4:1 ¶
I BESEECH of you, therefore, I, the bound one for our Lord, that you walk as is worthy of the calling wherewith you are called, |
|
4:1
I therefore, a prisoner in our Lord, beseech of you, that ye walk, (as it becometh the calling wherewith ye are called,) |
4:2
in all lowliness of mind, and composedness, and long-suffering; and be patient towards one another in love. |
|
4:2
with all lowliness of mind, and quietness, and long suffering; and that ye be forbearing one towards another, in love. |
4:3
And be diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, |
|
4:3
And be ye solicitous to keep the unity of the Spirit, in a bond of peace; |
4:4
that you may be in one body and in one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling. |
|
4:4
so that ye may become one body, and one Spirit; even as ye are called unto one hope of your calling. |
4:5
For one is the Lord, and one the faith, and one the baptism; |
|
4:5
For, the Lord is one, and the faith one, and the baptism one; |
4:6
and one is Aloha, the Father of all, and over all, and by all, and in us all. |
|
4:6
and one God is the Father of all, and over all, and by all, and in us all. |
4:7
But unto each of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Meshiha. |
|
4:7
And to each of us grace is given, according to the measure of the gift of the Messiah. |
4:8
Wherefore it is said, He ascended on high; He led captive captivity, And gave gifts unto men. |
|
4:8
Wherefore it is said: He ascended on high, and carried captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. |
4:9
But he who ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the low places of the earth? |
|
4:9
Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also previously descended to the interior [regions] of the earth? |
4:10
He who descended, is he who also ascended above all the heavens, to fulfil all. |
|
4:10
He who descended, is also the same that ascended up, high above all the heavens, that he might fulfill all things. |
4:11
And he gave some who (are) apostles, and some who (are) prophets, and some who (are) evangelists, and some who (are) pastors, and some who (are) doctors; |
|
4:11
And he gave some, legates; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers: |
4:12
for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edification of the (church of the) Meshiha, |
|
4:12
for perfecting the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edification of the body of the Messiah; |
4:13
until we be all one in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of Aloha, and one man perfect in the measure of the stature of his completeness; |
|
4:13
until we all become one and the same, in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, and one complete man according to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Messiah: |
4:14
and that we be no [more] children, agitated and altered by every wind of fraudulent doctrines of men, which in their craftiness they fabricate deceptively in order to seduce, |
|
4:14
and that we might not be children, agitated and turned about by every wind of the crafty doctrines of men who plot to seduce by their subtilty: |
4:15
but be confirmed in our love, that whatever is ours may increase in the Meshiha, who is the head, |
|
4:15
but that we might be established in our love; and that every thing in us might progress in the Messiah, who is the head: |
4:16
by whom the whole body is increased and compacted in all the limbs, according to the gift which is given in proportion to every member for the increase of the body itself, that in love its structure might be completed. |
|
4:16
and from him [it is], the whole body is framed together and compacted by all the junctures, according to the gift that is imparted by measure to each member, for the growth of the body; that his edifice may be perfected in love. |
4:17 ¶
BUT this I say and testify in the Lord, that from henceforth you may not walk as the rest of the Gentiles, who walk in the vanity of their minds, |
|
4:17
And this I say, and testify in the Lord, that henceforth ye walk not as the other Gentiles, who walk in the vanity of their mind: |
4:18
and are darkened in their understandings, and are alienated from the life of Aloha on account of their ignorance, and on account of the blindness of their hearts; |
|
4:18
and they are dark in their understandings, and are alienated from the life of God, because there is not in them knowledge, and because of the blindness of their heart. |
4:19
who are cut off from their hope, and have delivered themselves up to lasciviousness and to the working of all uncleanness in their greediness. |
|
4:19
They have cut off their hope, and have given themselves over to lasciviousness, and to the practice of all uncleanness in their greediness. |
4:20
But you have not thus learned the Meshiha, |
|
4:20
But ye have not so learned the Messiah; |
4:21
if really you have heard him and learned as the truth is in Jeshu; |
|
4:21
if ye have truly heard him, and by him have learned as the truth is in Jesus. |
4:22
but that you put from you your former habitudes, the old man who is corrupt in deceitful lusts, |
|
4:22
But [ye have learned], that ye should lay aside your former practices, the old man that is corrupted with the lusts of error; |
4:23
and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, |
|
4:23
and should be renewed in the spirit of your minds; |
4:24
and wear the new man, who by Aloha is created in righteousness and in the sanctity of truth. |
|
4:24
and should put on the new man, that is created by God in righteousness and in the holiness of truth. |
4:25 ¶
WHEREFORE let lying cease from you, and speak the truth every man with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. |
|
4:25
Wherefore, put away from you lying, and speak ye the truth each with his neighbor; for we are members one of another. |
4:26
Be angry and sin not, and let not the sun set upon your wrath, |
|
4:26
Be ye angry, and sin not: and let not the sun go down upon your wrath. |
4:27
and give no place to the accuser. |
|
4:27
And give no place to the Accuser. |
4:28
And let him who hath stolen henceforth steal not, but labour with his hands and do good, that he may have to give to him who needeth. |
|
4:28
And let him that stole, steal no more; but let him labor with his hands, and do good acts; that he may have to give to him who needeth. |
4:29
Let no hateful word come out of your mouth, but that which is comely and useful for edification, that it may communicate grace to those who hear. |
|
4:29
Let no hateful language come from your mouth, but that which is decorous, and useful for edification, that it may convey grace to those who hear. |
4:30
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of Aloha, by whom you have been sealed unto the day of redemption. |
|
4:30
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed for the day of redemption. |
4:31
Let all bitterness, and heat, and anger, and clamour, and scandal be taken from you, with all malice; |
|
4:31
Let all bitterness, and anger, and wrath, and clamoring, and reviling, be taken from you, with all malice: |
4:32
and be gentle one with another, and affectionate, and forgive one another, even as Aloha in the Meshiha hath forgiven us. |
|
4:32
and be ye affectionate towards one another, and sympathetic; and forgive ye one another, as God by the Messiah hath forgiven us. |
