 41:1 ¶ Now it came to pass° in the seventh° month,° [that] Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° the son° of ´Élîšämä` אֱלִישָׁמָע,° of the seed°° royal,° and the princes° of the king,° even ten° men°° with° him, came°° unto° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה° the son° of ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם° to Mixpà מִצפָּה;°° and there° they did eat°° bread° together° in Mixpà מִצפָּה.°°

 41:1 ¶ Now it came to pass in the seventh month, [that] Yishmael the son of Nethanyah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came unto Gedalyah the son of Achiqam to Mitzpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mitzpah.

 41:2 Then arose°° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה,° and the ten° men°° that° were° with° him, and smote°°° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה° the son° of ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם° the son° of Šäfän שָׁפָן° with the sword,° and slew°° him, whom° the king° of Bävel בָּבֶל° had made governor°° over the land.°

 41:2 Then arose Yishmael the son of Nethanyah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedalyah the son of Achiqam the son of Shafan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Bavel had made governor over the land.

 41:3 Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° also slew°° all° the Yæhûđîm יְהוּדִים° that° were° with° him, [even] with° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה,° at Mixpà מִצפָּה,° and the Caŝdîm כַּשׂדִּים° that° were found°° there,° [and] the men°° of war.°

 41:3 Yishmael also slew all the Yehudim that were with him, [even] with Gedalyah, at Mitzpah, and the Kasdim that were found there, [and] the men of war.

 41:4 And it came to pass° the second° day° after he had slain°°° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה,° and no° man° knew°° [it],

 41:4 And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedalyah, and no man knew [it],

 41:5 That there came°° certain°° from Šæȼem שְׁכֶם,°° from Šîlò שִׁילֹה,°° and from Šömrôn שֹׁמרוֹן,°° [even] fourscore° men,° having their beards° shaven,°° and their clothes° rent,°° and having cut°° themselves,° with offerings° and incense° in their hand,° to bring°° [them] to the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה.°

 41:5 That there came certain from Shekhem, from Shiloh, and from Shomron, [even] fourscore men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring [them] to the house of Yahweh.

 41:6 And Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° went forth°° from° Mixpà מִצפָּה° to meet°° them, weeping°° all along°° as he went:°° and it came to pass,° as he met°° them, he said°° unto° them, Come°° to° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה° the son° of ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם.°

 41:6 And Yishmael the son of Nethanyah went forth from Mitzpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedalyah the son of Achiqam.

 41:7 And it was° [so], when they came°° into° the midst° of the city,° that Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° slew°° them, [and cast them] into° the midst° of the pit,° he,° and the men°° that° [were] with° him.

 41:7 And it was [so], when they came into the midst of the city, that Yishmael the son of Nethanyah slew them, [and cast them] into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that [were] with him.

 41:8 But ten° men°° were found°° among them that said°° unto° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל,° Slay°° us not:° for° we have° treasures° in the field,° of wheat,° and of barley,° and of oil,° and of honey.° So he forbare,°° and slew°° them not° among° their brethren.°

 41:8 But ten men were found among them that said unto Yishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

 41:9 Now the pit° wherein°° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° had cast°°° all° the dead bodies° of the men,°° whom° he had slain°° because° of Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה,° [was] it° which° ´Äsä´ אָסָא° the king° had made°° for fear°° of Ba`šä´ בַּעשָׁא° king° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל:° [and] Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° filled°° it with [them that were] slain.°

 41:9 Now the pit wherein Yishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedalyah, [was] it which Asa the king had made for fear of Basha king of Yisrael: [and] Yishmael the son of Nethanyah filled it with [them that were] slain.

 41:10 Then Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° carried away captive°°° all° the residue° of the people° that° [were] in Mixpà מִצפָּה,° [even]° the king's° daughters,° and all° the people° that remained°° in Mixpà מִצפָּה,° whom° Nævûzar´áđän נְבוּזַראֲדָן° the captain° of the guard° had committed°° to° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה° the son° of ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם:° and Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° carried them away captive,°° and departed°°° to go over°° to° the `Ammönîm עַמֹּנִים.°°

 41:10 Then Yishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that [were] in Mitzpah, [even] the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mitzpah, whom Nevuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedalyah the son of Achiqam: and Yishmael the son of Nethanyah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonim.

 41:11 ¶ But when Yôçänän יוֹחָנָן° the son° of Kärëåç קָרֵחַ,° and all° the captains° of the forces° that° [were] with° him, heard°° of° all° the evil° that° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° had done,°°

 41:11 ¶ But when Yochanan the son of Qareach, and all the captains of the forces that [were] with him, heard of all the evil that Yishmael the son of Nethanyah had done,

 41:12 Then they took°°° all° the men,°° and went°°° to fight°° with° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה,° and found°° him by° the great° waters° that° [are] in Giv`ôn גִּבעוֹן.°

 41:12 Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Yishmael the son of Nethanyah, and found him by the great waters that [are] in Givon.

 41:13 Now it came to pass,° [that] when all° the people° which° [were] with° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° saw°°° Yôçänän יוֹחָנָן° the son° of Kärëåç קָרֵחַ,° and all° the captains° of the forces° that° [were] with° him, then they were glad.°°

 41:13 Now it came to pass, [that] when all the people which [were] with Yishmael saw Yochanan the son of Qareach, and all the captains of the forces that [were] with him, then they were glad.

 41:14 So all° the people° that° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° had carried away captive°° from° Mixpà מִצפָּה° cast about°° and returned,°° and went°°° unto° Yôçänän יוֹחָנָן° the son° of Kärëåç קָרֵחַ.°

 41:14 So all the people that Yishmael had carried away captive from Mitzpah cast about and returned, and went unto Yochanan the son of Qareach.

 41:15 But Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° escaped°° from°° Yôçänän יוֹחָנָן° with eight° men,°° and went°°° to° the `Ammönîm עַמֹּנִים.°°

 41:15 But Yishmael the son of Nethanyah escaped from Yochanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonim.

 41:16 Then took°° Yôçänän יוֹחָנָן° the son° of Kärëåç קָרֵחַ,° and all° the captains° of the forces° that° [were] with° him,° all° the remnant° of the people° whom° he had recovered°° from°° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה,° from° Mixpà מִצפָּה,° after° [that] he had slain°°° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה° the son° of ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם,° [even] mighty° men°° of war,° and the women,° and the children,° and the eunuchs,° whom° he had brought again°° from Giv`ôn גִּבעוֹן:°°

 41:16 Then took Yochanan the son of Qareach, and all the captains of the forces that [were] with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Yishmael the son of Nethanyah, from Mitzpah, after [that] he had slain Gedalyah the son of Achiqam, [even] mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Givon:

 41:17 And they departed,°°° and dwelt° in°° the habitation° of Cimhäm כִּמהָם,° which° is by° Bêŧ Läçem בֵּית־לָחֶם,° to go°°° to enter°° into° Mixrayim מִצרַיִם,°

 41:17 And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Kimham, which is by Beth-Lachem, to go to enter into Mitzrayim,

 41:18 Because°° of the Caŝdîm כַּשׂדִּים:° for° they were afraid°° of°° them, because° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל° the son° of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה° had slain°°° Gæđalyà גְּדַליָה° the son° of ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם,° whom° the king° of Bävel בָּבֶל° made governor°° in the land.°

 41:18 Because of the Kasdim: for they were afraid of them, because Yishmael the son of Nethanyah had slain Gedalyah the son of Achiqam, whom the king of Bavel made governor in the land.
