Deuteronomy 5

1 The Covenant in Horeb. 6 The Ten Commandments. 22 At the people's request Moses receiveth the Law from God.

 5:1 Then Moses 4872 summoned 7121 all 3605 Israel 3478 and said 559 to them: ¶ “Hear 8085, O Israel 3478, the statutes 2706 and the ordinances 4941 which 834 I am speaking 1696 today 3117 in your hearing 241, that you may learn 3925 them and observe 8104 them carefully 6213a.

 5:2 “The LORD 3068 our God 430 made 3772 a covenant 1285 with us at Horeb 2722.

 5:3 “The LORD 3068 did not make 3772 this 2088 covenant 1285 with our fathers 1, but with us, [with] all 3605 those 428 of us alive 2416a here 6311 today 3117.

 5:4 “The LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to you face 6440 to face 6440 at the mountain 2022 from the midst 8432 of the fire 784,

 5:5 [while] I was standing 5975 between 996 the LORD 3068 and you at that time 6256, to declare 5046 to you the word 1697 of the LORD 3068; for you were afraid 3372a because 4480 6440 of the fire 784 and did not go 5927 up the mountain 2022. He said 559,

 5:6 ¶ ‘I am the LORD 3068 your God 430 who 834 brought 3318 you out of the land 776 of Egypt 4714, out of the house 1004 of slavery 5650.

 5:7 ¶ ‘You shall have 1961 no 3808 other 312 gods 430 before 6440 Me.

 5:8 ¶ ‘You shall not make 6213a for yourself an idol 6459, [or] any 3605 likeness 8544 [of] what 834 is in heaven 8064 above 4480 4605 or on the earth 776 beneath 4480 8478 or in the water 4325 under 8478 the earth 776.

 5:9 ‘You shall not worship 7812 them or serve 5647 them; for I, the LORD 3068 your God 430, am a jealous 7067 God 410, visiting 6485 the iniquity 5771 of the fathers 1 on the children 1121, and on the third 8029 and the fourth 7256 [generations] of those who hate 8130 Me,

 5:10 but showing 6213a lovingkindness 2617a to thousands 505, to those who love 157 Me and keep 8104 My commandments 4687.

 5:11 ¶ ‘You shall not take 5375 the name 8034 of the LORD 3068 your God 430 in vain 7723, for the LORD 3068 will not leave 5352 him unpunished 5352 who 834 takes 5375 His name 8034 in vain 7723.

 5:12 ¶ ‘Observe 8104 the sabbath 7676 day 3117 to keep 6942 it holy 6942, as the LORD 3068 your God 430 commanded 6680 you.

 5:13 ‘Six 8337a days 3117 you shall labor 5647 and do 6213a all 3605 your work 4399,

 5:14 but the seventh 7637 day 3117 is a sabbath 7676 of the LORD 3068 your God 430; [in it] you shall not do 6213a any 3605 work 4399, you or your son 1121 or your daughter 1323 or your male 5650 servant 5650 or your female 519 servant 519 or your ox 7794 or your donkey 2543 or any 3605 of your cattle 929 or your sojourner 1616 who 834 stays with you, so 4616 that your male 5650 servant 5650 and your female 519 servant 519 may rest 5117 as well as you.

 5:15 ‘You shall remember 2142 that you were a slave 5650 in the land 776 of Egypt 4714, and the LORD 3068 your God 430 brought 3318 you out of there 8033 by a mighty 2389 hand 3027 and by an outstretched 5186 arm 2220; therefore 5921 3651 the LORD 3068 your God 430 commanded 6680 you to observe 6213a the sabbath 7676 day 3117.

 5:16 ¶ ‘Honor 3513 your father 1 and your mother 517, as the LORD 3068 your God 430 has commanded 6680 you, that your days 3117 may be prolonged 748 and that it may go 3190 well 3190 with you on the land 127 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 gives 5414 you.

 5:17 ¶ ‘You shall not murder 7523.

 5:18 ¶ ‘You shall not commit 5003 adultery 5003.

 5:19 ¶ ‘You shall not steal 1589.

 5:20 ¶ ‘You shall not bear 6030a false 7723 witness 5707 against your neighbor 7453.

 5:21 ¶ ‘You shall not covet 2530 your neighbor’s 7453 wife 802, and you shall not desire 183 your neighbor’s 7453 house 1004, his field 7704 or his male 5650 servant 5650 or his female 519 servant 519, his ox 7794 or his donkey 2543 or anything 3605 that belongs to your neighbor 7453.’

 5:22 ¶ “These 428 words 1697 the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 to all 3605 your assembly 6951 at the mountain 2022 from the midst 8432 of the fire 784, [of] the cloud 6051 and [of] the thick 6205 gloom 6205, with a great 1419 voice 6963, and He added 3254 no 3808 more 3254. He wrote 3789 them on two 8147 tablets 3871 of stone 68 and gave 5414 them to me.

 5:23 “And when you heard 8085 the voice 6963 from the midst 8432 of the darkness 2822, while the mountain 2022 was burning 1197a with fire 784, you came 7126 near 7126 to me, all 3605 the heads 7218 of your tribes 7626 and your elders 2205.

 5:24 “You said 559, ‘Behold 2005, the LORD 3068 our God 430 has shown 7200 us His glory 3519b and His greatness 1433, and we have heard 8085 His voice 6963 from the midst 8432 of the fire 784; we have seen 7200 today 3117 that God 430 speaks 1696 with man 120, yet he lives 2421a.

 5:25 ‘Now 6258 then why 4100 should we die 4191? For this 2088 great 1419 fire 784 will consume 398 us; if 518 we hear 8085 the voice 6963 of the LORD 3068 our God 430 any 5750 longer 5750, then we will die 4191.

 5:26 ‘For who 4310 is there of all 3605 flesh 1320 who 834 has heard 8085 the voice 6963 of the living 2416a God 430 speaking 1696 from the midst 8432 of the fire 784, as we [have], and lived 2421a?

 5:27 ‘Go 7126 near 7126 and hear 8085 all 3605 that the LORD 3068 our God 430 says 559; then speak 1696 to us all 3605 that the LORD 3068 our God 430 speaks 1696 to you, and we will hear 8085 and do 6213a [it].’

 5:28 ¶ “The LORD 3068 heard 8085 the voice 6963 of your words 1697 when you spoke 1696 to me, and the LORD 3068 said 559 to me, ‘I have heard 8085 the voice 6963 of the words 1697 of this 2088 people 5971a which 834 they have spoken 1696 to you. They have done 3190 well 3190 in all 3605 that they have spoken 1696.

 5:29 ‘Oh 4310 5414 that they had 1961 such 2088 a heart 3824 in them, that they would fear 3372a Me and keep 8104 all 3605 My commandments 4687 always 3605 3117, that it may be well 3190 with them and with their sons 1121 forever 5769!

 5:30 ‘Go 1980, say 559 to them, “Return 7725 to your tents 168.”

 5:31 ‘But as for you, stand 5975 here 6311 by Me, that I may speak 1696 to you all 3605 the commandments 4687 and the statutes 2706 and the judgments 4941 which 834 you shall teach 3925 them, that they may observe 6213a [them] in the land 776 which 834 I give 5414 them to possess 3423.’

 5:32 “So you shall observe 6213a to do 6213a just 3512c as the LORD 3068 your God 430 has commanded 6680 you; you shall not turn 5493 aside 5493 to the right 3225 or to the left 8040.

 5:33 “You shall walk 1980 in all 3605 the way 1870 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 has commanded 6680 you, that you may live 2421a and that it may be well 2895 with you, and that you may prolong 748 [your] days 3117 in the land 776 which 834 you will possess 3423.
