And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Chanun his son reigned in his stead. |

I will shew°°
kindness°
unto°
Çänûn
חָנוּן°
the son°

Näçäš
נָחָשׁ,°
as°
his father°
shewed°°
kindness°
unto°
me. And
Däwiđ

to comfort°°
him by the hand°
of his servants°
for°
his father.°
And
Däwiđ's

servants°
came°°
into the land°
of the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן.° |

Then said Dawid, I will shew kindness unto Chanun the son of Nachash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And Dawid sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And Dawid's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon. |

Thinkest°
thou that

the city,°

And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Chanun their adon, Thinkest thou that Dawid doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not Dawid [rather] sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it? |

Wherefore

of their beards,°
and cut off°°°
their garments°
in the middle,°
[even] to°
their buttocks,°
and sent them away.°° |

Wherefore Chanun took Dawid's servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, [even] to their buttocks, and sent them away. |

[it] unto

to meet°°
them, because°
the men°°
were°
greatly°
ashamed:°°
and the king°
said,°°
Tarry°°
at
Yærîçô
יְרִיחוֹ°
until°
your beards°
be grown,°°
and [then] return.°° |

When they told [it] unto Dawid, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Yericho until your beards be grown, and [then] return. |

And when the children°

`Ammôn

that°
they stank°°
before
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
sent°°
and hired°°°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
of
Bêŧ Ræçôv
בֵּית־רְחוֹב,°
and the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
of
Xôvä´
צוֹבָא,°
twenty°
thousand°
footmen,°
and of king°
Ma`áȼà
מַעֲכָה°
a thousand°
men,°
and of
´Îš Ţôv
אִישׁ־טוֹב°
twelve°°
thousand°
men.° |

10:6 ¶
And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before Dawid, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Arammim of Beth-Rechov, and the Arammim of Tzova, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maakhah a thousand men, and of Ish-Tov twelve thousand men. |

And when

אִישׁ־טוֹב,°
and
Ma`áȼà
מַעֲכָה,°
[were] by themselves°
in the field.° |

And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Arammim of Tzova, and of Rechov, and Ish-Tov, and Maakhah, [were] by themselves in the field. |

When Yoav saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice [men] of Yisrael, and put [them] in array against the Arammim: |

And the rest°
of the people°
he delivered°°
into the hand°
of
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי°
his brother,°
that he might put [them] in array°°
against°°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן.° |

And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Avishay his brother, that he might put [them] in array against the children of Ammon. |

10:11
And he said,°°
If°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
be too strong°°
for°
me, then thou shalt°
help°
me: but if°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
be too strong°°
for°
thee, then I will come°°
and help°°
thee. |

And he said, If the Arammim be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. |
|
10:12
Be of good courage,°°
and let us play the men°°
for°
our people,°
and for°
the cities°
of our
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
do°°
that which seemeth°
him good.° |
|
10:12
Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our Elohim: and Yahweh do that which seemeth him good. |
|
10:13
And

drew nigh,°°
and the people°
that°
[were] with°
him, unto the battle°
against the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים:°
and they fled°°
before°°
him. |

And Yoav drew nigh, and the people that [were] with him, unto the battle against the Arammim: and they fled before him. |

And when the children°

`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
saw°°
that°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
were fled,°°
then fled°°
they also before°°
´Ávîšay
אֲבִישַׁי,°
and entered°°
into the city.°
So

the children°

`Ammôn

and came°°
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° |

And when the children of Ammon saw that the Arammim were fled, then fled they also before Avishay, and entered into the city. So Yoav returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Yerushalaim. |

10:15 ¶
And when the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
saw°°
that°
they were smitten°°
before°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
they gathered°°
themselves°
together.° |

10:15 ¶
And when the Arammim saw that they were smitten before Yisrael, they gathered themselves together. |

And
Háđađ`ezer
הֲדַדעֶזֶר°
sent,°°
and brought out°°°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
that°
[were] beyond°°
the river:°
and they came°°
to
Çêläm
חֵילָם;°
and
Šôvaȼ
שׁוֹבַך°
the captain°
of the host°
of
Háđađ`ezer
הֲדַדעֶזֶר°
[went] before°
them. |

10:16
And Hadadezer sent, and brought out the Arammim that [were] beyond the river: and they came to Chelam; and Shovakh the captain of the host of Hadadezer [went] before them. |
|
10:17
And when it was told°°

he gathered°°
all
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
together,°°°°°
and passed over°°°
Yardën
יַרדֵּן,°
and came°°
to
Çêläm
חֵילָם.°
And the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
set themselves in array°°
against°°
Däwiđ
דָּוִד,°
and fought°°
with°
him. |

10:17
And when it was told Dawid, he gathered all Yisrael together, and passed over Yarden, and came to Chelam. And the Arammim set themselves in array against Dawid, and fought with him. |

10:18
And the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
fled°°
before°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל;°
and
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
slew°°
[the men of] seven°
hundred°
chariots°
of the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים,°°
and forty°
thousand°
horsemen,°
and smote°°
Šôvaȼ
שׁוֹבַך°
the captain°
of their host,°
who died°°
there.° |

And the Arammim fled before Yisrael; and Dawid slew [the men of] seven hundred chariots of the Arammim, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shovakh the captain of their host, who died there. |

And when all°
the kings°
[that were] servants°
to
Háđađ`ezer
הֲדַדעֶזֶר°
saw°°
that°
they were smitten°°
before°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
they made peace°°
with°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and served°°
them. So the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
feared°°
to help°°°
the children°
of
`Ammôn
עַמּוֹן°
any more.° |

10:19
And when all the kings [that were] servants to Hadadezer saw that they were smitten before Yisrael, they made peace with Yisrael, and served them. So the Arammim feared to help the children of Ammon any more. |
