 12:1 ¶
Now Jehovah said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto the land that I will show thee: |
|
 12:1 ¶
Now the LORDº
had saidºº
untoº
Abram,º
Get thee outººº
of thy country,ºº
and from thy kindred,ºº
and from thy father'sº
house,ººº
untoº
a landº
thatº
I will shewºº
thee: |
 12:2
and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make they name great; and be thou a blessing; |
|
 12:2
And I will makeº
of theeºº
a greatº
nation,º
and I will blessºº
thee, and makeºº
thy nameº
great;ººº
and thou shalt beº
a blessing:º |
 12:3
and I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. |
|
 12:3
And I will blessºº
them that blessºº
thee, and curseºº
him that cursethºº
thee: and in thee shall allº
familiesº
of the earthº
be blessed.ºº |
 12:4
So Abram went, as Jehovah had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. |
|
 12:4
So Abramº
departed,ººº
asº
the LORDº
had spokenºº
untoº
him; and Lotº
wentººº
withº
him: and Abramº
[was] seventyºº
and fiveº
yearsº
oldº
when he departedºº
out of Haran.ºº |
 12:5
And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. |
|
 12:5
And Abramº
tookººº
Saraiº
his wife,º
and Lotº
his brother'sº
son,º
and allº
their substanceº
thatº
they had gathered,ºº
and the soulsº
thatº
they had gottenºº
in Haran;º
and they went forthºº
to goººº
into the landº
of Canaan;º
and into the landº
of Canaanº
they came.ºº |
 12:6 ¶
And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Shechem, unto the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. |
|
 12:6 ¶
And Abramº
passed throughºº
the landº
untoº
the placeº
of Sichem,º
untoº
the plainº
of Moreh.º
And the Canaaniteº
[was] thenº
in the land.º |
 12:7
And Jehovah appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto Jehovah, who appeared unto him. |
|
 12:7
And the LORDº
appearedºº
untoº
Abram,º
and said,ºº
Unto thy seedº
will I giveººº
thisº
land:º
and thereº
buildedºº
he an altarº
unto the LORD,º
who appearedºº
untoº
him. |
 12:8
And he removed from thence unto the mountain on the east of Beth-el, and pitched his tent, having Beth-el on the west, and Ai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto Jehovah, and called upon the name of Jehovah. |
|
 12:8
And he removedºº
from thenceºº
unto a mountainº
on the eastºº
of Bethel,º
and pitchedºº
his tent,º
[having] Bethelº
on the west,ºº
and Haiº
on the east:ºº
and thereº
he buildedºº
an altarº
unto the LORD,º
and calledºº
upon the nameº
of the LORD.º |
 12:9
And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South. |
|
 12:9
And Abramº
journeyed,ºº
going onºº
stillºº
toward the south.º |
 12:10 ¶
And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was sore in the land. |
|
 12:10 ¶
And there wasº
a famineº
in the land:º
and Abramº
went downºº
into Egyptº
to sojournºº
there;º
forº
the famineº
[was] grievousº
in the land.º |
 12:11
And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: |
|
 12:11
And it came to pass,º
whenº
he was come nearºº
to enterºº
into Egypt,º
that he saidºº
untoº
Saraiº
his wife,º
Beholdº
now,º
I knowºº
thatº
thouº
[art] a fairº
womanº
to look upon:º |
 12:12
and it will come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they will say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. |
|
 12:12
Therefore it shall come to pass,º
whenº
the Egyptiansº
shall seeºº
thee, that they shall say,ºº
Thisº
[is] his wife:º
and they will killºº
me, but they will save thee alive.ºº |
 12:13
Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister; that it may be well with me for thy sake, and that my soul may live because of thee. |
|
 12:13
Say,ºº
I pray thee,º
thouº
[art] my sister:º
thatº
it may be wellºº
with me for thy sake;º
and my soulº
shall liveºº
because ofº
thee.º |
 12:14 ¶
And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. |
|
 12:14 ¶
And it came to pass,º
that, when Abramº
was comeºº
into Egypt,º
the Egyptiansº
beheldººº
the womanº
thatº
sheº
[was] veryº
fair.º |
 12:15
And the princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. |
|
 12:15
The princesº
also of Pharaohº
sawºº
her, and commendedºº
her beforeº
Pharaoh:º
and the womanº
was takenºº
into Pharaoh'sº
house.º |
 12:16
And he dealt well with Abram for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and she-asses, and camels. |
|
 12:16
And he entreatedºº
Abramº
wellººº
for her sake:º
and he hadº
sheep,º
and oxen,º
and he asses,º
and menservants,º
and maidservants,º
and she asses,º
and camels.º |
 12:17
And Jehovah plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. |
|
 12:17
And the LORDº
plaguedººº
Pharaohº
and his houseº
with greatº
plaguesº
because ofºº
Saraiº
Abram'sº
wife.º |
 12:18
And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? |
|
 12:18
And Pharaohº
calledºº
Abram,º
and said,ºº
Whatº
[is] thisº
[that] thou hast doneºº
unto me? whyº
didst thou notº
tellºº
me thatº
sheº
[was] thy wife?º |
 12:19
why saidst thou, She is my sister, so that I took her to be my wife? now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way. |
|
 12:19
Whyº
saidstº
thou,ºº
Sheº
[is] my sister?º
so I might have takenºº
her to me to wife:º
now thereforeº
beholdº
thy wife,º
takeºº
[her], and go thy way.ººº |
 12:20
And Pharaoh gave men charge concerning him: and they brought him on the way, and his wife, and all that he had. |
|
 12:20
And Pharaohº
commandedºº
[his] menºº
concerningº
him: and they sent him away,ººº
and his wife,º
and allº
thatº
he had. |
