And it was told Yoav, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Avshalom. |

was grieved°°

thy servants,°

of thy concubines;° |

And Yoav came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines; |

unto thy servants:°

thee from thy youth°°

Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by Yahweh, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now. |

in the gate.°
And they told°°
unto all°
the people,°
saying,°°
Behold,°
the king°
doth sit°°
in the gate.°
And all°
the people°
came°°
before°
the king:°
for

יִשׂרָאֵל°

every man°
to his tent.° |

Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Yisrael had fled every man to his tent. |

19:9 ¶

the people°
were°
at strife°°
throughout all°
the tribes°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
saying,°°
The king°
saved°°
us out of the hand°°
of our enemies,°°
and he°
delivered°°
us out of the hand°°
of the
Pælištîm
פְּלִשׁתִּים;°
and now°
he is fled°°
out of°
the land°
for°°
´Avšälôm
אַבשָׁלוֹם.° |

19:9 ¶
And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Yisrael, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Pelishtim; and now he is fled out of the land for Avshalom. |

And king Dawid sent to Tzadoq and to Evyathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Yehudah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Yisrael is come to the king, [even] to his house. |

[are] my brethren,°
ye°
[are] my bones°
and my flesh:°
wherefore°
then are°
ye the last°
to bring back°°°

And say ye to Amasa, [Art] thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? Elohim do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Yoav. |

יְהוּדָה,°
even as [the heart of] one°
man;°
so that they sent°°
[this word] unto°
the king,°

And he bowed the heart of all the men of Yehudah, even as [the heart of] one man; so that they sent [this word] unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants. |

So the king returned, and came to Yarden. And Yehudah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Yarden. |

And Shimi the son of Gera, a Benyemini, which [was] of Bachurim, hasted and came down with the men of Yehudah to meet king Dawid. |

And [there were] a thousand°
men°
of
Binyämîn
בִּניָמִין°°°
with°
him, and
Xîvä´
צִיבָא°
the servant°
of the house°
of
Šä´ûl
שָׁאוּל,°
and his fifteen°°
sons°
and his twenty°
servants°
with°
him; and they went over°°

יַרדֵּן°

the king.° |

And [there were] a thousand men of Binyamin with him, and Tziva the servant of the house of Shaul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him; and they went over Yarden before the king. |

a ferry boat°
to carry over°°°
the king's°
household,°
and to do°°
what he thought°
good.°

And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimi the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Yarden; |

the king,°
Let not°

impute°°
iniquity°
unto me, neither°
do thou remember°°°
that which°
thy servant°
did perversely°°
the day°

the king°

that the king°

And said unto the king, Let not my adon impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my adon the king went out of Yerushalaim, that the king should take it to his heart. |

have sinned:°°
therefore, behold,°
I am come°°
the first°
this day°

the house°

For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Yosef to go down to meet my adon the king. |

But Avishay the son of Tzeruyah answered and said, Shall not Shimi be put to death for this, because he cursed Yahweh's anointed? |

And Dawid said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Tzeruyah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Yisrael? for do not I know that I [am] this day king over Yisrael? |

Therefore the king°

Thou shalt not°
die.°°
And the king°
sware°°
unto him. |

Therefore the king said unto Shimi, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him. |

to meet°°
the king,°
and had neither°
dressed°°
his feet,°
nor°
trimmed°°
his beard,°
nor°
washed°°
his clothes,°

the day°
the king°
departed°°°
until°
the day°
he came°°
[again] in peace.° |

19:24 ¶
And Mefivosheth the son of Shaul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came [again] in peace. |

19:25
And it came to pass,°
when°
he was come°°
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
to meet°°
the king,°
that the king°
said°°
unto him, Wherefore°
wentest°°
not°
thou with°
me,
Mæfîvöšeŧ
מְפִיבֹשֶׁת?° |

19:25
And it came to pass, when he was come to Yerushalaim to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mefivosheth? |

19:26
And he answered,°°

אֲדוֹן,°
O king,°
my servant°
deceived°°
me: for°
thy servant°
said,°°
I will saddle°°
me an ass,°
that I may ride°°
thereon,°
and go°°°
to°
the king;°
because°
thy servant°
[is] lame.° |

And he answered, My adon, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant [is] lame. |

And he hath slandered°°
thy servant°
unto°
my

אֲדוֹן°
the king;°
but my
´áđôn
אֲדוֹן°
the king°
[is] as an angel°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
do°°
therefore [what is] good°
in thine eyes.° |

And he hath slandered thy servant unto my adon the king; but my adon the king [is] as an angel of Elohim: do therefore [what is] good in thine eyes. |

the king:°
yet didst thou set°°°
thy servant°
among them that did eat°°
at thine own table.°

therefore have°

For all [of] my father's house were but dead men before my adon the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king? |

thou any more°
of thy matters?°
I have said,°°

רֹגלִים,°°
and went over°°
Yardën
יַרדֵּן°
with°
the king,°
to conduct°°
him over°°

19:31 ¶
And Barzillay the Giladi came down from Roglim, and went over Yarden with the king, to conduct him over Yarden. |

Barzillay
בַּרזִלַּי°
was a very°
aged°°
man, [even] fourscore°
years°
old:°
and he°
had provided°
the king°
of sustenance°°
while he lay°
at
Maçánayim
מַחֲנַיִם;°

he°
[was] a very°

Now Barzillay was a very aged man, [even] fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Machanayim; for he [was] a very great man. |

And the king said unto Barzillay, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Yerushalaim. |

Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Kimham went on with him: and all the people of Yehudah conducted the king, and also half the people of Yisrael. |

And, behold,°

יִשׂרָאֵל°
came°°
to°
the king,°
and said°°
unto°
the king,°
Why°
have our brethren°
the men°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
stolen thee away,°°
and have brought°°°
the king,°
and his household,°
and all°
Däwiđ's
דָּוִד°

with°
him, over°
Yardën
יַרדֵּן?° |

And, behold, all the men of Yisrael came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Yehudah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all Dawid's men with him, over Yarden? |

[is] near of kin°

us: wherefore°°
then be ye angry°°

And all the men of Yehudah answered the men of Yisrael, Because the king [is] near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king's [cost]? or hath he given us any gift? |

We have ten°

in the king,°

And the men of Yisrael answered the men of Yehudah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more [right] in Dawid than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Yehudah were fiercer than the words of the men of Yisrael. |
