 3:1 ¶
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden? |
|
 3:1 ¶
Now the serpentº
wasºº
more subtilº
than anyºº
beastº
of the fieldº
whichº
the LORDº
Godº
had made.ºº
And he saidºº
untoº
the woman,º
Yea,ºº
hath Godº
said,ºº
Ye shall notº
eatºº
of everyºº
treeº
of the garden?º |
 3:2
And the woman said unto the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat: |
 3:2
And the womanº
saidºº
untoº
the serpent,º
We may eatºº
of the fruitºº
of the treesº
of the garden:º |
 3:3
but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. |
 3:3
But of the fruitºº
of the treeº
whichº
[is] in the midstº
of the garden,º
Godº
hath said,ºº
Ye shall notº
eatºº
ofº
it, neitherº
shall ye touchºº
it, lestº
ye die.ºº |
 3:4
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: |
 3:4
And the serpentº
saidºº
untoº
the woman,º
Ye shall notº
surelyºº
die:ºº |
 3:5
for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil. |
 3:5
Forº
Godº
doth knowºº
thatº
in the dayº
ye eatºº
thereof,º
then your eyesº
shall be opened,ºº
and ye shall beº
as gods,º
knowingºº
goodº
and evil.º |
 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. |
 3:6
And when the womanº
sawºº
thatº
the treeº
[was] goodº
for food,º
and thatº
itº
[was] pleasantº
to the eyes,º
and a treeº
to be desiredºº
to make [one] wise,ºº
she tookºº
of the fruitºº
thereof,º
and did eat,ºº
and gaveºº
alsoº
unto her husbandº
withº
her; and he did eat.ºº |
 3:7
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons. |
 3:7
And the eyesº
of them bothº
were opened,ºº
and theyº
knewºº
thatº
theyº
[were] naked;º
and they sewedºº
figº
leavesº
together,ºº
and madeº
themselvesºº
aprons.º |
 3:8
And they heard the voice of Jehovah God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Jehovah God amongst the trees of the garden. |
 3:8
And they heardººº
the voiceº
of the LORDº
Godº
walkingºº
in the gardenº
in the coolº
of the day:º
and Adamºº
and his wifeº
hid themselvesºº
from the presenceºº
of the LORDº
Godº
amongstº
the treesº
of the garden.º |
 3:9
And Jehovah God called unto the man, and said unto him, Where art thou? |
 3:9
And the LORDº
Godº
calledºº
untoº
Adam,ºº
and saidºº
unto him, Whereº
[art] thou?º |
 3:10
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. |
 3:10
And he said,ºº
I heardººº
thy voiceº
in the garden,º
and I was afraid,ºº
becauseº
Iº
[was] naked;º
and I hid myself.ºº |
 3:11
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? |
 3:11
And he said,ºº
Whoº
toldºº
thee thatº
thouº
[wast] naked?º
Hast thou eatenºº
ofº
the tree,º
whereofºº
I commandedº
theeºº
that thou shouldest notº
eat?ºº |
 3:12
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. |
 3:12
And the manº
said,ºº
The womanº
whomº
thou gavestºº
[to be] withº
me,º
sheº
gaveºº
me ofº
the tree,º
and I did eat.ºº |
 3:13
And Jehovah God said unto the woman, What is this thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. |
 3:13
And the LORDº
Godº
saidºº
unto the woman,º
Whatº
[is] thisº
[that] thou hast done?ºº
And the womanº
said,ºº
The serpentº
beguiledº
me,ºº
and I did eat.ºº |
 3:14
And Jehovah God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: |
 3:14
And the LORDº
Godº
saidºº
untoº
the serpent,º
Becauseº
thouº
hast doneºº
this,º
thouº
[art] cursedºº
above allºº
cattle,º
and above everyºº
beastº
of the field;º
uponº
thy bellyº
shalt thou go,ººº
and dustº
shalt thou eatºº
allº
the daysº
of thy life:º |
 3:15
and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. |
 3:15
And I will putºº
enmityº
betweenº
thee and the woman,º
and betweenº
thy seedº
and her seed;º
itº
shall bruiseºº
thy head,º
and thouº
shalt bruiseºº
his heel.º |
 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy pain and thy conception; in pain thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. |
 3:16
Untoº
the womanº
he said,ºº
I will greatlyºº
multiplyºº
thy sorrowº
and thy conception;º
in sorrowº
thou shalt bring forthºº
children;º
and thy desireº
[shall be] toº
thy husband,º
and heº
shall ruleºº
over thee. |
 3:17
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; |
 3:17
And unto Adamº
he said,ºº
Becauseº
thou hast hearkenedºº
unto the voiceº
of thy wife,º
and hast eatenºº
ofº
the tree,º
of whichº
I commandedº
thee,ºº
saying,ºº
Thou shalt notº
eatºº
ofº
it: cursedºº
[is] the groundº
for thy sake;º
in sorrowº
shalt thou eatºº
[of] it allº
the daysº
of thy life;º |
 3:18
thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; |
 3:18
Thornsº
alsoº
and thistlesº
shall it bring forthºº
to thee; and thou shalt eatººº
the herbº
of the field;º |
 3:19
in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. |
 3:19
In the sweatº
of thy faceº
shalt thou eatºº
bread,º
tillº
thou returnºº
untoº
the ground;º
forº
out ofº
it wast thou taken:ºº
forº
dustº
thouº
[art], and untoº
dustº
shalt thou return.ºº |
 3:20
And the man called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. |
 3:20
And Adamºº
calledºº
his wife'sº
nameº
Eve;º
becauseº
sheº
wasº
the motherº
of allº
living.º |
 3:21
And Jehovah God made for Adam and for his wife coats of skins, and clothed them. |
 3:21
Unto Adamºº
also and to his wifeº
did the LORDº
Godº
makeºº
coatsº
of skins,º
and clothedº
them.ºº |
 3:22 ¶
And Jehovah God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever -- |
 3:22 ¶
And the LORDº
Godº
said,ºº
Behold,º
the manº
is becomeº
as oneº
ofº
us, to knowºº
goodº
and evil:º
and now,º
lestº
he put forthºº
his hand,º
and takeºº
alsoº
of the treeºº
of life,º
and eat,ºº
and liveºº
for ever:º |
 3:23
therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. |
 3:23
Therefore the LORDº
Godº
sent him forthºº
from the gardenºº
of Eden,º
to tillººº
the groundº
from whenceººº
he was taken.ºº |
 3:24
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden the Cherubim, and the flame of a sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. |
 3:24
So he drove outººº
the man;º
and he placedºº
at the eastºº
of the gardenº
of Edenºº
Cherubims,º
and a flamingº
swordº
which turned every way,ºº
to keepººº
the wayº
of the treeº
of life.º |
