23:1 ¶
Now these [be] the last words of Dawid. Dawid the son of Yishay said, and the man [who was] raised up on high, the anointed of the Elohim of Yaaqov, and the sweet psalmist of Yisrael, said, |

The Spirit°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
spake°°
by me, and his word°
[was] in°
my tongue.° |

The Spirit of Yahweh spake by me, and his word [was] in my tongue. |

The

אֱלֹהִים°

יִשׂרָאֵל°

the Rock°

Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
spake°°
to me, He that ruleth°°
over°
men°
[must be] just,°
ruling°°
in the fear°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.° |

The Elohim of Yisrael said, the Rock of Yisrael spake to me, He that ruleth over men [must be] just, ruling in the fear of Elohim. |

23:4
And [he shall be] as the light°
of the morning,°
[when] the sun°
riseth,°°
[even] a morning°
without°
clouds;°
[as] the tender grass°
[springing] out of the earth°°
by clear shining°°
after rain.°° |

And [he shall be] as the light of the morning, [when] the sun riseth, [even] a morning without clouds; [as] the tender grass [springing] out of the earth by clear shining after rain. |

Although°
my house°
[be] not°
so°
with°
´Ël
אֵל;°
yet°
he hath made°°
with me an everlasting°
covenant,°
ordered°°
in all°
[things], and sure:°°
for°
[this is] all°
my salvation,°
and all°
[my] desire,°
although°
he make [it] not°
to grow.°° |

Although my house [be] not so with El; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all [things], and sure: for [this is] all my salvation, and all [my] desire, although he make [it] not to grow. |

23:6 ¶
But [the sons] of
Bæliyya`al
בְּלִיַּעַל°
[shall be] all°
of them as thorns°
thrust away,°°
because°
they cannot°
be taken°°
with hands:° |

But [the sons] of Beliyyaal [shall be] all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands: |

But the man°
[that] shall touch°°
them must be fenced°°
with iron°
and the staff°
of a spear;°
and they shall be utterly°°
burned°°
with fire°
in the [same] place.°° |

But the man [that] shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the [same] place. |

These°
[be] the names°
of the mighty men°
whom°

in the seat,°°°°

among the captains;°
the same°

עֲדִינוֹ°

[he lift up his spear] against°
eight°
hundred,°
whom he slew°
at one°

These [be] the names of the mighty men whom Dawid had: The Tachkemoni that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same [was] Adino the Etzni: [he lift up his spear] against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time. |

to battle,°
and the men°

Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
were gone away:°° |

And after him [was] Elazar the son of Dodo the Achochi, [one] of the three mighty men with Dawid, when they defied the Pelishtim [that] were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Yisrael were gone away: |

He°
arose,°°
and smote°°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
until°°
his hand°
was weary,°°
and his hand°
clave°°
unto°
the sword:°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
wrought°°
a great°
victory°
that°
day;°
and the people°
returned°°
after°
him only°
to spoil.°° |

He arose, and smote the Pelishtim until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and Yahweh wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. |

And the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים°
were gathered together°°
into a troop,°

And after him [was] Shammah the son of Age the Harari. And the Pelishtim were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Pelishtim. |

But he stood°°
in the midst°
of the ground,°
and defended°°
it, and slew°°°
the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים:°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
wrought°°
a great°
victory.° |

But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Pelishtim: and Yahweh wrought a great victory. |

the harvest time°
unto°
the cave°

and the troop°

in the valley°

And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to Dawid in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Pelishtim pitched in the valley of Refaim. |

And Dawid [was] then in an hold, and the garrison of the Pelishtim [was] then [in] Beth-Lachem. |

Oh that one°
would give me drink°°
of the water°
of the well°°

בֵּית־לָחֶם,°
which°
[is] by the gate!° |

And Dawid longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth-Lachem, which [is] by the gate! |

And the three°
mighty men°
brake through°°
the host°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים,°
and drew°°
water°
out of the well°°
of
Bêŧ Läçem
בֵּית־לָחֶם,°
that°
[was] by the gate,°
and took°°
[it], and brought°°
[it] to°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד:°
nevertheless he would°°
not°
drink°°
thereof, but poured it out°°°
unto
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.° |

And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Pelishtim, and drew water out of the well of Beth-Lachem, that [was] by the gate, and took [it], and brought [it] to Dawid: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Yahweh. |

23:17
And he said,°°
Be it far°
from me, O
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
that I should do°°°
this:°
[is not this] the blood°
of the men°°
that went°°
in jeopardy of their lives?°
therefore he would°°
not°
drink°°
it. These°
things did°°
these three°
mighty men.° |

And he said, Be it far from me, O Yahweh, that I should do this: [is not this] the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men. |

had a spear°
in his hand;°
but he went down°°

him with a staff,°
