1 Hiram's kindness to David. 2 David's felicity in people, wives, and children. 8 His two victories over the Philistines.

 14:1 Now Hiram 2438 king 4428 of Tyre 6865 sent 7971 messengers 4397 to David 1732 with cedar 730 trees 6086, masons 2796 7023 and carpenters 2796 6086, to build 1129 a house 1004 for him.

 14:2 And David 1732 realized 3045 that the LORD 3068 had established 3559 him as king 4428 over 5921 Israel 3478, [and] that his kingdom 4438 was highly 4605 exalted 5375, for the sake 5668 of His people 5971a Israel 3478.

 14:3 ¶ Then David 1732 took 3947 more 5750 wives 802 at Jerusalem 3389, and David 1732 became 3205 the father 3205 of more 5750 sons 1121 and daughters 1323.

 14:4 These 428 are the names 8034 of the children 3205 born 3205 [to him] in Jerusalem 3389: Shammua 8051, Shobab 7727, Nathan 5416, Solomon 8010,

 14:5 Ibhar 2984, Elishua 474, Elpelet 467,

 14:6 Nogah 5052, Nepheg 5298, Japhia 3309,

 14:7 Elishama 476, Beeliada 1182 and Eliphelet 467.

 14:8 ¶ When the Philistines 6430 heard 8085 that David 1732 had been anointed 4886 king 4428 over 5921 all 3605 Israel 3478, all 3605 the Philistines 6430 went 5927 up in search 1245 of David 1732; and David 1732 heard 8085 of it and went 3318 out against 6440 them.

 14:9 Now the Philistines 6430 had come 935 and made 6584 a raid 6584 in the valley 6010 of Rephaim 7497.

 14:10 David 1732 inquired 7592 of God 430, saying 559, “Shall I go 5927 up against 5921 the Philistines 6430? And will You give 5414 them into my hand 3027?” Then the LORD 3068 said 559 to him, “Go 5927 up, for I will give 5414 them into your hand 3027.”

 14:11 So they came 5927 up to Baal-perazim 1188, and David 1732 defeated 5221 them there 8033; and David 1732 said 559, “God 430 has broken 6555 through 6555 my enemies 340 by my hand 3027, like the breakthrough 6556 of waters 4325.” Therefore 5921 3651 they named 7121 8034 that place 4725 Baal-perazim 1188.

 14:12 They abandoned 5800a their gods 430 there 8033; so David 1732 gave 559 the order 559 and they were burned 8313 with fire 784.

 14:13 ¶ The Philistines 6430 made 6584 yet 5750 another 3254 raid 6584 in the valley 6010.

 14:14 David 1732 inquired 7592 again 5750 of God 430, and God 430 said 559 to him, “You shall not go 5927 up after 310 them; circle 5437 around 5437 behind 4480 5921 them and come 935 at them in front 4136 of the balsam 1057 trees 1057.

 14:15 “It shall be when you hear 8085 the sound 6963 of marching 6807a in the tops 7218 of the balsam 1057 trees 1057, then 227 you shall go 3318 out to battle 4421, for God 430 will have gone 3318 out before 6440 you to strike 5221 the army 4264 of the Philistines 6430.”

 14:16 David 1732 did 6213a just 3512c as God 430 had commanded 6680 him, and they struck 5221 down 5221 the army 4264 of the Philistines 6430 from Gibeon 1391 even as far 5704 as Gezer 1507.

 14:17 Then the fame 8034 of David 1732 went 3318 out into all 3605 the lands 776; and the LORD 3068 brought 5414 the fear 6343 of him on all 3605 the nations 1471.
