Deuteronomy 12

1 Monuments of idolatry are to be destroyed. 5 The place of God's service is to be kept. 16, 23 Blood is forbidden. 17, 20, 26 Holy things must be eaten in the holy place. 19 The Levite is not to be forsaken. 29 Idolatry is not to be enquired after.

 12:1 “These 428 are the statutes 2706 and the judgments 4941 which 834 you shall carefully 6213a observe 8104 in the land 776 which 834 the LORD 3068, the God 430 of your fathers 1, has given 5414 you to possess 3423 as long 3605 3117 as you live 2416a on the earth 127.

 12:2 “You shall utterly 6 destroy 6 all 3605 the places 4725 where 834 8033 the nations 1471 whom 834 you shall dispossess 3423 serve 5647 their gods 430, on the high 7311 mountains 2022 and on the hills 1389 and under 8478 every 3605 green 7488 tree 6086.

 12:3 “You shall tear 5422 down 5422 their altars 4196 and smash 7665 their [sacred] pillars 4676 and burn 8313 their Asherim 842 with fire 784, and you shall cut 1438 down 1438 the engraved 6456 images 6456 of their gods 430 and obliterate 6 their name 8034 from that place 4725.

 12:4 “You shall not act 6213a like 3651 this 3651 toward the LORD 3068 your God 430.

 12:5 “But you shall seek 1875 [the LORD] at the place 4725 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 will choose 977 from all 3605 your tribes 7626, to establish 7760 His name 8034 there 8033 for His dwelling 7931, and there 8033 you shall come 935.

 12:6 “There 8033 you shall bring 935 your burnt 5930a offerings 5930a, your sacrifices 2077, your tithes 4643, the contribution 8641 of your hand 3027, your votive 5088 offerings 5088, your freewill 5071 offerings 5071, and the firstborn 1060 of your herd 1241 and of your flock 6629.

 12:7 “There 8033 also you and your households 1004 shall eat 398 before 6440 the LORD 3068 your God 430, and rejoice 8055 in all 3605 your undertakings 3027 4916a in which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 has blessed 1288 you.

 12:8 ¶ “You shall not do 6213a at all 3605 what 834 we are doing 6213a here 6311 today 3117, every 376 man 376 [doing] whatever 3605 is right 3477 in his own eyes 5869;

 12:9 for you have not as yet 6258 come 935 to the resting 4496 place 4496 and the inheritance 5159 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 is giving 5414 you.

 12:10 “When you cross 5674a the Jordan 3383 and live 3427 in the land 776 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 is giving you to inherit 5157, and He gives 5117 you rest 5117 from all 3605 your enemies 340 around 5439 [you] so that you live 3427 in security 983,

 12:11 then it shall come 1961 about that the place 4725 in which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 will choose 977 for His name 8034 to dwell 7931, there 8033 you shall bring 935 all 3605 that I command 6680 you: your burnt 5930a offerings 5930a and your sacrifices 2077, your tithes 4643 and the contribution 8641 of your hand 3027, and all 3605 your choice 977 votive 5088 offerings 5088 which 834 you will vow 5088 to the LORD 3068.

 12:12 “And you shall rejoice 8055 before 6440 the LORD 3068 your God 430, you and your sons 1121 and daughters 1323, your male 5650 and female 519 servants 5650 519, and the Levite 3881 who 834 is within your gates 8179, since 3588 he has 369 no 369 portion 2506 or inheritance 5159 with you.

 12:13 ¶ “Be careful 8104 that you do not offer 5927 your burnt 5930a offerings 5930a in every 3605 [cultic] place 4725 you see 7200,

 12:14 but in the place 4725 which 834 the LORD 3068 chooses 977 in one 259 of your tribes 7626, there 8033 you shall offer 5927 your burnt 5930a offerings 5930a, and there 8033 you shall do 6213a all 3605 that I command 6680 you.

 12:15 ¶ “However 7534, you may slaughter 2076 and eat 398 meat 1320 within any 3605 of your gates 8179, whatever 3605 you desire 185, according to the blessing 1293 of the LORD 3068 your God 430 which 834 He has given 5414 you; the unclean 2931 and the clean 2889 may eat 398 of it, as of the gazelle 6643b and the deer 354.

 12:16 “Only 7534 you shall not eat 398 the blood 1818; you are to pour 8210 it out on the ground 776 like water 4325.

 12:17 “You are not allowed 3201 to eat 398 within your gates 8179 the tithe 4643 of your grain 1715 or new 8492 wine 8492 or oil 3323, or the firstborn 1060 of your herd 1241 or flock 6629, or any 3605 of your votive 5088 offerings 5088 which 834 you vow 5087, or your freewill 5071 offerings 5071, or the contribution 8641 of your hand 3027.

 12:18 “But you shall eat 398 them before 6440 the LORD 3068 your God 430 in the place 4725 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 will choose 977, you and your son 1121 and daughter 1323, and your male 5650 and female 519 servants 5650 519, and the Levite 3881 who 834 is within your gates 8179; and you shall rejoice 8055 before 6440 the LORD 3068 your God 430 in all 3605 your undertakings 3027 4916a.

 12:19 “Be careful 8104 that you do not forsake 5800a the Levite 3881 as long 3605 3117 as you live 3117 in your land 127.

 12:20 ¶ “When 3588 the LORD 3068 your God 430 extends 7337 your border 1366 as He has promised 1696 you, and you say 559, ‘I will eat 398 meat 1320,’ because 3588 you desire 183 to eat 398 meat 1320, [then] you may eat 398 meat 1320, whatever 3605 you desire 185.

 12:21 “If 3588 the place 4725 which 834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 chooses 977 to put 7760 His name 8034 is too far 7368 from you, then you may slaughter 2076 of your herd 1241 and flock 6629 which 834 the LORD 3068 has given 5414 you, as I have commanded 6680 you; and you may eat 398 within your gates 8179 whatever 3605 you desire 185.

 12:22 “Just 389 3512c as a gazelle 6643b or a deer 354 is eaten 398, so 3651 you will eat 398 it; the unclean 2931 and the clean 2889 alike 3164a may eat 398 of it.

 12:23 “Only 7534 be sure 2388 not to eat 398 the blood 1818, for the blood 1818 is the life 5315, and you shall not eat 398 the life 5315 with the flesh 1320.

 12:24 “You shall not eat 398 it; you shall pour 8210 it out on the ground 776 like water 4325.

 12:25 “You shall not eat 398 it, so 4616 that it may be well 3190 with you and your sons 1121 after 310 you, for you will be doing 6213a what 3477 is right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068.

 12:26 “Only 7534 your holy 6944 things 6944 which 834 you may have 1961 and your votive 5088 offerings 5088, you shall take 5375 and go 935 to the place 4725 which 834 the LORD 3068 chooses 977.

 12:27 “And you shall offer 6213a your burnt 5930a offerings 5930a, the flesh 1320 and the blood 1818, on the altar 4196 of the LORD 3068 your God 430; and the blood 1818 of your sacrifices 2077 shall be poured 8210 out on the altar 4196 of the LORD 3068 your God 430, and you shall eat 398 the flesh 1320.

 12:28 ¶ “Be careful 8104 to listen 8085 to all 3605 these 428 words 1697 which 834 I command 6680 you, so 4616 that it may be well 3190 with you and your sons 1121 after 310 you forever 5704 5769, for you will be doing 6213a what 2896a is good 2896a and right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068 your God 430.

 12:29 ¶ “When 3588 the LORD 3068 your God 430 cuts 3772 off 3772 before 4480 6440 you the nations 1471 which 834 you are going 935 in to dispossess 3423, and you dispossess 3423 them and dwell 3427 in their land 776,

 12:30 beware 8104 that you are not ensnared 5367 to follow 310 them, after 310 they are destroyed 8045 before 4480 6440 you, and that you do not inquire 1875 after their gods 430, saying 559, ‘How 351a do these 428 nations 1471 serve 5647 their gods 430, that I also 1571 may do 6213a likewise 3651?’

 12:31 “You shall not behave 6213a thus 3651 toward the LORD 3068 your God 430, for every 3605 abominable 8441 act 8441 which 834 the LORD 3068 hates 8130 they have done 6213a for their gods 430; for they even 1571 burn 8313 their sons 1121 and daughters 1323 in the fire 784 to their gods 430.

 12:32 ¶ “Whatever 3605 1697 834 I command 6680 you, you shall be careful 8104 to do 6213a; you shall not add 3254 to nor 3808 take 1639 away 1639 from it.
