The word of Yahweh came unto me again, saying, |

Whatº
mean ye, that yeº
useºº
thisºº
proverbº
concerningº
the landº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
saying,ºº
The fathersº
have eatenºº
sour grapes,º
and the children'sº
teethº
are set on edge?ºº |
18:2
What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Yisrael, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? |

[As] Iº
live,º
saithºº
´Áðönäy
אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
ye shall notº
haveº
[occasion] any moreº
to useºº
thisº
proverbº
in
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.º |
18:3
[As] I live, saith Adonay Yahweh, ye shall not have [occasion] any more to use this proverb in Yisrael. |

Behold,º
allº
soulsº
are mine; as the soulº
of the father,º
so also the soulº
of the sonº
is mine: the soulº
that sinneth,ºº
itº
shall die.ºº |
18:4
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. |

18:5 ¶
But ifº
a manº
beº
just,º
and doºº
that which is lawfulº
and right,º |
18:5 ¶
But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, |
|
18:6
[And] hath notº
eatenºº
uponº
the mountains,º
neitherº
hath lifted upºº
his eyesº
toº
the idolsº
of the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
neitherº
hath defiledºº
his neighbour'sº
wife,º
neitherº
hath come nearºº
toº
a menstruousº
woman,º |
18:6
[And] hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Yisrael, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman, |

18:7
And hath notº
oppressedºº
any,º
[but] hath restoredºº
to the debtorº
his pledge,º
hath spoiledºº
noneº
by violence,º
hath givenºº
his breadº
to the hungry,º
and hath coveredºº
the nakedº
with a garment;º |
18:7
And hath not oppressed any, [but] hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment; |

18:8
He [that] hath notº
given forthºº
upon usury,º
neitherº
hath takenºº
any increase,º
[that] hath withdrawnºº
his handº
from iniquity,ºº
hath executedºº
trueº
judgmentº
betweenº
manº
and man,º |
18:8
He [that] hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, [that] hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man, |

Hath walkedºº
in my statutes,º
and hath keptºº
my judgments,º
to dealºº
truly;º
heº
[is] just,º
he shall surelyºº
live,ºº
saithºº

Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º |
18:9
Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he [is] just, he shall surely live, saith Adonay Yahweh. |

18:10 ¶
If he begetºº
a sonº
[that is] a robber,º
a shedderºº
of blood,º
and [that] doethºº
the likeº
to [any] oneºº
of theseºº
[things], |
18:10 ¶
If he beget a son [that is] a robber, a shedder of blood, and [that] doeth the like to [any] one of these [things], |

And thatº
doethºº
notºº
anyº
of thoseº
[duties], butº
evenº
hath eatenºº
uponº
the mountains,º
and defiledºº
his neighbour'sº
wife,º |
18:11
And that doeth not any of those [duties], but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife, |

18:12
Hath oppressedºº
the poorº
and needy,º
hath spoiledºº
by violence,º
hath notº
restoredºº
the pledge,º
and hath lifted upºº
his eyesº
toº
the idols,º
hath committedºº
abomination,º |
18:12
Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination, |

18:13
Hath given forthºº
upon usury,º
and hath takenºº
increase:º
shall he then live?ººº
he shall notº
live:ºº
he hath doneººº
allº
theseº
abominations;º
he shall surelyºº
die;ºº
his bloodº
shall beº
upon him. |
18:13
Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him. |

18:14 ¶
Now, lo,º
[if] he begetºº
a son,º
that seethººº
allº
his father'sº
sinsº
whichº
he hath done,ºº
and considereth,ºº
and doethºº
notº
such like,º |
18:14 ¶
Now, lo, [if] he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like, |

[That] hath notº
eatenºº
uponº
the mountains,º
neitherº
hath lifted upºº
his eyesº
toº
the idolsº
of the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
hath notº
defiledºº
his neighbour'sºº
wife,º |
18:15
[That] hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Yisrael, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife, |

Neitherº
hath oppressedºº
any,º
hath notº
withholdenºº
the pledge,º
neitherº
hath spoiledºº
by violence,º
[but] hath givenºº
his breadº
to the hungry,º
and hath coveredºº

my judgments,º

in my statutes;º

for the iniquityº
of his father,º
he shall surelyºº
live.ºº |
18:17
[That] hath taken off his hand from the poor, [that] hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live. |

[As for] his father,º
becauseº
he cruellyº
oppressed,ººº
spoiledºº
his brotherº
by violence,º
and didºº
[that] whichº
[is] notº
goodº
amongº
his people,º
lo,º
even he shall dieºº
in his iniquity.º |
18:18
[As for] his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did [that] which [is] not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity. |

18:19 ¶
Yet sayºº
ye, Why?º
doth notº
the sonº
bearºº
the iniquityº
of the father?º
When the sonº
hath doneºº
that which is lawfulº
and right,º
[and] hath keptººº
allº
my statutes,º
and hath doneºº
them, he shall surelyºº
live.ºº |
18:19 ¶
Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, [and] hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. |

The soulº
that sinneth,ºº
itº
shall die.ºº
The sonº
shall notº
bearºº
the iniquityº
of the father,º
neitherº
shall the fatherº
bearºº
the iniquityº
of the son:º
the righteousnessº
of the righteousº
shall beº
uponº
him, and the wickednessº
of the wickedº
shall beº
uponº
him. |
18:20
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. |

But ifº
the wickedº
will turnºº
from allºº
his sinsº
thatº
he hath committed,ºº
and keepººº
allº
my statutes,º
and doºº
that which is lawfulº
and right,º
he shall surelyºº
live,ºº
he shall notº
die.ºº |
18:21
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. |

Allº
his transgressionsº
thatº
he hath committed,ºº
they shall notº
be mentionedºº
unto him: in his righteousnessº
thatº
he hath doneºº
he shall live.ºº |
18:22
All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. |

Have I any pleasureºº
at allºº
that the wickedº
should die?º
saithºº

אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
[and] notº
that he should returnºº
from his ways,ºº
and live?ºº |
18:23
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith Adonay Yahweh: [and] not that he should return from his ways, and live? |

18:24 ¶
But when the righteousº
turneth awayºº
from his righteousness,ºº
and committethºº
iniquity,º
[and] doethºº
according to allº
the abominationsº
thatº
the wickedº
[man] doeth,ºº
shall he live?ººº
Allº
his righteousnessº
thatº
he hath doneºº
shall notº
be mentioned:ºº
in his trespassººº
thatº
he hath trespassed,ºº
and in his sinº
thatº
he hath sinned,ºº
in them shall he die.ºº |
18:24 ¶
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. |

18:25 ¶
Yet ye say,ºº
The wayº

Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
is not equal.ººº
Hearºº
now,º
O houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;º
Is notº
my wayº
equal?ºº
are notº
your waysº
unequal?ººº |
18:25 ¶
Yet ye say, The way of Yahweh is not equal. Hear now, O house of Yisrael; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? |

18:26
When a righteousº
[man] turneth awayºº
from his righteousness,ºº
and committethºº
iniquity,º
and diethºº
inº
them; for his iniquityº
thatº
he hath doneºº
shall he die.ºº |
18:26
When a righteous [man] turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. |

18:27
Again, when the wickedº
[man] turneth awayºº
from his wickednessºº
thatº
he hath committed,ºº
and doethºº
that which is lawfulº
and right,º
heº
shall saveºº
his soulº
alive.ºººº |
18:27
Again, when the wicked [man] turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. |

18:28
Because he considereth,ºº
and turneth awayºº
from allºº
his transgressionsº
thatº
he hath committed,ºº
he shall surelyºº
live,ºº
he shall notº
die.ºº |
18:28
Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. |

Yet saithºº
the houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
The wayº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
is not equal.ººº
O houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
are notº
my waysº
equal?ºº
are notº
your waysº
unequal?ººº |
18:29
Yet saith the house of Yisrael, The way of Yahweh is not equal. O house of Yisrael, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal? |

18:30
Thereforeº
I will judgeºº
you, O houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
every oneº
according to his ways,º
saithºº
´Áðönäy
אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º
Repent,ºº
and turnºº
[yourselves] from allºº
your transgressions;º
so iniquityº
shall notº
beº
your ruin.º |
18:30
Therefore I will judge you, O house of Yisrael, every one according to his ways, saith Adonay Yahweh. Repent, and turn [yourselves] from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. |

18:31 ¶
Cast awayºº
fromºº
youº
allº
your transgressions,º
wherebyº
ye have transgressed;ºº
and makeºº
you a newº
heartº
and a newº
spirit:º
for whyº
will ye die,ºº
O houseº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל?º |
18:31 ¶
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Yisrael? |

Forº
I have no pleasureººº
in the deathº
of him that dieth,ºº
saithºº
´Áðönäy
אֲדֹנָיº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
wherefore turnºº
[yourselves], and liveºº
ye. |
18:32
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith Adonay Yahweh: wherefore turn [yourselves], and live ye. |
