1 ¶ Yet nowº hear,ºº O Jacobº my servant;º and Israel,º whom I have chosen:ºº

 44:2 Thus saith Jehovah that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee: Fear not, O Jacob my servant; and thou, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

 44:2 Thusº saithºº the LORDº that madeºº thee, and formedºº thee from the womb,ºº [which] will helpºº thee; Fearºº not,º O Jacob,º my servant;º and thou, Jesurun,º whom I have chosen.ºº

 44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and streams upon the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

 44:3 Forº I will pourºº waterº uponº him that is thirsty,º and floodsºº uponº the dry ground:º I will pourºº my spiritº uponº thy seed,º and my blessingº uponº thine offspring:º

 44:4 and they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses.

 44:4 And they shall spring upºº [as] amongº the grass,º as willowsº byº the waterº courses.º

 44:5 One shall say, I am Jehovah's; and another shall call [himself] by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto Jehovah, and surname [himself] by the name of Israel.

 44:5 Oneº shall say,ºº Iº [am] the LORD'S;º and anotherº shall callºº [himself] by the nameº of Jacob;º and anotherº shall subscribeºº [with] his handº unto the LORD,º and surnameºº [himself] by the nameº of Israel.º

 44:6 Thus saith Jehovah, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Jehovah of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God.

 44:6 Thusº saithºº the LORDº the Kingº of Israel,º and his redeemerºº the LORDº of hosts;º Iº [am] the first,º and Iº [am] the last;º and besideºº me [there is] noº God.º

 44:7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I established the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and that shall come to pass, let them declare.

 44:7 And who,º as I, shall call,ºº and shall declareºº it, and set it in orderºº for me, since I appointedººº the ancientº people?º and the things that are coming,ºº and shall come,ºº let them shewºº unto them.

 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have I not declared unto thee of old, and showed it? and ye are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? yea, there is no Rock; I know not any.

 44:8 Fearºº ye not,º neitherº be afraid:ºººº have notº I toldºº thee from that time,ºº and have declaredºº [it]? yeº [are] even my witnesses.º Is thereº a Godº besideºº me? yea, [there is] noº God;º I knowºº notº [any].

 44:9 ¶ They that fashion a graven image are all of them vanity; and the things that they delight in shall not profit; and their own witnesses see not, nor know: that they may be put to shame.

 44:9 ¶ They that makeºº a graven imageº [are] allº of them vanity;º and their delectable thingsºº shall notº profit;ºº and theyº [are] their own witnesses;º they seeºº not,º norº know;ºº thatº they may be ashamed.ºº

 44:10 Who hath fashioned a god, or molten an image that is profitable for nothing?

 44:10 Whoº hath formedºº a god,º or moltenºº a graven imageº [that] is profitableºº for nothing?º

 44:11 Behold, all his fellows shall be put to shame; and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; they shall fear, they shall be put to shame together.

 44:11 Behold,º allº his fellowsº shall be ashamed:ºº and the workmen,º theyº [are] of men:ºº let them allº be gathered together,ºº let them stand up;ºº [yet] they shall fear,ºº [and] they shall be ashamedºº together.º

 44:12 The smith [maketh] an axe, and worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with his strong arm: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth; he drinketh no water, and is faint.

 44:12 The smithºº with the tongsº both workethºº in the coals,º and fashionethºº it with hammers,º and workethºº it with the strengthº of his arms:º yea,º he is hungry,ºº and his strengthº faileth:º he drinkethºº noº water,º and is faint.ºº

 44:13 The carpenter stretcheth out a line; he marketh it out with a pencil; he shapeth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compasses, and shapeth it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house.

 44:13 The carpenterºº stretcheth outºº [his] rule;º he marketh it outºº with a line;º he fittethºº it with planes,º and he marketh it outºº with the compass,º and makethºº it after the figureº of a man,º according to the beautyº of a man;º that it may remainºº in the house.º

 44:14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the holm-tree and the oak, and strengtheneth for himself one among the trees of the forest: he planteth a fir-tree, and the rain doth nourish it.

 44:14 He heweth him downºº cedars,º and takethºº the cypressº and the oak,º which he strengthenethºº for himself among the treesº of the forest:º he plantethºº an ash,º and the rainº doth nourishºº [it].

 44:15 Then shall it be for a man to burn; and he taketh thereof, and warmeth himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread: yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

 44:15 Then shall it beº for a manº to burn:ºº for he will takeºº thereof,º and warmºº himself; yea,º he kindlethºº [it], and bakethºº bread;º yea,º he makethºº a god,º and worshippethºº [it]; he makethºº it a graven image,º and falleth downºº thereto.

 44:16 He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied; yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire.

 44:16 He burnethºº partº thereof inº the fire;º withº partº thereof he eatethºº flesh;º he roastethºº roast,º and is satisfied:ºº yea,º he warmethºº [himself], and saith,ºº Aha,º I am warm,ºº I have seenºº the fire:º

 44:17 And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image; he falleth down unto it and worshippeth, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

 44:17 And the residueº thereof he makethºº a god,º [even] his graven image:º he falleth downºº unto it, and worshippethºº [it], and prayethºº untoº it, and saith,ºº Deliverºº me; forº thouº [art] my god.º

 44:18 They know not, neither do they consider: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

 44:18 They have notº knownºº norº understood:ºº forº he hath shutºº their eyes,º that they cannot see;ººº [and] their hearts,ºº that they cannot understand.ººº

 44:19 And none calleth to mind, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

 44:19 And noneº considerethºº inº his heart,º neitherº [is there] knowledgeº norº understandingº to say,ºº I have burnedºº partº of it inº the fire;º yea,º also I have bakedºº breadº uponº the coalsº thereof; I have roastedºº flesh,º and eatenºº [it]: and shall I makeºº the residueº thereof an abomination?º shall I fall downºº to the stockº of a tree?º

 44:20 He feedeth on ashes; a deceived heart hath turned him aside; and he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

 44:20 He feedethºº on ashes:º a deceivedºº heartº hath turned him aside,ºº that he cannotº deliverººº his soul,º norº say,ºº [Is there] notº a lieº in my right hand?º

 44:21 ¶ Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

 44:21 ¶ Rememberºº these,º O Jacobº and Israel;º forº thouº [art] my servant:º I have formedºº thee; thouº [art] my servant:º O Israel,º thou shalt notº be forgottenºº of me.

 44:22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

 44:22 I have blotted out,ºº as a thick cloud,º thy transgressions,º and, as a cloud,º thy sins:º returnºº untoº me; forº I have redeemedºº thee.

 44:23 Sing, O ye heavens, for Jehovah hath done it; shout, ye lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, and will glorify himself in Israel.

 44:23 Sing,ºº O ye heavens;º forº the LORDº hath doneºº [it]: shout,ºº ye lower partsº of the earth:º break forthºº into singing,º ye mountains,º O forest,º and everyº treeº therein: forº the LORDº hath redeemedºº Jacob,º and glorifiedºº himselfº in Israel.º

 44:24 Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth (who is with me?);

 44:24 Thusº saithºº the LORD,º thy redeemer,ºº and he that formedºº thee from the womb,ºº Iº [am] the LORDº that makethºº allº [things]; that stretcheth forthºº the heavensº alone;º that spreadeth abroadºº the earthº byº myself;

 44:25 that frustrateth the signs of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

 44:25 That frustratethºº the tokensº of the liars,º and maketh divinersºº mad;ººº that turnethºº wiseº [men] backward,º and maketh their knowledgeº foolish;ººº

 44:26 that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith of Jerusalem, She shall be inhabited; and of the cities of Judah, They shall be built, and I will raise up the waste places thereof;

 44:26 That confirmethºº the wordº of his servant,º and performethºº the counselº of his messengers;º that saithºº to Jerusalem,º Thou shalt be inhabited;ºº and to the citiesº of Judah,º Ye shall be built,ºº and I will raise upºº the decayed placesº thereof:

 44:27 that saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers;

 44:27 That saithºº to the deep,º Be dry,ºº and I will dry upºº thy rivers:º

 44:28 That saith of Cyrus, [He is] my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure, even saying of Jerusalem, She shall be built; and of the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

 44:28 That saithºº of Cyrus,º [He is] my shepherd,ºº and shall performºº allº my pleasure:º even sayingºº to Jerusalem,º Thou shalt be built;ºº and to the temple,º Thy foundation shall be laid.ºº
