 22:1 ¶ Yö´šiyyà יֹאשִׁיָּה° [was] eight° years° old° when he began to reign,°° and he reigned°° thirty° and one° years° in Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם.° And his mother's° name° [was] Yæđîđà יְדִידָה,° the daughter° of `Áđäyà עֲדָיָה° of Boxkaŧ בָּצקַת.°°

 22:1 ¶ Yoshiyyah [was] eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Yerushalaim. And his mother's name [was] Yedidah, the daughter of Adayah of Botzqath.

 22:2 And he did°° [that which was] right° in the sight° of Yähwè יָהוֶה,° and walked°°° in all° the way° of Däwiđ דָּוִד° his father,° and turned not aside°°° to the right hand° or to the left.°

 22:2 And he did [that which was] right in the sight of Yahweh, and walked in all the way of Dawid his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

 22:3 ¶ And it came to pass° in the eighteenth°° year° of king° Yö´šiyyà יֹאשִׁיָּה,° [that] the king° sent°°° Šäfän שָׁפָן° the son° of ´Áxalyà אֲצַליָה,° the son° of Mæšulläm מְשֻׁלָּם,° the scribe,°° to the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה,° saying,°°

 22:3 ¶ And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Yoshiyyah, [that] the king sent Shafan the son of Atzalyah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Yahweh, saying,

 22:4 Go up°° to° Çilkiyyà חִלקִיָּה° the high° priest,° that he may sum°°° the silver° which is brought°° into the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה,° which° the keepers°° of the door° have gathered°° of°° the people:°

 22:4 Go up to Chilqiyyah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of Yahweh, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:

 22:5 And let them deliver°° it into° the hand° of the doers°° of the work,° that have the oversight°° of the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה:° and let them give°° it to the doers°° of the work° which° [is] in the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה,° to repair°° the breaches° of the house,°

 22:5 And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of Yahweh: and let them give it to the doers of the work which [is] in the house of Yahweh, to repair the breaches of the house,

 22:6 Unto carpenters,° and builders,°° and masons,°° and to buy°° timber° and hewn° stone° to repair°°° the house.°

 22:7 Howbeit° there was no° reckoning° made°° with° them of the money° that was delivered°° into° their hand,° because° they° dealt°° faithfully.°

 22:8 ¶ And Çilkiyyà חִלקִיָּה° the high° priest° said°° unto° Šäfän שָׁפָן° the scribe,°° I have found°° the book° of the law° in the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה.° And Çilkiyyà חִלקִיָּה° gave°°° the book° to° Šäfän שָׁפָן,° and he read°° it.

 22:8 ¶ And Chilqiyyah the high priest said unto Shafan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Yahweh. And Chilqiyyah gave the book to Shafan, and he read it.

 22:9 And Šäfän שָׁפָן° the scribe°° came°° to° the king,° and brought°° the king° word° again,°°°°° and said,°° Thy servants° have gathered°°° the money° that was found°° in the house,° and have delivered°° it into° the hand° of them that do°° the work,° that have the oversight°° of the house° of Yähwè יָהוֶה.°

 22:9 And Shafan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of Yahweh.

 22:10 And Šäfän שָׁפָן° the scribe°° shewed°° the king,° saying,°° Çilkiyyà חִלקִיָּה° the priest° hath delivered°° me a book.° And Šäfän שָׁפָן° read°° it before° the king.°

 22:10 And Shafan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Chilqiyyah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shafan read it before the king.

 22:11 And it came to pass,° when the king° had heard°°° the words° of the book° of the law,° that he rent°°° his clothes.°

 22:11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

 22:12 And the king° commanded°°° Çilkiyyà חִלקִיָּה° the priest,° and ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם° the son° of Šäfän שָׁפָן,° and `Aȼbôr עַכבּוֹר° the son° of Mîȼäyà מִיכָיָה,° and Šäfän שָׁפָן° the scribe,°° and `Áŝäyà עֲשָׂיָה° a servant° of the king's,° saying,°°

 22:12 And the king commanded Chilqiyyah the priest, and Achiqam the son of Shafan, and Akhbor the son of Mikhayah, and Shafan the scribe, and Asayah a servant of the king's, saying,

 22:13 Go°°° ye, enquire°° of° Yähwè יָהוֶה° for° me, and for° the people,° and for° all° Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה,° concerning° the words° of this° book° that is found:°° for° great° [is] the wrath° of Yähwè יָהוֶה° that° is kindled°° against us, because°° our fathers° have not° hearkened°° unto° the words° of this° book,° to do°° according unto all° that which is written°° concerning° us.

 22:13 Go ye, enquire of Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Yehudah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great [is] the wrath of Yahweh that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.

 22:14 So Çilkiyyà חִלקִיָּה° the priest,° and ´Áçîkäm אֲחִיקָם,° and `Aȼbôr עַכבּוֹר,° and Šäfän שָׁפָן,° and `Áŝäyà עֲשָׂיָה,° went°°° unto° Çuldà חֻלדָּה° the prophetess,° the wife° of Šallûm שַׁלּוּם° the son° of Tikwà תִּקוָה,° the son° of Çarças חַרחַס,° keeper°° of the wardrobe;° (now she° dwelt°° in Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם° in the college;)° and they communed°° with° her.

 22:14 So Chilqiyyah the priest, and Achiqam, and Akhbor, and Shafan, and Asayah, went unto Chuldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tiqwah, the son of Charchas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Yerushalaim in the college;) and they communed with her.

 22:15 ¶ And she said°° unto° them, Thus° saith°° Yähwè יָהוֶה° ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° Tell°° the man° that° sent°° you to° me,

 22:15 ¶ And she said unto them, Thus saith Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael, Tell the man that sent you to me,

 22:16 Thus° saith°° Yähwè יָהוֶה,° Behold,° I will bring°° evil° upon° this° place,° and upon° the inhabitants°° thereof, [even]° all° the words° of the book° which° the king° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה° hath read:°°

 22:16 Thus saith Yahweh, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, [even] all the words of the book which the king of Yehudah hath read:

 22:17 Because°° they have forsaken°° me, and have burned incense°° unto other° ´élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° that° they might provoke me to anger°° with all° the works° of their hands;° therefore my wrath° shall be kindled°° against this° place,° and shall not° be quenched.°°

 22:17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other elohim, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

 22:18 But to° the king° of Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה° which sent°° you to enquire°° of° Yähwè יָהוֶה,° thus° shall ye say°° to° him, Thus° saith°° Yähwè יָהוֶה° ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,° [As touching] the words° which° thou hast heard;°°

 22:18 But to the king of Yehudah which sent you to enquire of Yahweh, thus shall ye say to him, Thus saith Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael, [As touching] the words which thou hast heard;

 22:19 Because° thine heart° was tender,°° and thou hast humbled°° thyself° before°° Yähwè יָהוֶה,° when thou heardest°° what° I spake°° against° this° place,° and against° the inhabitants°° thereof, that they should become° a desolation° and a curse,° and hast rent°°° thy clothes,° and wept°° before° me; I° also° have heard°° [thee], saith°° Yähwè יָהוֶה.°

 22:19 Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before Yahweh, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard [thee], saith Yahweh.

 22:20 Behold° therefore,° I will gather°° thee unto° thy fathers,° and thou shalt be gathered°° into° thy grave° in peace;° and thine eyes° shall not° see°° all° the evil° which° I° will bring°° upon° this° place.° And they brought°°° the king° word° again.°°

 22:20 Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
