 20:1 ¶
And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the land of the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur. And he sojourned in Gerar. |
|
 20:1 ¶
And Abrahamº
journeyedºº
from thenceºº
toward the southº
country,º
and dwelledºº
betweenº
Kadeshº
and Shur,º
and sojournedºº
in Gerar.º |
 20:2
And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. And Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. |
 20:2
And Abrahamº
saidºº
ofº
Sarahº
his wife,º
Sheº
[is] my sister:º
and Abimelechº
kingº
of Gerarº
sent,ºº
and tookººº
Sarah.º |
 20:3
But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, because of the woman whom thou hast taken. For she is a man's wife. |
 20:3
But Godº
cameºº
toº
Abimelechº
in a dreamº
by night,º
and saidºº
to him, Behold,º
thou [art but] a dead man,ºº
forº
the womanº
whichº
thou hast taken;ºº
for sheº
[is] a man'sº
wife.ºº |
 20:4
Now Abimelech had not come near her. And he said, Lord, wilt thou slay even a righteous nation? |
 20:4
But Abimelechº
had notº
come nearººº
her: and he said,ºº
Lord,º
wilt thou slayºº
alsoº
a righteousº
nation?º |
 20:5
Said he not himself unto me, She is my sister? And she, even she herself said, He is my brother. In the integrity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this. |
 20:5
Saidºº
heº
notº
unto me, Sheº
[is] my sister?º
and she,º
evenº
sheº
herselfº
said,ºº
Heº
[is] my brother:º
in the integrityº
of my heartº
and innocencyº
of my handsº
have I doneºº
this.º |
 20:6
And God said unto him in the dream, Yea, I know that in the integrity of thy heart thou has done this, and I also withheld thee from sinning against me. Therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. |
 20:6
And Godº
saidºº
untoº
him in a dream,º
Yea,º
Iº
knowºº
thatº
thou didstºº
thisº
in the integrityº
of thy heart;º
for Iº
alsoº
withheldºº
thee from sinningººº
against me: thereforeºº
sufferedºº
I thee notº
to touchººº
her. |
 20:7
Now therefore restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live. And if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. |
 20:7
Nowº
therefore restoreºº
the manº
[his] wife;º
forº
heº
[is] a prophet,º
and he shall prayºº
forº
thee,º
and thou shalt live:ºº
and ifº
thou restoreºº
[her] not,º
knowºº
thou thatº
thou shalt surelyºº
die,ºº
thou,º
and allº
thatº
[are] thine. |
 20:8
And Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. And the men were sore afraid. |
 20:8
Therefore Abimelechº
rose earlyºº
in the morning,º
and calledºº
allº
his servants,º
and toldººº
allº
theseº
thingsº
in their ears:º
and the menºº
were soreº
afraid.ººº |
 20:9
Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? And wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? Thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. |
 20:9
Then Abimelechº
calledºº
Abraham,º
and saidºº
unto him, Whatº
hast thou doneºº
unto us? and whatº
have I offendedºº
thee, thatº
thou hast broughtºº
onº
me and onº
my kingdomº
a greatº
sin?º
thou hast doneºº
deedsº
untoº
me thatº
ought notº
to be done.ºº |
 20:10
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? |
 20:10
And Abimelechº
saidºº
untoº
Abraham,º
Whatº
sawestº
thou,ºº
thatº
thou hast doneººº
thisº
thing?º |
 20:11
And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place. And they will slay me for my wife's sake. |
 20:11
And Abrahamº
said,ºº
Becauseº
I thought,ºº
Surelyº
the fearº
of Godº
[is] notº
in thisº
place;º
and they will slayº
meºº
forº
my wife'sº
sake.º |
 20:12
And moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife: |
 20:12
And yetº
indeedº
[she is] my sister;º
sheº
[is] the daughterº
of my father,º
butº
notº
the daughterº
of my mother;º
and she becameº
my wife.º |
 20:13
and it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me. At every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. |
 20:13
And it came to pass,º
whenº
Godº
caused me to wanderºº
from my father'sº
house,ººº
that I saidºº
unto her, Thisº
[is] thy kindnessº
whichº
thou shalt shewºº
untoº
me; atº
everyº
placeº
whitherºº
we shall come,ºº
sayºº
of me, Heº
[is] my brother.º |
 20:14
And Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and men-servants and women-servants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. |
 20:14
And Abimelechº
tookºº
sheep,º
and oxen,º
and menservants,º
and womenservants,º
and gaveºº
[them] unto Abraham,º
and restoredºº
himº
Sarahº
his wife.º |
 20:15
And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee. Dwell where it pleaseth thee. |
 20:15
And Abimelechº
said,ºº
Behold,º
my landº
[is] beforeº
thee:º
dwellºº
where it pleasethºº
thee. |
 20:16
And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for thee a covering of the eyes to all that are with thee. And in respect of all thou art righted. |
 20:16
And unto Sarahº
he said,ºº
Behold,º
I have givenºº
thy brotherº
a thousandº
[pieces] of silver:º
behold,º
heº
[is] to thee a coveringº
of the eyes,º
unto allº
thatº
[are] withº
thee, and withº
allº
[other]: thus she was reproved.ºº |
 20:17 ¶
And Abraham prayed unto God. And God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants. And they bare children. |
 20:17 ¶
So Abrahamº
prayedºº
untoº
God:º
and Godº
healedººº
Abimelech,º
and his wife,º
and his maidservants;º
and they bareºº
[children]. |
 20:18
For Jehovah had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham's wife. |
 20:18
Forº
the LORDº
had fastºº
closed upººº
allº
the wombsº
of the houseº
of Abimelech,º
becauseºº
of Sarahº
Abraham'sº
wife.º |
