אֱמֹרִים,°

[were] on the side°

Yardën
יַרדֵּן°
westward,°
and all°
the kings°
of the
Cæna`ánîm
כְּנַעֲנִים,°
which°
[were] by°
the sea,°
heard°°°
that°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
had dried up°°°
the waters°
of
Yardën
יַרדֵּן°
from before°°
the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
until°
we were passed over,°°
that their heart°
melted,°°
neither°
was°
there spirit°
in them any more,°
because°°
of the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

5:1 ¶
And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Emorim, which [were] on the side of Yarden westward, and all the kings of the Kenaanim, which [were] by the sea, heard that Yahweh had dried up the waters of Yarden from before the children of Yisrael, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Yisrael. |

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,°
Make°°
thee sharp°°
knives,°
and circumcise°°
again°°°
the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
the second°
time.° |

5:2 ¶
At that time Yahweh said unto Yehoshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Yisrael the second time. |

And
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
made°°
him sharp°°
knives,°
and circumcised°°°
the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
at°
the hill°
of the foreskins.° |

And Yehoshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Yisrael at the hill of the foreskins. |

5:4
And this°
[is] the cause°
why°
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
did circumcise:°°
All°
the people°
that came out°°
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,°°
[that were] males,°
[even] all°
the men°°
of war,°
died°°
in the wilderness°
by the way,°
after they came out°°
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם.°° |

And this [is] the cause why Yehoshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Mitzrayim, [that were] males, [even] all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Mitzrayim. |

circumcised:°°
but all°
the people°
[that were] born°
in the wilderness°
by the way°
as they came forth°°
out of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם,°°
[them] they had not°
circumcised.°° |

in the wilderness,°

because°
they obeyed°°

the voice°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:°
unto whom°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
sware°°
that he would not°
shew°°
them°
the land,°
which°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
sware°°
unto their fathers°
that he would give°°
us, a land°
that floweth°°
with milk°
and honey.° |

5:6
For the children of Yisrael walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people [that were] men of war, which came out of Mitzrayim, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of Yahweh: unto whom Yahweh sware that he would not shew them the land, which Yahweh sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey. |

circumcised:°°
for°
they were°
uncircumcised,°
because°
they had not°
circumcised°°
them by the way.° |

And their children, [whom] he raised up in their stead, them Yehoshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way. |

And it came to pass,°
when°
they had done°°
circumcising°°
all°
the people,°
that they abode°°
in their places°
in the camp,°
till°
they were whole.°° |

the reproach°

Mixrayim

you. Wherefore the name°
of the place°
is called°°
Gilgäl
גִּלגָּל°
unto°
this°
day.° |

And Yahweh said unto Yehoshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Mitzrayim from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day. |
|
5:10 ¶
And the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
encamped°°
in
Gilgäl
גִּלגָּל,°
and kept°°°
the passover°
on the fourteenth°°
day°
of the month°
at even°
in the plains°
of
Yærîçô
יְרִיחוֹ.° |

5:10 ¶
And the children of Yisrael encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Yericho. |

And they did eat°°
of the old corn°°
of the land°
on the morrow°
after°°
the passover,°
unleavened cakes,°
and parched°°
[corn] in the selfsame°°
day.° |

of the fruit°°
of the land°

Cænä`an
כְּנָעַן°

5:12 ¶
And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Yisrael manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Kenaan that year. |

5:13 ¶
And it came to pass,°
when
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
was°
by
Yærîçô
יְרִיחוֹ,°
that he lifted up°°
his eyes°
and looked,°°
and, behold,°
there stood°°
a man°
over against°
him with his sword°
drawn°°
in his hand:°
and
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
went°°°
unto him,°
and said°°
unto him, [Art] thou°
for us, or°
for our adversaries?° |

5:13 ¶
And it came to pass, when Yehoshua was by Yericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Yehoshua went unto him, and said unto him, [Art] thou for us, or for our adversaries? |
|

And he said,°°
Nay;°
but°
[as] captain°
of the host°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
am I°
now°
come.°°
And
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
fell°°
on°
his face°
to the earth,°
and did worship,°°
and said°°
unto him, What°
saith°°
my
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן°
unto°
his servant?° |

And he said, Nay; but [as] captain of the host of Yahweh am I now come. And Yehoshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my adon unto his servant? |

And the captain°

said°°
unto°
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ,°
Loose°°
thy shoe°
from off°°
thy foot;°
for°
the place°
whereon°°
thou°
standest°°
[is] holy.°
And
Yæhôšuå`
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ°
did°°

And the captain of Yahweh's host said unto Yehoshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy. And Yehoshua did so. |
