16:1 ¶
In the seventeenth year of Peqach the son of Remalyah Achaz the son of Yotham king of Yehudah began to reign. |

[was]

when he began to reign,°°
and reigned°°
sixteen°°
years°
in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
and did°°
not°
[that which was] right°
in the sight°
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
his
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים,°
like
Däwiđ
דָּוִד°
his father.° |

16:2
Twenty years old [was] Achaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Yerushalaim, and did not [that which was] right in the sight of Yahweh his Elohim, like Dawid his father. |

But he walked°°°
in the way°
of the kings°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
yea,°
and made°
his son°
to pass through°°
the fire,°
according to the abominations°
of the heathen,°
whom°°
Yähwè
יָהוֶה°
cast out°°
from before°°
the children°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל.° |

16:3
But he walked in the way of the kings of Yisrael, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Yisrael. |

And he sacrificed°°
and burnt incense°°
in the high places,°
and on°
the hills,°
and under°
every°
green°
tree.° |

16:5 ¶
Then Retzin king of Aram and Peqach son of Remalyah king of Yisrael came up to Yerushalaim to war: and they besieged Achaz, but could not overcome [him]. |

At that time Retzin king of Aram recovered Elath to Aram, and drave the Yehudim from Elath: and the Arammim came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day. |

תִּגלַת־פִּלאֶסֶר°

´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,°

[am] thy servant°

me out of the hand°°
of the king°
of
´Áräm
אֲרָם,°
and out of the hand°°
of the king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
which rise up°°
against°
me. |

So Achaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Ashshur, saying, I [am] thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram, and out of the hand of the king of Yisrael, which rise up against me. |

And Achaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent [it for] a present to the king of Ashshur. |

him: for the king°

´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר°
went up°°
against°
Dammäŝek
דַּמָּשֶׂק,°
and took°°
it, and carried [the people of] it captive°°

Kîr
קִיר,°
and slew°°
Ræxîn
רְצִין.° |

And the king of Ashshur hearkened unto him: for the king of Ashshur went up against Dammaseq, and took it, and carried [the people of] it captive to Qir, and slew Retzin. |

דַּמָּשֶׂק:°

´Ûriyyà
אוּרִיָּה°
the priest°°
the fashion°
of the altar,°
and the pattern°
of it, according to all°
the workmanship°
thereof. |

16:10 ¶
And king Achaz went to Dammaseq to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Ashshur, and saw an altar that [was] at Dammaseq: and king Achaz sent to Uriyyah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof. |

And Uriyyah the priest built an altar according to all that king Achaz had sent from Dammaseq: so Uriyyah the priest made [it] against king Achaz came from Dammaseq. |

And when the king°

דַּמָּשֶׂק,°°
the king°
saw°°°
the altar:°
and the king°
approached°°
to°
the altar,°
and offered°°
thereon.° |

And when the king was come from Dammaseq, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon. |

And he burnt°°°
his burnt offering°
and his meat offering,°
and poured°°°
his drink offering,°
and sprinkled°°°
the blood°
of his°
peace offerings,°
upon°
the altar.° |

the altar°
and the house°

יָהוֶה,°

it on°
the north°
side°
of the altar.° |

And he brought also the brasen altar, which [was] before Yahweh, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of Yahweh, and put it on the north side of the altar. |

the priest,°
saying,°°
Upon°
the great°
altar°
burn°°°
the morning°
burnt offering,°
and the evening°
meat offering,°
and the king's°
burnt sacrifice,°

with the burnt offering°
of all°
the people°
of the land,°
and their meat offering,°
and their drink offerings;°
and sprinkle°°
upon°
it all°
the blood°
of the burnt offering,°
and all°
the blood°
of the sacrifice:°
and the brasen°
altar°
shall be°
for me to enquire°°
[by]. |

And king Achaz commanded Uriyyah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire [by]. |

the sea°

the brasen°
oxen°
that°
[were] under°
it, and put°°
it upon°
a pavement°
of stones.° |

for the sabbath°

they had built°°
in the house,°
and the king's°
entry°

16:18
And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of Yahweh for the king of Ashshur. |

16:19 ¶
Now the rest°
of the acts°
of
´Äçäz
אָחָז°
which°
he did,°°
[are] they°
not°
written°°
in°
the book°
of the chronicles°°
of the kings°
of
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה?° |

16:19 ¶
Now the rest of the acts of Achaz which he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah? |

16:20
And
´Äçäz
אָחָז°
slept°°
with°
his fathers,°
and was buried°°
with°
his fathers°
in the city°
of
Däwiđ
דָּוִד:°
and
Çizkiyyà
חִזקִיָּה°
his son°
reigned°°
in his stead.° |

And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of Dawid: and Chizqiyyah his son reigned in his stead. |
