Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
in
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן,°
[and reigned] seventeen°°
years.° |

13:1 ¶
In the three and twentieth year of Yoash the son of Achazyah king of Yehudah Yehoachaz the son of Yehu began to reign over Yisrael in Shomron, [and reigned] seventeen years. |
|
13:2
And he did°°
[that which was] evil°
in the sight°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°
and followed°°°°
the sins°
of
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם°
the son°
of
Næväţ
נְבָט,°
which°
made°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
to sin;°°
he departed°°
not°
therefrom.° |

13:2
And he did [that which was] evil in the sight of Yahweh, and followed the sins of Yorovam the son of Nevat, which made Yisrael to sin; he departed not therefrom. |
|
13:3 ¶
And the anger°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
was kindled°°
against
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and he delivered°°
them into the hand°
of
Çázä´ël
חֲזָאֵל°
king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם,°
and into the hand°
of
Ben Háđađ
בֶּן־הֲדַד°
the son°
of
Çázä´ël
חֲזָאֵל,°
all°
[their] days.° |

13:3 ¶
And the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Yisrael, and he delivered them into the hand of Chazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad the son of Chazael, all [their] days. |
|
13:4
And

besought°°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,°°
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
hearkened°°
unto°°
him: for°
he saw°°°
the oppression°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
because°
the king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם°
oppressed°°
them. |

13:4
And Yehoachaz besought Yahweh, and Yahweh hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Yisrael, because the king of Aram oppressed them. |
|
13:5
(And
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
gave°°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
a saviour,°°
so that they went out°°
from under°°
the hand°
of the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים:°
and the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
dwelt°°
in their tents,°
as beforetime.°° |

13:5
(And Yahweh gave Yisrael a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Arammim: and the children of Yisrael dwelt in their tents, as beforetime. |
|
13:6
Nevertheless°
they departed°°
not°
from the sins°°
of the house°
of
Yorov`äm
יָרָבעָם,°
who°
made°
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
sin,°°
[but] walked°°
therein: and there remained°°
the grove°
also°
in
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן.)° |

13:6
Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Yorovam, who made Yisrael sin, [but] walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Shomron.) |
|
13:7
Neither°°
did he leave°°
of the people°
to
Yæhô´äçäz
יְהוֹאָחָז°
but°°
fifty°
horsemen,°
and ten°
chariots,°
and ten°
thousand°
footmen;°
for°
the king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם°
had destroyed°°
them, and had made°°
them like the dust°
by threshing.°° |

13:7
Neither did he leave of the people to Yehoachaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Aram had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing. |

13:8 ¶
Now the rest°
of the acts°

יְהוֹאָחָז,°
and all°
that°
he did,°°
and his might,°
[are] they°
not°
written°°
in°
the book°
of the chronicles°°
of the kings°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל?° |

13:8 ¶
Now the rest of the acts of Yehoachaz, and all that he did, and his might, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisrael? |

And

his fathers;°
and they buried°°
him in
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן:°
and
Yô´äš
יוֹאָשׁ°
his son°
reigned°°
in his stead.° |

And Yehoachaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Shomron: and Yoash his son reigned in his stead. |

13:10 ¶

In the thirty and seventh year of Yoash king of Yehudah began Yehoash the son of Yehoachaz to reign over Yisrael in Shomron, [and reigned] sixteen years. |

he departed°°

the sins°

And Yoash slept with his fathers; and Yorovam sat upon his throne: and Yoash was buried in Shomron with the kings of Yisrael. |

13:14 ¶
Now

אֱלִישָׁע°
was fallen sick°°
of°
his sickness°
whereof°
he died.°°
And

the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
came down°°
unto°
him, and wept°°
over°
his face,°
and said,°°
O my father,°
my father,°
the chariot°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
and the horsemen°
thereof. |

13:14 ¶
Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Yoash the king of Yisrael came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Yisrael, and the horsemen thereof. |
|
13:15
And

unto him, Take°°
bow°
and arrows.°
And he took°°
unto°
him bow°
and arrows.° |

And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows. |

יִשׂרָאֵל,°
Put°°
thine hand°
upon°
the bow.°
And he put°°
his hand°
[upon it]: and
´Élîšä`
אֱלִישָׁע°
put°°
his hands°
upon°
the king's°
hands.° |

And he said to the king of Yisrael, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand [upon it]: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands. |

13:17
And he said,°°
Open°°
the window°
eastward.°
And he opened°°
[it]. Then

אֱלִישָׁע°
said,°°
Shoot.°°
And he shot.°°
And he said,°°
The arrow°
of
Yähwè's
יָהוֶה°
deliverance,°
and the arrow°
of deliverance°
from
´Áräm
אֲרָם:°
for thou shalt smite°°°
the
´Árammîm
אֲרַמִּים°
in
´Áfëk
אֲפֵק,°
till°
thou have consumed°°
[them]. |

13:17
And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened [it]. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of Yahweh's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Aram: for thou shalt smite the Arammim in Afeq, till thou have consumed [them]. |
|
13:18
And he said,°°
Take°°
the arrows.°
And he took°°
[them]. And he said°°
unto the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
Smite°°
upon the ground.°
And he smote°°
thrice,°°
and stayed.°° |

13:18
And he said, Take the arrows. And he took [them]. And he said unto the king of Yisrael, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. |
|
13:19
And the man°
of
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים°
was wroth°°
with°
him, and said,°°
Thou shouldest have smitten°°
five°
or°
six°
times;°
then°
hadst thou smitten°°°
´Áräm
אֲרָם°
till°
thou hadst consumed°°
[it]: whereas now°
thou shalt smite°°°
´Áräm
אֲרָם°
[but] thrice.°° |

13:19
And the man of Elohim was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Aram till thou hadst consumed [it]: whereas now thou shalt smite Aram [but] thrice. |
|
13:20 ¶
And
´Élîšä`
אֱלִישָׁע°
died,°°
and they buried°°
him. And the bands°
of the
Mô´ävîm
מוֹאָבִים°
invaded°°
the land°
at the coming in°°
of the year.° |
|
13:20 ¶
And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moavim invaded the land at the coming in of the year. |
|
13:21
And it came to pass,°
as they°
were burying°°
a man,°
that, behold,°
they spied°°°
a band°
[of men]; and they cast°°°
the man°
into the sepulchre°
of
´Élîšä`
אֱלִישָׁע:°
and when the man°
was let down,°°°
and touched°°
the bones°
of
´Élîšä`
אֱלִישָׁע,°
he revived,°°
and stood up°°
on°
his feet.° |

13:21
And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band [of men]; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet. |
|
13:22 ¶

And

יָהוֶה°
was gracious°°
unto them, and had compassion°°
on°
them, and had respect°°
unto°
them, because°
of°
his covenant°
with°
´Avrähäm
אַברָהָם,°
Yixçäk
יִצחָק,°
and
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹב,°
and would°°
not°
destroy°°
them, neither°
cast°°
he them from°°
his presence°
as°
yet.°° |

13:23
And Yahweh was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Avraham, Yitzchaq, and Yaaqov, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet. |
|
13:24

out of the hand°°

Ben Háđađ
בֶּן־הֲדַד°

the cities,°
which°
he had taken°°
out of the hand°°
of
Yæhô´äçäz
יְהוֹאָחָז°
his father°
by war.°
Three°
times°
did
Yô´äš
יוֹאָשׁ°
beat°°
him, and recovered°°°
the cities°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

13:25
And Yehoash the son of Yehoachaz took again out of the hand of Ben-Hadad the son of Chazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Yehoachaz his father by war. Three times did Yoash beat him, and recovered the cities of Yisrael. |
