 48:1 ¶
Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness |
|
 48:1 ¶
Hearºº
ye this,º
O houseº
of Jacob,º
which are calledºº
by the nameº
of Israel,º
and are come forthºº
out of the watersºº
of Judah,º
which swearºº
by the nameº
of the LORD,º
and make mentionºº
of the Godº
of Israel,º
[but] notº
in truth,º
norº
in righteousness.º |
 48:2
(for they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; Jehovah of hosts is his name): |
|
 48:2
Forº
they callºº
themselvesº
of the holyº
city,ºº
and stayºº
themselvesº
uponº
the Godº
of Israel;º
The LORDº
of hostsº
[is] his name.º |
 48:3
I have declared the former things from of old; yea, they went forth out of my mouth, and I showed them: suddenly I did them, and they came to pass. |
|
 48:3
I have declaredºº
the former thingsº
from the beginning;ºº
and they went forthºº
out of my mouth,ºº
and I shewedºº
them; I didºº
[them] suddenly,º
and they came to pass.ºº |
 48:4
Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; |
|
 48:4
Because I knewººº
thatº
thouº
[art] obstinate,º
and thy neckº
[is] an ironº
sinew,º
and thy browº
brass;º |
 48:5
therefore I have declared it to thee from of old; before it came to pass I showed it thee; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. |
|
 48:5
I have even from the beginningºº
declaredºº
[it] to thee; beforeº
it came to passºº
I shewedºº
[it] thee: lestº
thou shouldest say,ºº
Mine idolº
hath doneºº
them, and my graven image,º
and my molten image,º
hath commandedºº
them. |
 48:6
Thou hast heard it; behold all this; and ye, will ye not declare it? I have showed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, which thou hast not known. |
|
 48:6
Thou hast heard,ºº
seeºº
allº
this; and will notº
yeº
declareºº
[it]? I have shewedºº
thee new thingsº
from this time,ºº
even hidden things,ºº
and thou didst notº
knowºº
them. |
 48:7
They are created now, and not from of old; and before this day thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them. |
|
 48:7
They are createdºº
now,º
and notº
from the beginning;ºº
even beforeº
the dayº
when thou heardestºº
them not;º
lestº
thou shouldest say,ºº
Behold,º
I knewºº
them. |
 48:8
Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from of old thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou didst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. |
|
 48:8
Yea,º
thou heardestºº
not;º
yea,º
thou knewestºº
not;º
yea,º
from that timeºº
[that] thine earº
was notº
opened:ºº
forº
I knewºº
that thou wouldest deal veryºº
treacherously,ºº
and wast calledºº
a transgressorºº
from the womb.ºº |
 48:9 ¶
For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. |
|
 48:9 ¶
For my name'sº
sakeºº
will I deferºº
mine anger,º
and for my praiseº
will I refrainºº
for thee, that I cut thee not off.ººº |
 48:10
Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. |
|
 48:10
Behold,º
I have refinedºº
thee, but notº
with silver;º
I have chosenºº
thee in the furnaceº
of affliction.º |
 48:11
For mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do it; for how should [my name] be profaned? and my glory will I not give to another. |
|
 48:11
For mine own sake,º
[even] for mine own sake,º
will I doºº
[it]: forº
howº
should [my name] be polluted?ºº
and I will notº
giveºº
my gloryº
unto another.º |
 48:12 ¶
Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel my called: I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. |
|
 48:12 ¶
Hearkenºº
untoº
me, O Jacobº
and Israel,º
my called;ºº
Iº
[am] he;º
Iº
[am] the first,º
Iº
alsoº
[am] the last.º |
 48:13
Yea, my hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spread out the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. |
|
 48:13
Mine handº
alsoº
hath laid the foundationºº
of the earth,º
and my right handº
hath spannedºº
the heavens:º
[when] Iº
callºº
untoº
them, they stand upºº
together.º |
 48:14
Assemble yourselves, all ye, and hear; who among them hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah loveth shall perform his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm [shall be on] the Chaldeans. |
|
 48:14
Allº
ye, assembleºº
yourselves,º
and hear;ºº
whichº
among them hath declaredººº
theseº
[things]? The LORDº
hath lovedºº
him: he will doºº
his pleasureº
on Babylon,º
and his armº
[shall be on] the Chaldeans.º |
 48:15
I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. |
|
 48:15
I,º
[even] I,º
have spoken;ºº
yea,º
I have calledºº
him: I have broughtºº
him, and he shall make his wayº
prosperous.ºº |
 48:16 ¶
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; from the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and his Spirit. |
|
 48:16 ¶
Comeºº
ye nearºº
untoº
me, hearºº
ye this;º
I have notº
spokenºº
in secretº
from the beginning;ºº
from the timeºº
that it was,º
thereº
[am] I:º
and nowº
the Lordº
GOD,º
and his Spirit,º
hath sentºº
me. |
 48:17
Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee to profit, who leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. |
|
 48:17
Thusº
saithºº
the LORD,º
thy Redeemer,ºº
the Holy Oneº
of Israel;º
Iº
[am] the LORDº
thy Godº
which teachethºº
thee to profit,ºº
which leadethºº
thee by the wayº
[that] thou shouldest go.ººº |
 48:18
Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: |
|
 48:18
O thatº
thou hadst hearkenedºº
to my commandments!º
then had thy peaceº
beenº
as a river,º
and thy righteousnessº
as the wavesº
of the sea:º |
 48:19
thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the grains thereof: his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before me. |
|
 48:19
Thy seedº
also had beenº
as the sand,º
and the offspringº
of thy bowelsº
like the gravelº
thereof; his nameº
should notº
have been cut offºº
norº
destroyedºº
from beforeºº
me. |
 48:20 ¶
Go ye forth from Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans; with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth: say ye, Jehovah hath redeemed his servant Jacob. |
|
 48:20 ¶
Go ye forthºº
of Babylon,ºº
fleeºº
ye from the Chaldeans,ºº
with a voiceº
of singingº
declareºº
ye, tellºº
this,º
utterºº
it [even] toº
the endº
of the earth;º
sayºº
ye, The LORDº
hath redeemedºº
his servantº
Jacob.º |
 48:21
And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. |
|
 48:21
And they thirstedºº
notº
[when] he ledººº
them through the deserts:º
he caused the watersº
to flowºº
out of the rockºº
for them: he claveºº
the rockº
also, and the watersº
gushed out.ºº |
 48:22
There is no peace, saith Jehovah, to the wicked. |
|
 48:22
[There is] noº
peace,º
saithºº
the LORD,º
unto the wicked.º |
