1 Chronicles 17

1 Nathan first approving the purpose of David to build God an house, 3 after by the Word of God forbiddeth him. 11 He promiseth him blessings and benefits in his seed. 16 David's prayer and thanksgiving.

 17:1 And it came 1961 about, when 3512c David 1732 dwelt 3427 in his house 1004, that David 1732 said 559 to Nathan 5416 the prophet 5030, “Behold 2009, I am dwelling 3427 in a house 1004 of cedar 730, but the ark 727 of the covenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 is under 8478 curtains 3407.”

 17:2 Then Nathan 5416 said 559 to David 1732, “Do 6213a all 3605 that is in your heart 3824, for God 430 is with you.”

 17:3 ¶ It came 1961 about the same 1931 night 3915 that the word 1697 of God 430 came 1961 to Nathan 5416, saying 559,

 17:4 “Go 1980 and tell 559 David 1732 My servant 5650, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “You shall not build 1129 a house 1004 for Me to dwell 3427 in;

 17:5 for I have not dwelt 3427 in a house 1004 since 4480 the day 3117 that I brought 5927 up Israel 3478 to this 2088 day 3117, but I have gone 1961 from tent 168 to tent 168 and from [one] dwelling 4908 place 4908 [to another].

 17:6 “In all 3605 places where 834 I have walked 1980 with all 3605 Israel 3478, have I spoken 1696 a word 1697 with any 259 of the judges 8199 of Israel 3478, whom 834 I commanded 6680 to shepherd 7462a My people 5971a, saying 559, ‘Why 4100 have you not built 1129 for Me a house 1004 of cedar 730?’”’

 17:7 “Now 6258, therefore, thus 3541 shall you say 559 to My servant 5650 David 1732, ‘Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, “I took 3947 you from the pasture 5116a, from following 310 the sheep 6629, to be leader 5057 over 5921 My people 5971a Israel 3478.

 17:8 “I have been 1961 with you wherever 3605 834 you have gone 1980, and have cut 3772 off 3772 all 3605 your enemies 340 from before 6440 you; and I will make 6213a you a name 8034 like the name 8034 of the great 1419 ones 1419 who 834 are in the earth 776.

 17:9 “I will appoint 7760 a place 4725 for My people 5971a Israel 3478, and will plant 5193 them, so that they may dwell 7931 in their own place 8478 and not be moved 7264 again 5750; and the wicked 5767b 1121 will not waste 1086 them anymore 3254 as formerly 7223,

 17:10 even from the day 3117 that I commanded 6680 judges 8199 [to be] over 5921 My people 5971a Israel 3478. And I will subdue 3665 all 3605 your enemies 340. ¶ Moreover, I tell 5046 you that the LORD 3068 will build 1129 a house 1004 for you.

 17:11 “When 3588 your days 3117 are fulfilled 4390 that you must go 1980 [to be] with your fathers 1, that I will set 6965 up [one of] your descendants 2233 after 310 you, who 834 will be of your sons 1121; and I will establish 3559 his kingdom 4438.

 17:12 “He shall build 1129 for Me a house 1004, and I will establish 3559 his throne 3678 forever 5704 5769.

 17:13 “I will be his father 1 and he shall be My son 1121; and I will not take 5493 My lovingkindness 2617a away 5493 from him, as I took 5493 it from him who 834 was before 6440 you.

 17:14 “But I will settle 3427 him in My house 1004 and in My kingdom 4438 forever 5704 5769, and his throne 3678 shall be established 3559 forever 5704 5769.”’”

 17:15 According to all 3605 these 428 words 1697 and according to all 3605 this 2088 vision 2377, so 3651 Nathan 5416 spoke 1696 to David 1732.

 17:16 ¶ Then David 1732 the king 4428 went 935 in and sat 3427 before 6440 the LORD 3068 and said 559, “Who 4310 am I, O LORD 3068 God 430, and what 4310 is my house 1004 that You have brought 935 me this 1988 far 1988?

 17:17 “This 2088 was a small 6994 thing 6994 in Your eyes 5869, O God 430; but You have spoken 1696 of Your servant’s 5650 house 1004 for a great 7350 while 7350 to come 7350, and have regarded 7200 me according to the standard 8447 of a man 120 of high 4609b degree 4609b, O LORD 3068 God 430.

 17:18 “What 4100 more 3254 can David 1732 still 5750 [say] to You concerning the honor 3519b [bestowed] on Your servant 5650? For You know 3045 Your servant 5650.

 17:19 “O LORD 3068, for Your servant’s 5650 sake 5668, and according to Your own heart 3820, You have wrought 6213a all 3605 this 2088 greatness 1420, to make 3045 known 3045 all 3605 these great 1420 things 1420.

 17:20 “O LORD 3068, there 369 is none 369 like 3644 You, nor 369 is there 369 any God 430 besides 2108 You, according to all 3605 that we have heard 8085 with our ears 241.

 17:21 “And what 4310 one 259 nation 1471 in the earth 776 is like Your people 5971a Israel 3478, whom 834 God 430 went 1980 to redeem 6299 for Himself [as] a people 5971a, to make 7760 You a name 8034 by great 1420 and terrible 3372a things 3372a, in driving 1644 out nations 1471 from before 6440 Your people 5971a, whom 834 You redeemed 6299 out of Egypt 4714?

 17:22 “For Your people 5971a Israel 3478 You made 5414 Your own people 5971a forever 5704 5769, and You, O LORD 3068, became 1961 their God 430.

 17:23 ¶ “Now 6258, O LORD 3068, let the word 1697 that You have spoken 1696 concerning 5921 Your servant 5650 and concerning 5921 his house 1004 be established 539 forever 5704 5769, and do 6213a as You have spoken 1696.

 17:24 “Let Your name 8034 be established 539 and magnified 1431 forever 5704 5769, saying 559, ‘The LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 is the God 430 of Israel 3478, [even] a God 430 to Israel 3478; and the house 1004 of David 1732 Your servant 5650 is established 3559 before 6440 You.’

 17:25 “For You, O my God 430, have revealed 1540 241 to Your servant 5650 that You will build 1129 for him a house 1004; therefore 5921 3651 Your servant 5650 has found 4672 [courage] to pray 6419 before 6440 You.

 17:26 “Now 6258, O LORD 3068, You are God 430, and have promised 1696 this 2088 good 2899b thing 2899b to Your servant 5650.

 17:27 “And now 6258 it has pleased 2974 You to bless 1288 the house 1004 of Your servant 5650, that it may continue 1961 forever 5769 before 6440 You; for You, O LORD 3068, have blessed 1288, and it is blessed 1288 forever 5769.”
