Brenton's Septuagint (LXX) - Holy Name KJV
LXX < < Genesis{gr.Genesis} 48 > > KJV
1 Joseph with his sons visiteth his sick father. 2 Jacob strengtheneth himself to bless them. 3 He repeateth the promise. 5 He taketh Ephraim and Manasseh as his own. 7 He telleth Joseph of his mother's grave. 9 He blesseth Ephraim and Manasseh. 17 He preferreth the younger before the elder. 21 He prophesieth their return to Canaan.
48:1 ¶
And it came to pass after these things, that it was reported to Joseph, Behold, thy father is ill; and, having taken his two sons, Manasseh{gr.Manasse} and Ephraim, he came to Jacob. |
|
48:1 ¶
And it came to pass°
after°
these°
things,°
that [one] told°°
Joseph,°
Behold,°
thy father°
[is] sick:°°
and he took°°
with°
him°
his two°
sons,°°
Manasseh°
and Ephraim.° |
48:2
And it was reported to Jacob, saying, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh to thee; and Israel having strengthened himself, sat upon the bed. |
|
48:2
And [one] told°°
Jacob,°
and said,°°
Behold,°
thy son°
Joseph°
cometh°°
unto°
thee: and Israel°
strengthened°°
himself,°
and sat°°
upon°
the bed.° |
48:3
And Jacob said to Joseph, My God appeared to me in Luza, in the land of Canaan{gr.Chanaan}, and blessed me, |
|
48:3
And Jacob°
said°°
unto°
Joseph,°
El°
Shaddai°
appeared°°
unto°
me at Luz°
in the land°
of Canaan,°
and blessed°°
me, |
48:4
and said to me, Behold, I will increase thee, and multiply thee, and will make of thee multitudes of nations; and I will give this land to thee, and to thy seed after thee, for an everlasting possession. |
|
48:4
And said°°
unto°
me, Behold,°
I will make thee fruitful,°°
and multiply°°
thee, and I will make°°
of thee a multitude°
of people;°
and will give°°°
this°
land°
to thy seed°
after°
thee°
[for] an everlasting°
possession.° |
48:5 ¶
Now then thy two sons, who were born to thee in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, before I came to thee into Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh{gr.Manasse}, as Reuben{gr.Ruben} and Simeon{gr.Symeon} they shall be mine. |
|
48:5 ¶
And now°
thy two°
sons,°
Ephraim°
and Manasseh,°
which were born°°
unto thee in the land°
of Egypt°
before°
I came°°
unto°
thee into Egypt,°
[are] mine; as Reuben°
and Simeon,°
they shall be°
mine. |
48:6
And the children which thou shalt beget hereafter, shall be in the name of their brethren; they shall be named after their inheritances. |
|
48:6
And thy issue,°
which°
thou begettest°°
after°
them, shall be°
thine, [and] shall be called°°
after°
the name°
of their brethren°
in their inheritance.° |
48:7
And as for me, when I came out of Padanaram{gr.Mesopotamia} of Syria, Rachel, thy mother, died in the land of Canaan{gr.Chanaan}, as I drew night to the horse-course of Chabratha of the land [of Canaan{gr.Chanaan}], so as to come to Ephrath{gr.Ephratha}; and I buried her in the road of the course; this is Bethlehem. |
|
48:7
And as for me,°
when I came°°
from Padan,°°
Rachel°
died°°
by°
me in the land°
of Canaan°
in the way,°
when°
yet°
[there was] but a little°
way°
to come°°
unto Ephrath:°
and I buried°
her°°
there°
in the way°
of Ephrath;°
the same°
[is] Bethlehem.° |
48:8
And when Israel saw the sons of Joseph, he said, Who are these to thee? |
|
48:8
And Israel°
beheld°°
Joseph's°°
sons,°
and said,°°
Who°
[are] these?° |
48:9
And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God gave me here; and Jacob said, Bring me them, that I may bless them. |
|
48:9
And Joseph°
said°°
unto°
his father,°
They°
[are] my sons,°
whom°
Elohim°
hath given°°
me in this°
[place]. And he said,°°
Bring°
them,°°
I pray thee,°
unto°
me, and I will bless°°
them. |
48:10
Now the eyes of Israel were dim through age, and he could not see; and he brought them near to him, and he kissed them, and embraced them. |
|
48:10
Now the eyes°
of Israel°
were dim°°
for age,°°
[so that] he could°°
not°
see.°°
And he brought them near°°°
unto°
him; and he kissed°°
them, and embraced°°
them. |
48:11
And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I have not been deprived of [seeing] thy face, and lo! God has showed me thy seed also. |
|
48:11
And Israel°
said°°
unto°
Joseph,°
I had not°
thought°°
to see°°
thy face:°
and, lo,°
Elohim°
hath shewed°°
me also°°
thy seed.° |
48:12
And Joseph brought them out from [between] his knees, and they did reverence to him, with their face to the ground. |
|
48:12
And Joseph°
brought them out°°°
from between°°
his knees,°
and he bowed°°
himself°
with his face°
to the earth.° |
48:13
And Joseph took his two sons, both Ephraim in his right hand, but on the left of Israel, and Manasseh{gr.Manasse} on his left hand, but on the right of Israel, and brought them near to him. |
|
48:13
And Joseph°
took°°°
them both,°°
Ephraim°
in his right hand°
toward Israel's°
left hand,°°
and Manasseh°
in his left hand°
toward Israel's°
right hand,°°
and brought [them] near°°
unto°
him. |
48:14
But Israel having stretched out his right hand, laid it on the head of Ephraim, and he was the younger; and his left hand on the head of Manasseh{gr.Manasse}, [guiding] his hands crosswise. |
|
48:14
And Israel°
stretched out°°°
his right hand,°
and laid°°
[it] upon°
Ephraim's°
head,°
who°
[was] the younger,°
and his left hand°
upon°
Manasseh's°
head,°
guiding°°
his hands°
wittingly;°°°°
for°
Manasseh°
[was] the firstborn.° |
48:15 ¶
And he blessed them and said, The God in whose sight my fathers were well pleasing, [even] Abraham{gr.Abraam} and Isaac, the God who continues to feed me from my youth until this day; |
|
48:15 ¶
And he blessed°°°
Joseph,°
and said,°°
Elohim,°
before°
whom°
my fathers°
Abraham°
and Isaac°
did walk,°°
the Elohim°
which fed°°
me all my life long°°
unto°
this°
day,° |
48:16
the angel who delivers me from all evils, bless these boys, and my name shall be called upon them, and the name of my fathers, Abraham{gr.Abraam} and Isaac; and let them be increased to a great multitude on the earth. |
|
48:16
The Angel°
which redeemed°°
me from all°°
evil,°
bless°°°
the lads;°
and let my name°
be named°°
on them, and the name°
of my fathers°
Abraham°
and Isaac;°
and let them grow°°
into a multitude°
in the midst°
of the earth.° |
48:17
And Joseph having seen that his father put his right hand on the head of Ephraim-- it seemed grievous to him; and Joseph took hold of the hand of his father, to remove it from the head of Ephraim to the head of Manasseh{gr.Manasse}. |
|
48:17
And when Joseph°
saw°°
that°
his father°
laid°°
his right°
hand°
upon°
the head°
of Ephraim,°
it displeased°°°°
him: and he held up°°
his father's°
hand,°
to remove°°
it from°°
Ephraim's°
head°
unto°
Manasseh's°
head.° |
48:18
And Joseph said to his father, Not so, father; for this is the first-born; lay thy right-hand upon his head. |
|
48:18
And Joseph°
said°°
unto°
his father,°
Not°
so,°
my father:°
for°
this°
[is] the firstborn;°
put°°
thy right hand°
upon°
his head.° |
48:19
And he would not, but said, I know it, son, I know it; he also shall be a people, and he shall be exalted, but his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. |
|
48:19
And his father°
refused,°°
and said,°°
I know°°
[it], my son,°
I know°°
[it]: he°
also°
shall become°
a people,°
and he°
also°
shall be great:°°
but truly°
his younger°
brother°
shall be greater°°
than°
he, and his seed°
shall become°
a multitude°
of nations.° |
48:20
And he blessed them in that day, saying, In you shall Israel be blessed, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and Manasseh{gr.Manasse}; and he set Ephraim before Manasseh{gr.Manasse}. |
|
48:20
And he blessed°°
them that°
day,°
saying,°°
In thee shall Israel°
bless,°°
saying,°°
Elohim°
make°°
thee as Ephraim°
and as Manasseh:°
and he set°°°
Ephraim°
before°
Manasseh.° |
48:21
And Israel said to Joseph, Behold, I die; and God shall be with you, and restore you to the land of your fathers. |
|
48:21
And Israel°
said°°
unto°
Joseph,°
Behold,°
I°
die:°°
but Elohim°
shall be°
with°
you, and bring you again°°°
unto°
the land°
of your fathers.° |
48:22
And I give to thee Shechem{gr.Sicima}, a select portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorites with my sword and bow. |
|
48:22
Moreover I°
have given°°
to thee one°
portion°
above°
thy brethren,°
which°
I took°°
out of the hand°°
of the Amorite°
with my sword°
and with my bow.° |
